Personality :

Confident is the first word one would describe her. Yoora, or better known as Odette, is confident at almost anything she does. She is not afraid to take the challenge and would always figure out a way to solve her own problems. She takes pride in what she does because it is her own effort. Odette is not shy of making mistakes, in fact, she thinks that she will never learn unless she tries. She is also a humorous girl. It is never boring to be around this girl since she could crack up a joke all of a sudden and make the atmosphere around her much better. Yoora is also an outspoken person who does not hide her feelings. She would always make sure to let others know how she feels so that it would not be awkward in the future if anything happens and that she and her friends could understand each other. But there are some points that she would never say as to not hurt other people's feelings.

Living half her life in Australia and another half in South Korea, the culture is, of course, not the same. But Yoora picked up Korean fast enough and she becomes friendly enough to befriend Korean people. It was hard for her at first, since she is friendly and she always loved being around her friends, but language was a barrier and she learned the language every single day including with her brother's help until she's confident enough to use it. But, Yoora also have that negative side of hers. She is fairly a stubborn person who does not take orders easily. She would do things her own way, like being a leader of herself. Some might hate her for this, but, it's just that she just can't help being stubborn. She dislike being tied down, but those were the things she had to follow when she enters the life of being an idol; rules.

Background :

Kim Yoora comes from a rich family that is living in the USA. During her early years, Yoora or later known as Odette, was sent off to a boarding school in Brisbane. She was under the care of a distant cousin of her Korean mother. Her family always came by to visit her in Australia and sometimes, she flew back all the way to Washington. In Australia, she picked up ballet and fell in love with it. She was really good and was improving daily. She even entered competitions after her coach has decided that she is ready to show the people what she has. That was how she received the new nickname. Instead of people calling her Yoora, she was called Odette for the play she performed 'The Swan Lake' when she was 12 and became well-known as a mini Odette.

Later on, when her brother dropped out of high school in ia, the whole family packed up for South Korea, and Yoora was to follow them too. Although she had a promising future with ballet, she knew she just had to be confident of her talent and find a better future at a new place. In Incheon, Yoora goes to a daily school and she could not speak a single Korean back then. She felt really lonely, but with extra hard work and with her brother's help - who came back after knowing that the whole family is together again waiting for him to come back -, whose Korean was better off than hers, she slowly picked up the language and could finally use it. Even in South Korea, she did not forget about ballet, and even her family members once again encouraged her to continue on her passion for ballet. 

She finally got used to her new life in South Korea and was really happy to be able to be around her family, unlike the past when she was at her boarding school and could hardly meet her family. When she found out that her brother auditioned and is accepted into NH Media Ent., Yoora was really happy for him and supported her brother until he became as successful as he is now. Yoora was also expanding her passion for arts and performance. She eventually started singing to her brother's group song and was really into hallyu. She even went to several entertainment companies to audition. Her vocals might not be enough for the judges, but when Yoora started dancing to a slow song which brings out her ballerina prowess mixed with a girl group's dance and her very own creation, she simply wowed the judges and it landed her a position among other trainees under Cube Entertainment.
