food for thoughts

Tomboyish, Athletic, Stubborn. tonight will never come again, babe

  when reality meets expectation
Aeyong is the kind of girl of people would summarize to 'tomboyish'. She walks, talks, acts, eats (oh, dear me) and even dresses up like a guy. People would even not notice that she is actually a girl unless you scrutinize the group of whooping or cat-calling young adults carefully. Her friends are mostly guys, oh well, she hardly have any friends of the same gender; none, zero, nada. She is very unladylike and this sometimes scare her parents since they thought that their daughter might have lost interest in boys, let alone men and fear that she would turn into a homoual.

Secondly, Aeyong is also the kind of girl who is comparatively athletic among the school's jocks, heck, she could even win the crap out of them. She is a born athlete and could pick up several sports and she enjoys taking up martial arts lessons a lot. When Aeyong enters a competition, she would make sure that she reach the top. Aeyong lives by a rule that says: 'If Dragon can't get Silver or Bronze, she will aim for Gold.' Yup, that hard core of a sports person. She acts as the captain of several sports clubs such as the track and field and swimming clubs. She is also an active Wushu practitioner since she picked it up when she was a little girl. Her late Grandpa was a Wushu master and she had learnt the basics from him.

This girl could be one tough girl to handle when she is being her stubborn self. Due to her tomboyishness, she is also very stubborn to ask for help from others. She would do things her own way and no one could change her mind when she decides on something. Well, there is only one person who could really control her, but the man is long gone and Aeyong misses her Grandpa a lot. Then, because of her stubbornness, she also makes the decision to seek help form Cheon Sajangnim.

■  archives
| Aeyong basically comes from a modest Korean generation family. She lives in Seoul, South Korea and has been living there since. Since she was a little girl, Aeyong always followed her late Grandpa around and he even thought her a variety of martial arts and she grows to love Wushu very much. Later on, her Grandpa passed away and since then Aeyong never stopped learning several other types of martial arts since she promised her Grandpa and finally she became tomboyish from all the kicking and flying around, enjoying the feel of adrenaline pumping through her veins. At home, she is a filial daughter, no doubt. But it ends at the point if her parents talk to her about 'trying to go out on a date', 'finding a boyfriend' or 'change her attitude'.

By the time these few things were said, she would just keep quiet and ignore her Mom's rant about not getting a grandchild and her Dad's constant pacifying his terrified wife. Later on, she would let off her steam as she fights with the other boys at her martial arts class and would feel really satisfied if she could beat 4 - 5 of them in a streak. Or she would ask one of her guy friends to go to a far boxing place and she would beat the crap out of the sandbag and probably one of her male friends. Growing up, she becomes lesser and lesser of a lady and more to a boy. It is a fact the she would always run away from, since she still have not found her true identity yet.

■  a victorian's identity

| She goes to Victoria High School as a result of her parents final decision and the final normal school she would be able to attend to before she would set her foot into juvenile school. She is expected to major and partake in the Home Economics department, but as always, she would rebel and sometimes skips her classes. If you can't find Aeyong anywhere, ask a scary looking punk where 'Dragon' is and they would answer with respect where the tomboyish girl was hanging out at. Well, at school, she is mostly treated like a gangster instead of a girl. She would be seen hanging around boys most of the time; during swimming lessons, during PE classes and even during lunch, there would always be a spot reserved for her.

You could say that she is not attracted to any of them and it goes the same for her too. They would even talk about 'boys' stuff' with her and the subject would go as far as you could just melt there and then if you were a normal girl unlike Aeyoung unfazed self. As for the girls, she hears many names for her. Whatever cruel, ugly, horrible, ear tormenting names you could think of, that would be her names. It was fine at first and afterwards. This went on since the last time she could remember. But, one day, one of the boys talked about pretty girls and slipped out that Aeyoung could impossibly have a boyfriend since she is too boyish for any guy's liking. She felt challenged and that wash when she resolved to get Cheon Sajangnim's help.

facts over fiction
| She took up martial arts lessons from her Grandpa since she was a little girl
| Aeyong is well-known as a female delinquent  |  She is also a star athlete and would always give great record to the schools she attended
Aeyong has a habit of punching herself on her thigh when she is bored
| She would prefer PE classes rather than Home Economics lessons
| The last time she tried to sew something, a few of the school's needles broke into half
|  She was sent to detention for feeding the teachers with her burnt cakes

■  my unique lifestyle
| At school, when it comes to General studies, Aeyong could be seen to enter her classes normally and she would give her full attention to her teachers especially when it comes to History, Biology and English. But eventually, Aeyong would slack off during Home Economics cause she has no interest in them whatsoever. She would skip the classes and would opt to sleep at the rooftop, where she wouldn't burn her finger over hot stoves or cut her fingers when she has to do cross stitches.

Outside of school, Aeyong would attend her martial arts class to practice and brush up her fighting skills. She dislikes it very much if she loses and she would feel that she has disgraced her Grandpa if it happens. Other than that, she would choose to go for a jog around the neighbourhood park for about half an hour or so and she would feel as if her head is cleared from all the problems she has. Or, you could even see her swim at the public swimming pool if she is not outside, enjoying a run on her own. Sometimes, she would even play basketball with the boys when they didn't have enough people to make a perfect team or sometimes, rolling around the grassy field with the other boys, playing soccer. Finally, if she wanted some peace and quiet, Aeyong would head off to the beach and have a night stroll on her own, enjoying the cool breeze of the sea, ruffling her short hair.

less is more, more is less | Aeyong is not a fashionista and her choice of wardrobe would sometimes scream guilty in the eyes of fashion judges, but she never really cares. Aeyong would opt for casually, comfortable clothes, jeans or jeggings, a cardigan or sweater and finally with a touch of sneakers. And sometimes, when she is daring enough, you would see her with short pants set and Aeyong does not have ay difficulties in flaunting her legs. To her, they are her priceless assets since it was toned correctly with the right amount of muscles. When she is forced to join school's prom night or one of her guy friends' parties, she would go with something different and would dress against the her own code of dressing, because her Mom would always dress her up. And even during her dates, Aeyong's Mom would force her to wear something more ladylike and pretty or even girly, much to her displease. But she would always find her ways to get into her own comfort zone.

hurt them, and that's the end of you。

the glue of my life. a part of me you will never take away

■ wasn't perfect to begin with
| Basically Aeyong's family lacks nothing and they have enough of anything. Being the only child in the family, undoubtedly, she is pampered by her Grandpa and her parents. But because of her personality, not much pampering was needed and Aeyong would be independent most of the time. Her Dad is a retired policeman who used to solve several cases and is a well-known figure in his department. Aeyong even had secretly helped out during one of her father's mission before his last retirement and the mission was successful. As for her Mom, the caring lady works as a baker at a nearby bakery shop and she would always bring the boys out to her Mom's workplace to grab a bite before they set off to go somewhere or to just hang out.

Aeyong would always be embarrassed if her Mom would ask if any one of them is her boyfriend, and she would quickly shoo the boys out of the cramped bakery shop. As for her Grandpa, he left them to head of to the Afterlife when Aeyong started 5th grade and being the usual tomboy she is, Aeyong did not shed a single tear because she knows her Grandpa would say that it is a sign of weakness. He used to take her everywhere that he goes when she was a toddler and it seems that she picked up her stubborn act from her Grandpa's strictness.

love does not cost a thing, right?

I don't want to end up alone.  if you die, I might just die with you.

you're the definition of perfection to me | Jet black; short hair, looks does not really matter as long as he is tall enough and it would be perfect for Aeyoung if he has some knowledge on martial arts.
■ I hate that I love you so. | Soft-spoken, hardworking, patient

I need you in my life, stop asking questions
| Originally, Aeyong wanted to prove to everyone that she is capable of being the girl next door everyone expects her to be. Many of her guy friends told her that she lacks femininity and no boy would actually date her and eventually she wouldn't get married and have kids. The thought was really fine at first because she thinks that it would be a really huge problem if she bear mini Aeyongs. Just the thought of it itself scared her to the point that she thinks that it would be fine to die alone after all.

But, once when the guys she hang out with talk about it once again, and when she came home and is attacked by her Mom's constant nagging about getting a boyfriend, something inside of Aeyong suddenly exploded and at that time she desperately needed someone - some guy - to come into her life, to be her boyfriend, yet to accept her for who she really is.

■ when I first met you
| Aeyong came to the said park by Cheon Sajangnim's request as she had chosen just the right boy for her and said that they would meet up there where it is close enough for both parties. Being the early riser and disliking tardiness, Aeyong had set off an hour earlier than the arranged time and sat down quietly on her own, with a very ill-fitting dress that comes with the colour she despise the most which she so want to rip off and just wear her normal ripped jeans and t-shirt. Luckily, she managed to sneak in a pair of shorts, sneakers and a random shirt in the little bag she was forced to carry with her. She then heard a few squeaking sound and whoops and shouts of boys, probably playing basketball and it happens to be few of her schoolmates. Aeyong would die if they see her all dolled up like that and she quickly dashed off into the toilet to change her clothes and shoes . Later, when she came back, she walked confidently into the indoor basketball court and demanded that they let her play with them. Some had laughed at her, but of course, her schoolmates were there to tell them that she was no joke. So eventually, they let her play and she sweat herself well with dribbling, running, and even shooting a few points for her team.

They were winning when suddenly one of the boys in the opposing team fell and injured himself. Now they lacked one player and suddenly, a soft voice spoke out: 'Mind if I join you guys?' Jet black hair, awkward smile and sharp eyes that were scanning the place, the said guy walked in, taking of his jacket and a few buttons of his button-up shirt. The guys agreed since they didn't want to loose, and so they began playing again. Little did Aeyong know that he was the guy she was supposed to meet, and she played on without giving a single care about the time. When she finally realize her purpose of going there, she quickly excused herself and they ended the game with a tie since the stranger is really good at what he does, and she went off to change back into her dress, with the icky, yucky sweat , but she never regretted it. She had lots of fun going against the quiet newcomer who slam dunked his way to catch up for the opposing team. When she finally settled down on the bench near the fountain, the same jet black hair guy came to her and said in Korean with Chinese slang layered among his words: 'Hi, Miss Shin. I'm your boyfriend.'

■ why are we doing this again?
| There would be the very beginning where he would try to gain her trust by doing all the things that she likes. He played basketball, he went to her Wushu lessons with her, he goes for swimming with her and even planned to sneak out during night time and they even strolled around the beach during their dates. He would always remind her that it is alright to be herself when she is around him and she is very happy at the thought of not faking her true self.

| Aeyong would slowly learn to trust a new stranger as her boyfriend, and then he would make her do things that he wants her to do. He would set out a rule a day, and Aeyong would follow it. Slowly, the boisterous tomboyish girl change and it was all because of the magic Cheon Sajangnim's boys were creating. He would take her down town and go shopping with her. He talked some fashion sense into her and make her try clothes that she never thought she would and he would praise her all the way. They would go out for dates at the cafe, at the amusement park and at few of the popular places around town; with the girlish outfits while holding on to her contract boyfriend like her life depended on him since she is still new to high heels.

| After that, she would introduce her contract boyfriend to her parents. It seems that her parents are charmed by his politeness and the way he is soft-spoken and respects the elder make her parents like him more. They even thanked him for changing her from the old her to the new girl she is now. Her contract boyfriend even planned out for her to 'accidentally' meet with the circle of boys who she always hang out with when she decline their offer to meet up at a certain place. He would say that they are missing a jewel by not being attracted to her and they went out on a date at the place they said to meet up and all the boys were shocked when they found their tomboy Dragon outdoors, all dolled up, hand in hand with a good looking fellow. How she loved the reaction they gave her and her contract boyfriend.

we have arrived to the very end.

any comments?
  • I have an issue, just a tiny one on the final part; 'Love has a price', umm, I'm not really sure the amount I should put actually. Please let me know if I should make any adjustments there.
  • And sorry if I made too many requests and that they are long. Plus, their first meeting, I could shorten in up if you don't want it.
  • It is quite sad knowing that when they would finally get attached to each other, they have to end their contract. I wish they could do something about it. Oh well, this is just my wishful thinking.
  • I'm applying for the 'Athletic Tomboy' plotline
suggestions?
  • Maybe there would be a double date among the couples?
  • Could there be a breach of contract that one or two of the couples would want to stay together? (I'm greedy, I know)

I'm all done. Thank you for your time and patience going through my app. Hopefully, there will be good news. Thanks again :)
