xxxxxxxx BACKGROUND: Hello... So I am Ju Eun. Silver Pearl. Joy. Blah blah blah. A New York City girl. You know, the place where people display their art in every shape and form: hello freedom of expression! While I love everything about America: freedom, passion, beauty, bustling streets, unconventional expression... I can’t forget my roots, my Korean roots. I have lived in NYC all my life since my parents moved me here to live with my aunt when I was five. The sweet impressionable age of five was one that I hold dearly despite the fleeting memories of my past. I remember wearing hanboks during asian festivals held in the city, singing to Super Junior since they debuted and Shinhwa since I was six. The good old days...What you gonna do? What I gotta do? Keep me up and makin' a cash, in flash, at last. Do you wanna see the light or stand alone? Uh! What you gonna do now what's up with the past? Haha. For awhile I have entered underground dance contests in the city since I was 14...I mean I was good considering I wasn’t professionally trained. For a year and a half, every Saturday I went and danced while the rest of the week I went to this school associated with Global Classrooms International and learned several languages: English, Japanese, Korean, Spanish(necessary to survive in the city), a bit of French and Mandarin. Thanks to this school...I got so many friends from around the world too! My best friend from Tel Aviv(Yes Israel) was the one who pushed me pursue dancing and make it my true passion. I promised I would go to the contests as long as she taught me a little hebrew each week. (Such a beautiful language, no?). Every week I danced until my fifteenth christmas. Everything changed. Aviv(my Jewish friend) and I went. She cheered me while I danced and while checking out the crowd she found none other than my favorite dancer: HENRY LAU. I mean, I know he comes to NYC every once in a while...but there he was and checking out my dancing(at least that’s what Aviv told me). I left the stage...yes, clueless...and bumped into her. She was speechless and pointed towards an approaching Henry Lau...wait...what? That’s when everything went into a swirl. By the time he left...all I had was a card with the words: S.M. TOWN. Live Audition. 1.30.11 AHHHHHHH! So I went.(After 30 days of continuously pretending I was sick so I could stay home and practice my audition song: Bad Girl, Good Girl  I auditioned. I sang. I rapped. I danced. Other than that, I hardly remember anything...but I got in. WOOHOO. After transferring to Seoul High School to finish my studies, focusing on international business and international relations, I found myself looking for a room to stay in Seoul. I told my “too-busy-to-care” parents that I was coming back to Korea but they just gave the ok and signed the papers. The only hard part was leaving Aviv and my lovely Aunt in NY.

 

xxxxxxxx YEARS AS A TRAINEE: So compared to others...Two years is pretty...good, but there was an expectation that scared me. I felt...inexperienced. I didn’t know the culture as well as I did before...Heck...I was in NYC for ten years. I forgot to bow once in a while. Forgot the difference between sangsonim and samchom and ajusshi and more. I couldn’t even live with my parents. I was lonely. My best friend was at home and with the time difference...everything was so hard. I was(am) a hormonal girl who had way too deep of a voice for her age. Most of the girls were nearing their mid-twenties or fresh trainees that looked like they were in middle school. I was the odd-ball. No one knew I could speak Korean pretty fluently and left me alone for my first few months of training. I went to the small dorm room and slept and ate and practiced, missing my life. But it got better...I learned I really could rap. I found this sheet of paper on the floor in the hallway and bam...I saw some of the best lyrics ever! I wanted to write like that. It was none other than a print out of Beenzino’s I’m Me. The only thing that kept me going was the rhythm of the beat. It can go fast, it can go slow, it can change once in a while...but it’s always there. I think that’s what my trainee life became...part of the beat. Something always going. I loved it. Hearing it when practicing dance routines, hearing it when practicing vocals, hearing it when practicing rap and hearing it when I walk into the room everyday. It was a struggle but it was part of the beat of my trainee years, always pushing me forward. I wanted to fill any voids that stopped me from hearing that beat which only appeared when I tried to give up and give in to the fear of being insignificant in comparison to the other trainees. The only way to fill up such voids was dance all day, sing and rap all night and then pray a little in between- all with a sincere smile on my face.

xxxxxxxx PERSONALITY: If I could choose one word to describe me, it would be open. I am an open-book who can’t fake my emotions. I can try, but I fail miserably...I guess it’s because of my age. I am open to new people and can easily get hurt. I am prone to making weird faces when thinking...oops. I tend to talk to myself and stay up late to think while drinking bubble tea or milk tea

xxxxxxxx IN GROUP PERSONA: Clueless sunshine. I am a bright person usually. The cup is always half full, never half empty. Even when things are tough, I have the courage to smile because I know things will get get better like the sunshine however...I am still naive and gullible. However the sunshine is always open and willing to touch everything it can.

It’s a shame Chanyeol is unable to understand she has feelings for him.
