Role applying for:  Peacekeeper

Name: Sa Hana

Age: 17

Occupation (if any): high school student

Weapon:

1st Choice: Zelo

2nd Choice: Daehyun

Personality: Hana loves to smile. She tries to smile all the time, not necessarily because she’s always happy, but because she refuses to show any sadness and worry her friends and also because she’s been told that her smile can brighten anyone’s day. She’s smart and sweet, but also very naive, and when her friends are sad, hurt, or threatened in any way, she becomes fierce and vicious towards the person or people causing her friends distress. She’s very protective of her loved ones. When she’s angry, she’s angry. You do not want to be on her bad side. She’s selfless almost to a fault; she’d do anything for her friends even at her own expense. She doesn’t like fighting, but she will if she thinks she needs to, mostly for her friends. She trusts her friends implicitly (meaning the other weapons handlers, I’m assuming, and this includes the “Lone Wolf” character, whom Hana really likes and admires and hopes to be really good friends with someday) and distrusts the rest of the world. It’s extremely difficult to gain her trust, but once you do, you can only lose it by betraying her friends, but not by betraying her. She can only hold grudges for a day, maximum, as long as it pertains only to her. She’s extremely loyal and reliable, and helping others is what she’s best at. She loves when people ask her to listen to their troubles and she prides herself on giving them sound advice to find solutions. She’s hardworking and great at organizing things behind the scenes, but freezes when she’s in the spotlight. She’s artistic and  imaginative and enjoys creating perfect worlds filled with perfect people; that is, she’s very idealistic. She always tries to make everyone happy, and she gets frustrated if it’s not possible. She’s humble and down-to-earth, and shy around strangers. She can be very philosophical when contemplating something she has strong opinions on. She’s adaptable to most situations, but there are some things she won’t budge a millimeter on.

That being said, she’s also very independent and hates relying on others. She tries to do everything herself and often takes on more than she can chew. She fully believes in her ability to succeed in anything she puts her mind to, and she generally does succeed, but sometimes she’s just too stubborn and too proud to ask for help. It’s a flaw that she knows she needs to work on, yet she won’t openly admit that it’s a flaw. Having grown up basically alone, she loves being surrounded by friends and laughter, but is used to being alone and sometimes enjoys it, even craves it. She has very low self-esteem, something her friends and weapon (hopefully Zelo!) are aware of and something she also refuses to admit. Whenever they try to talk about it, she shuts them down and they back off for fear of making her angry. Nothing they say or do can change her opinion of herself because her self-esteem is like a weed that was planted in her mind when she was very young and has only grown bigger and bigger as the years pass. She’s rather feminist and is miffed whenever she hears or sees something that implies that men are better than women, or that women need men. Because she wants to be able to protect herself rather than hoping some guy will protect her, she’s trained herself in many different martial arts, including karate, taekwondo, and a few types of wushu (barehanded and with weapons). She’s by no standards a master in any of these arts, but she is at least proficient in all of them. One thing she really hates about herself is that she’s honest, but not completely so. Sometimes she sugarcoats and while she knows it’s bad, she just can’t seem to stop doing it. She would just feel so guilty if she was completely honest and ended up hurting someone’s feelings, no matter how kindly she’d phrased it.

History: On the day of her third birthday, her parents abandoned her. For this reason, she dreads her birthday every year and is somewhat resentful of everyone else who celebrates their birthdays happily--though of course she would never show it. Also for this reason, she has never really experienced “family” and has never wanted to because she doesn’t believe in it. She puts all her faith into her friends. This is also why she’s afraid to fall in love. Although she wants to, she’s scared that if she does find someone to love and love her (which she’s very skeptical about but...Zelo?????? Or Daehyun if I don’t get Zelo?????) after a while they’ll become like her parents, people who would callously leave their lone child behind without so much as a backwards glance.

She was found crying in the apartment that she lived in with her parents after an annoyed neighbor had complained to the building’s manager about the noise. When the door was found locked and there was no noise from inside but her wailing, the manager shoved the door in and found her sitting several yards in front of the door, sobbing her soul out. They calmed her down and called child protective services, and by the time the social worker arrived, she was completely silent and almost lifeless. She blinked, she breathed. That was basically it. She was limp and mute and deaf and blind--not literally, but that’s what it seemed like because she didn’t react to anything. They eventually gave up on asking her anything, and only figured out her name from looking through the apartment and finding her birth records. She was sent to an orphanage and promptly forgotten about. It was during her time at the orphanage that she taught herself how to fight using secretly watched TV shows and stolen time on the computer.

In the orphanage, she was an outcast--by choice. She never smiled, rarely ate, even more rarely talked, and barely slept. All she did was sit next to a window and stare outside gloomily all day. Nothing could rouse her. She didn’t play with the other kids, who were friendly and often invited her to play with them. Eventually, they got tired of being rejected and stopped asking. The people in charge treated her kindly and tried to get her to eat and sleep more, but after a while they gave up too. At night, she would take advantage of the dark and quiet and teach herself self-defense. At school, she didn’t talk or smile either, and she was a loner. The teachers and students put in a lot less effort in trying to get close to her than the people at the orphanage, especially as she got older. She disappeared to the roof each day and stood as close to the edge as she dared, wondering whether or not she should jump off. It wasn’t that she really wanted to die; she just didn’t know what life meant anymore. She was sent to a few foster homes but was sent back before long because of her blank behavior. She was very skinny, her skin was too pale, her hair was stringy and dry, there were always dark bags under her eyes, she was way underweight, and she was so, so frail and unhealthy. No one and nothing affected her.

It was her own fault, really, for pushing everyone away, but she likes to blame the world because it’s so much easier. She blames the world 15%, her parents 35%, and herself 50%. She’s always thought that she must have done something wrong to make her parents leave her like that. From here, her feeling of self-worthlessness grew.

The truth is that her parents left that day, on her third birthday, to buy her that doll that she’d wanted at the time, the doll that was all the rage, the doll that she’d begged and begged and begged her parents to buy for her. And they did. But on the way home they were waylaid by the monsters and never seen again.

But Hana doesn’t know any of this. No one does.

What changed her ended up being school. Well, not school, exactly, but one of the students, surprisingly. One day when she was fifteen years old, a new student joined her math class. He was tall and blond and cute.

He called himself Zelo. (If Daehyun, then she’s in an advanced class.)

He sat next to her because she sat in the back, far right corner and her aura of repulsion kept a shield of empty desks around her, separating her from the rest of the class. He sat next to her, linking her to everyone else and shoving himself into her life and shaking her entire world, but in a good way. At first, he bugged her, constantly chatting at her and showing her things without waiting for her to reply or react. He didn’t care that she barely even looked his way. He just liked talking and smiling and laughing and he wanted to spread the joy.

It took a few months, but soon he hung around her all the time and even joined her on the roof. The first time she had let him onto the roof with her, she had sat on the edge of the roof out of habit and he quickly pulled her away, alarmed. After that, she sat with him on the ground and listened to his rambling voice, letting it soothe her, sometimes to sleep. She would fall asleep on the ground, curled in a tight ball away from him, and he would lean across and roll her over to face him, gently setting her head in his lap. Occasionally, he would yawn and be the one to fall asleep, inviting himself to slumber on her lap. Though she acted indignant the first time, she let him stay where he was, running her fingers softly through his hair.

Slowly, he helped her regain her appetite and get some healthy meat on her bones. He would call her every night to make sure she had eaten a substantial dinner and washed her hair and face well “so that you’ll look even prettier,” he’d say. He would bring two lunches every day, just in case, and slowly but surely, he opened up her heart. It was a long and painstaking process. She gradually began to smile again, initially only around him, but soon in the presence of others as well. It took another year for him to get her to laugh. That was the first year and a half since their first meeting. He introduced her to his friends and she cautiously let a few of them into her heart as well. Soon after, she and Zelo began sharing secrets and she knew they were best friends. By the end of the second year of their relationship, she was laughing and smiling and talking as much as he did, if not more.

It was by accident that Hana found out about Zelo’s true identity as a weapon. One day, she was walking back to the orphanage with Zelo when suddenly a group of monsters surrounded them. Frightened, she tried to run away and pull Zelo with her but he told she could go and he would deal with them. She wouldn’t leave him alone because she was afraid they would kill him and forced herself to calm down and put her martial arts to practical use. Zelo fought with her but soon the monsters were overpowering them. Zelo caught her as she tripped and told her not to freak out too much, and then he set her on the ground and changed into a shield right before her eyes. At the moment, the danger of the monsters outweighed the incredulity of Zelo’s transformation, and so Hana picked up Zelo the shield and used him to fight off the monsters. She didn’t kill them because she wasn’t strong enough and also because she was a beginner at wielding a shield, but she injured them enough to make them run away. Zelo changed back into a human and took her to where he was living. There, he treated her wounds and told her everything. At first she couldn’t believe him, even after having seen him transform in person. She avoided him for a week. But eventually, she accepted the truth, realizing that whether or not Zelo could turn into a shield, he was still her best friend.

Now she and Zelo are inseparable. Since she found out that he is a weapon, she has decided to fight with him and fight for him and her friends, so that they can live in a more peaceful, happy world. And if/when she finds out about her parents somehow, she’ll fight for them too.

Likes:

  • smiling/laughing

  • friends

  • food

Dislikes:

  • darkness

  • fighting/confrontation

  • pain (emotional, physical, any and all types, especially when it comes to her friends)

Trivia:

  • She wears glasses. She’s near-sighted and has really terrible eyesight.

  • She has long, straight, black hair and she loves it. One of her favorite hobbies is experimenting with her hair.

  • Her other hobbies include painting, playing piano (she’s musically gifted), writing poetry, reading comics and romance novels (usually not the ty ones but she has read a few of those), and taking candid pictures of her friends laughing and smiling (this is her all-time favorite hobby; she has several photo books overflowing with these pictures).

  • She loves the ideas of true love, soulmates, and love at first sight, but doubts that she herself will ever find a love worth fighting for, if any love at all. She thinks that no one she would love would ever fall in love with her (that darned low self-esteem).

  • She loves animals, especially cats and dogs because they're so cute and fluffy and especially especially owls for their calm serenity and their (stereotypical) wisdom. She also loves pandas, horses, dolphins, falcons, alpaca, giraffes, mice, foxes, wolves, and penguins, and really likes all other animals.

Do you mind if your character dies? I guess...because it's always just TOO SAD WHEN A CHARACTER DIES ESPECIALLY ONE I LIKE but you're writing the story so...kill if you must!

Other: Is this considered roleplay? I've never roleplayed before, but I've always wanted to try. But even if it's not, I'm still super excited because the storyline sounds awesome! Also...BAP! AS COOL GUYS WHO TURN INTO WEAPONS YO!

Sorry the history part got so long; it was like writing a story. Anyway, hope you like Sa Hana! Please consider her for Zelo!

And I’m looking forward to the rest of the story!

EDITED because I realized that I probably should include exactly how Hana found out that he is a weapon...lolz
