Gosh, what does K-Pop mean to me? That's a broad question. To me, it's a way to see into a whole new culture - yeah, yeah, some people may say that South Korea's pop culture is the same as the USA's, or that they borrow from us and whatnot. But really, S.K. has turned their pop music into a genre all their own. Sure, at its heart it's still pop music, but the way they go about it is so... different. From the training to the production to the fashion to the hilarious, almost cult-like fandoms, it's been a blast for me to experience it, to speculate, to admire and enjoy. For me, K-Pop is just another form of inspiration that I find when looking at the world. It makes my ideas flow and my mind work in overdrive. Not to mention all the friends I've met along the way. I'll never forget this stage of my life, even if my interest eventually wanes, because I will always carry remnants of this adventure with me, whether it be people, ideas, or simply memories.

Kpop tells a story behind people who once dreamed and continues to be the person whom they are proud to be. And by those stories, Kpop became my inspiration. It controls a big part of my life. It is one of the things that come through my mind every time I wake up in the morning. It causes a change, a better change. It is the reason why I continue to be a great person. Whenever things get hard or when I feel like giving up, it doesn't fail to cheer me up. It gives me new hopes every day. I strive hard, do good things and continue improving myself. I learned to be myself, not pretending to be someone else. Now, I know and I can picture the person whom I really want to be. Kpop has been a part of my system for quite some time now and I believe it will, forever. Kpop is an addiction. Once you've entered, you can hardly see the way out.

I could never list all the reasons I love kpop because I would end up writing an essay. Although I will say, it's a very family like thing- you meet another kpop fan and you're instant friends. Thanks to an established kpop community in my city, I was brought out of my shell and into a legitimate social life, I made good friends and memories for life. It's introduced me to a whole different world that I never could've imagined. ~ Name is Greer, from Canada.

Gonna keep it short.

Kpop is part of my life.I've become so involved and intertwined that I don't think I'd ever be able to separate myself from it.It's a drug that I can't get off of as well as an antidote for when I'm in a horrible mood.
The reason why I prefer Kpop to other music is because I'm able to connect much more to kpop because I'm asian, chinese and koreans and us shares a lot of the same ideas and culture. I actually enjoy a lot of other music like chinese, japanese, english, hell even spanish and french but kpop is the only one that I make an effort to get to know it better
I love freedom because of the happiness and freedom it gives me. Time goes by so fast when I'm doing something related to kpop. And the excitement I feel when my favorite group has a comeback is one that's alien to me until I found out about kpop. The feeling of wanting to jump all around my room and sing crazily in happiness. Kpop has also taught me a lot of things but that'd go on forever so I'll stop.

The best way to describe Kpop, in my opinion, is like candy. There is something so irresistible and almost addictive about it, in it's bright visuals and it's polished sound. It's an escape from the pains of reality and it's a way of fixing what's wrong. Whenever I feel sad or angsty, or something terrible happens and I just need to cope, I know a simple kpop song can cheer me up. It's stupid and most likely juvenile, but there is something about it that is so hopeful and gorgeous that you can't help but love it. I like most people in Kpop; a big difference Kpop has from American Pop is so much less competition based. The competition is fun, not cruel and it's so different from how the industry here is were artists are pitted against one another and encouraged to slander someone for attention. As an international fan, I'm glad it's spreading. Not so much because it helps the Kpop industry, but because it gives others the chance to experience the happiness and beauty it can bring.

I hope this helps and I hope you don't mind that it's so lengthy. Just some of my own personal musings on the topic. Good luck to your friend!!

Kpop is a way for me to really LISTEN to music again. The new western music is all about club beats and textes about alcohol, drugs and s*x. Well, obviously not every song, but far too many for me to turn on any radio station without fearing for those songs. Korean music is giving me the possibility to listen to beautiful melodies again and makes me just enjoy the song for I can't understand anything anyway and because Korea is quite conservative there just aren't many songs about that kind of stuff. Now I'm not a person who says that there can only be one kind of music and that mine is the best. There are still many English songs I like, I just like them in Korean more. I can't really emplain why, but I think that the language just sounds beautiful. Of course there is still the point of good looking idols. I admit that I quite like the sight, but that would never be a reason for me to listen to their music.
Also through Kpop (a friend first inroduced me to it) I bonded more with some of my friends and some made fun of me. The making fun almost died down after about one and a half year, but they're still annoyed (though I say almost NOTHING about it in front of them, wich is rediculous as it is, because I listen to the things they want to talk about without caring if it fits into my personal interests).
Also I have made a few friends from all over the world and the whole Kpop fandom (ignoring their favourite groups) feels kind of like a big family in which everyone understands the other, though speaking in all different languages.

I hope this helps your friend :D
I wish I could do a presentation about kpop. I would definetly include crossdressing :D
