can someone help me before i throw myself off a cliff

so to save you guise a ton of info, i have this 16GB flashdrive with all my music and my edits and my pictures and my documents on it, everything i've ever written as a kid and all the fanfics i'm writing now.

the only issue is that it ing broke on me BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S WRONG.

see the thing is when i plug it into my laptop or any other laptop for that matter, it just lights up like crazy and my pc (hey did i mention that i got a new laptop yeah yeah yeah well i did) makes that "TINGGG" sound when something's plugged in but it doesn't recognize it!

like i tried with my other memory sticks (flashdrives?) and they work perfectly fine, but idk why this one isn't! it just stays shining for as long as it's plugged it and it won't stop, but i can't find it anywhere on any computer files.

i tried googling this to see what was wrong but it's too broad of a topic so i can't find an answer :((

FREAKING EVERYTHING I ALREADY TYPED IS IN THERE AND I DON'T WANNA RETYPE ANYTHING. DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW LAZY I AM. DO YOU.

so someone please help mee

and srsly if you're reading any of my stories rn i ain't updating for like six years if that thing doesn't get fixed because dammit THAT THING HAS MY LIFE IN IT 

no i'm kidding loooool but still

oh hey and guise never use flashdrives DON'T TRUST THEM THEY BREAK ON YOU

or it's just me idk

Try this, it's an older solution, but it might work. If it does, I suggest backing up your files on Google Docs or hiding chapters on your fics so you have backups if your flashdrive doesn't work again.

1. Hit the Windows key (between the Alt and Ctrl keys) and E key simultaneously to open a new Explorer window.

2. Right-click My Computer and select Manage.

3. Under Storage, select Disk Management.

4. (This is the critical step that will tell you if this is going to work or not) At the bottom of the window you should see a list drives associated with your computer. If your flash drive is listed, good news! This procedure should fix your problem. Go to step 5.

5. Right click on the drive listed in that window which will bring up a menu. Select Change Drive Letter and Paths.

6. Another window will appear showing your missing drive. Select Change.

7. Another window will appear with a drop down menu on the right. Select the letter W.

8. When the message Changing The Drive Letter of a Volume Might Cause Programs No Longer To Run. appears, click Yes.

9. Your flash drive should now appear under My Computer.

I save also have an external hard drive. For edits, I also upload them in Photobucket and Flickr. I still have to make an online backup for my docs.
