uBeat "Should've Treated You Better" Review

First off, I pretty much know nothing about U-Kiss but that didn't stop my interest in uBeat. Thanks to another night of random link clicking, I came across a YouTube video of the song "Should've Treated You Better" and immediately went on a quest to get the whole album.

For other bands, this isn't a surprise but as I dip my feet into kpop even more, I'm beginning to shape my kpop taste. For instance, for me, there is a very thin line between aegyo and oh my god I can't deal with this. The latter being a bad reaction. And this album just so happens to graze the line pleasantly. It's so cute but I can still keep my food down, so to speak.

Even the intro, which is basically an entire minute of either Kevin, Eli, or AJ (I just don't know) going on about how Kevin, Eli, and AJ are about to tear it up, doesn't annoy me! And usually when members go on about themselves or list shout outs to several people (ehem Jay Park) I'm like okay, whatever, dude just get on with it.

It doesn't annoy me because the album does deliver and it is good. It should've been obvious, with a name like uBeat after all, but I love how the beats in the songs are on the same level as the singing itself. It feels like true team work instead of vocals over some garageband track thrown into production.

My only complaint is the end of the remix for "Party All The Time" sounds like a Kidz Bop cd got scratched and is skipping in a cd player but the remix of "Sweety Girl" sounds like something Perfume could come out with so that makes up for the previous disaster.

In all, I can see this being on replay for the next month and maybe even the upcoming summer too.
