Background: She grew up in a three person family. She was born in South Korea, but moved to the States due to her father's job transfer. She knows fluent English, from living in the states, and Fluent Korean. She grew up in New York, so she became very independent and street-smart, knowing her way around areas. She had an average family life, nothing interesting went on. Until, her 15th birthday when her parents would constantly fight and fight. A couple months before her birthday, her parents got divorced.

Mai choosed to live with her mother from then on, and she and her mother moved back to Korea. Her father stayed in the states for work purposes. Mai felt a little awkward and sad without both of her parents together, but she saw how much happier they seemed apart, so she let her sadness go. Mai went to a nearby high school, not too far from where she lived with her mother. She was the new transfer student, and since she was new she knew no one. She was sought as a loner and just kept to herself mostly. Mai would usually just go to the back of the school and lay under the shady tree to listen to music during their breaks. Mai really didn't seem to care whether she had people with her, but she sort of felt lonely on the inside.

One day, when Mai was usually sitting by the tree listening to music and may be catching up on her sleep, a girl happened to have interupted her peaceful time. Mai shot a deathly glare at the girl, but although the girl flinched and looked somewhat fazed, she didn't back off. She just introduced herself. Mai wondered what her motive was, and became suspicious of the girl. The girl seemed to be nice, but Mai learned to never trust others so easliy. Mai just "shooed" her away, but she was definitely persistant and would just keep coming back to talk to Mai. Mai had to give the girl cred. for never giving up, and although Mai never spoke a word to the girl, the girl would just try her best to sprak up a convesation with Mai. Mai thought the girl was a nuisance, but who would've thought that the "nuisance" would soon become her best friend.

Personality: She is head-strong and independent. She is a huge jokester, and very sarcastic. She has a straight forward personality, and is not the type to sugar coat her words. She has a very sharp-tongue and her words can sometimes make grown men cry. She barely smiles, only to those she is close to. She usually has her signature smirk on, which makes her look like a "troublemaker." She can't deny that she loves to pull pranks, but she wouldn't call herself a troublemaker or a rebel. Her classmates think otherwise. Although she does cause "trouble" and is usually blamed for most if not all of the mishaps that happens in school, she is actually quite smart. Though she uses her smarts for evil sometimes, she does recieve good marks on tests.

She is also very reliable. Though she doesn't trust others so easily, if they are able to gain her trust then one would find out how fun and easy-going Mai can really be. Though she can be tough on the outside, she is sort of a softy for her family and best friend on the inside ^^
