[ style ] - Casually she would opt for baggy, comfortable clothes that would not flaunt her body too much. She mostly wears what she feels good and safe in. Formally, she does not own that many dresses and the only dress she had before are very few -while her second mother was still alive- and she does not shop for clothes that much.

[ personality ] -

Shuqi could be considered as a cautious person. She does not really trust anyone or maybe even everyone. It is difficult for her to actually communicate with anyone, let alone trust anyone and it has made her very difficult to be understood. Shuqi is not an open book where one could easily read through and this caused her to have that certain dark and frightening aura around her.

Shuqi feels really insecure of how she looks, how she dresses, how her attitude is towards others and even how people think of her. She has that negativity in her mind where she thinks that she is not good enough for anyone, people would jugde her and she begins to be more and more insecure until there's a point where she gets really depressed and just hides herself from the whole world. She is also sometimes envious of the beautiful girls she comes across with. Although they throw her spiteful comments, but, all she could think about is how pretty and lucky that girl is.

Undeniably, this girl is just plain fragile. Due to her family background, she had difficulties in growing up. She could easily breakdown although she tries to masquerade the hurt she goes through in her life. She thinks that if she is not strong enough, then who would be doing it for her? She could withstand all the pains and hurtful comments being thrown at her, but there would be that one moment where she could take it no more, and she would have a nervous break down. And nowadays, the stress she's loading on herself is getting even worse and sometimes, she would cry alone at school, on her own.

Shuqi is quite oblivious to her surroundings especially when she is at shcool. Shuqi is quite unaware of the goings at school. She would be the very last to hear a certain rumour, the last to hear about the announcement and the last to reach a certain place at school. Since she is ignored as if she is invisible most of the time, people does not consider her a part of the society and she would be left alone on her own to figure things out.

[ background ] -

Originally she was born out of wedlock in Shanghai to a e. She was abandoned at the streets and was left with just a name on a piece of paper; dying in the cold December winter. But luckily, a kind soul took her in and nursed the sick Shuqi back to health. The kind soul was a nurse who works at the hospital close to where she was abandoned and she was given enough needs to feed and take care of the child. Although the nurse is not her birth mother, but she cares for Shuqi just like her own child. Shuqi grows up and until she was 5, the lady finally decided that she would get married with a lawyer. The lawyer had made it easy for Shuqi's mother to get her a birth certificate and child custody legally.

At first the man and her mother were doing fine, with both of them doing well in their respective careers and they decided not to have any children since both are quite busy although Shuqi was longing for a younger sibling. Later on, her mother was starting to get sick and she became very ill. Her mother was actually diagnosed with uterine cancer since she married Shuqi's father and that she is unable to conceive. The lawyer was furious that his wife actually lied to him and since then he started beating her even when she is sick. Later on, his attention turned to Shuqi and he started beating her too. At the age of 7, the angelic nurse passed away due to her final stage cancer and Shuqi grew up with an abusive father.

Not knowing what to do, she withstand the pain and the cursing. Her father lost his job since he failed to do well in his job and was unable to find work anywhere. He even started gambling and drinking alcohol, which he comes back home every night, reeking with alcohol. All the money he had was spent on his gambling and even Shuqi has to stop going to school since they couldn't afford to send her to school. Her father even borrowed money from the loan sharks and he was unable to pay them back. Shuqi was even about to be sold to the loan shark as a payment to become a e. Fortunately, the next day, before the loan sharks appear, her neighbour, offered to hide her in their house.

Their neighbour is a good friend of Shuqi's late mother and they wanted to repay her for all the help Shuqi's mother had done to them when their sick child was hopitalized. The husband of the family has a younger sister who is currently living in Seoul and is unable to conceive since she has been having miscarriages due to her work for quite a few times. The family then flew Shuqi to South Korea as soon and as secretly as possible to Shuqi's now current mother who was longing for a child and when she arrived, she was welcomed by a friendly lady who accepted her for whoever she was. When the papers were settled, and she was legally 'Jang Shuqi', she finally found a good house to live in with a new mother she would grow to love and a new surrounding she has to adapt to.

The past is still fresh in her mind and Shuqi is not one to forget things easily. Even after she was put through series of counselling sessions, she was still unable to forget the past of her abusive father. Her mother later on then died in a car crash and finally she was orphaned again. The family previously who helped her in Shanghai offered to let her stay with them with Shuqi declined, saying that she would be fine on her own and that they have repaid their debt to her late mother. The family still insist on taking her in, but she politely declined once again. They let her decide and passed the money Shuqi's late step-mother left to her.

Finally, she lives on her own, in the house her step-mother left her without any debts to pay for with an inheritance of quite a large amount of money.

[ personality ] -

Tao is like the total opposite of Shuqi. He is a very cheerful person. Tao would be the one to lighten the mood up and make every smile at his aegyos and finally give in to him. He would sometimes give you the thumbs up sign as an encouragement of something you have done even if it's just a little. He is also the naive one among the Beauty Club members. He would believe you if you tell him that the swimming pool is dried up since a dragon came last night to quench its thirst, if you tell him that you could actually touch your nose using your tongue or even the fact that pigs could fly! ( oh you innocent little Tao ).

Tao is also very sociable and he is acquaintanced by many. He is quite childish when it comes to not getting what he wants especially when it comes to Gucci items that he spotted while shopping with the other members of the club. He is also quite the emotional and sensitive type. He feels deeply for others and could easily be hurt sometimes. But when he sees someone cry, he would undeniably shed a few tears too. Yup, it's quite funny actually and he would always be repriminded by Kris, the skin care and make up expert. Do not be fooled by his childish demeanor. This guy actually has a high fashion sense and one could never escape from his eyes when it comes to fashion.

[ how you meet ] -

Yes, they have met several times at the vet shop where Shuqi sometimes volunteers at. Tao is always seen at the volunteer shop since he also volunteers there and self-proclaimly becomes the cat trainer, feeder, cleaner and anything when it comes to cats. He notices her each and every time she comes to volunteer but it seems that the girl never really talks and she is quite oblivious to her surroundings. He bets that she doesn't even knwo he exists. Well, how wrong would he be when Shuqi actually notices the cute (oops! Did Shuqi just said cute?!) panda-like guy. She is just embarass of herself and that she would feel insecure right away even before she tries to talk to him. Tao would feel that he needs to help and protect the girl.

[ relationship ] - It could be seen as a shy relationship. Shuqi is the quiet type of girl who does not voice out her thought, while Tao is this cheerful and carefree guy who is like a social butterfly. They are awkward at first since she does not conversate that much because she still does not trust him and she couldn't believe the fact that she actually found the pink and silver card embriodered with the Beauty Club symbol.

[ what do you think about this beauty club thing ? ] -

Personally, I never knew this club existed but there were rumours going around about 5 or 6(?) flower(?) boys(?) distributing silver pinkish cards to lucky girls, I think.

[ are you happy being the lucky ones ? why ? ] -

*rubs wrist* I...*whispers* yes...I wish to be beautiful too, even once.

[ are you satisfied with your beauty partner ? ] -

He is a very undertanding person althoug at times he could be chilsdish. I could say that we are totally the opposite of each other, but I like how open and cheerful he is. Yes, I am very satisfied having Tao as my beauty partner. He taught me a lot about life

[ among six girls, who you most get along with ? ] -

#2 would be just like Tao. I've seen her around school and she does not disrespect or insult me like the others. But, I'd like to try becoming friends with all the other girls and I'm sure Tao would be there for me

[the reason for you to be beautiful ? ] -

Have you ever heard the names they call me? I never wanted to be beautiful, people would notice the change and a different name would come up. I hate those who just won't leave me alone. But, I think it's time for a change. It might be just like another Cinderella story to me, although my magic would just end after the clock strikes midnight

[ lastly, what your opinion about beauty ? ] -

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Though you can't see my eyes *chuckles* *rubs wrist* *scratches nose* but I think each and every person living on this earth is a beautiful soul. Some might be spiteful, but it's just in their personality. To me, even the ugliest beggar in the world would appear beautiful or handsome; if he is a guy, if he has a kind heart.

[ snece suggestion ] -

Before she becomes the lucky one:

- They meet at the florist where Shuqi works at. The first time he ever saw her smile was when she was decorating the flowers when he stepped into the shop. He was surprised by how beautiful she looks and that the only thing she needs is to cut the bangs that was covering her naturally beautiful face and a little magic from the Beauty Club members.

- When she was insulted very badly for being chosen as one of the lucky girls and it was very depressing that Tao brought her home. She had a nervous break down and collapsed in the shower. He tried to save her (oh and she's wearing nothing. I'm so embarassed with myself) and pulled her out with his blanket when he came in the second time. That's when he saw her abuse marks and he doesn't interrogate her when she wakes up, yet he slowly tries to gain her trust in him.

After she becomes the lucky one:

- He would bring her to the club he always becomes a DJ at and there she would be the centre of attention as he would make her sing while he raps

- He would bring her back to Shanghai to visit her late mother, Ms. Foo

[ comment/suggestion] - I'm really sorry if you dislike her background. I'm a bit depressed these days, so I could think of a few tragic stories like that. And I hope I did the right thing on the 'Question Time!' part. I guess it may be is based on first person's point of view, so I try to think form Shuqi's point of view.
