appearance/style:
min jee has a baby face. she's still growing in some sorts, and her baby fat is still lingering here and there, but min jee is one of the rare girls to be proud of it. she's on the shorter side; and though it's pain-staking to say, she's also on the flatter side. her figure is relatively healthy however, and though she isn't the curviest or the slimmest, min jee is proud to say she is amazingly average in physique.

she has natural brown hair that is long enough to come down to her shoulders, but because of her peculiarity and odd mindset, she wears a blonde wig styled into a rather short bob. alongside this strange feat, she wears bright make-up; her most signature look being her green eyeshadow and pink gloss (giving her quite the watermelon-y feel). she's not entirely ugly without makeup, but for her own purposes, min jee is never seen without at least one layer of makeup. she has pale skin and doesn't ever really seem to tan, but she's proud of that, too.

her style is just as odd as she gets. she puts much effort into using her clothing to stand out from other students. Her creativity is always reflected through her offbeat and bright wardrobe choices. She enjoys colorful clothing, offset by the hippie era and flamboyant accessories. She adores accessorizing, particularly patterned skirts, earrings, and thick-rimmed glasses. She has a fondness for yellow and pink.

extras:
  • min jee has a small scar on the top right corner of her forehead, which she acquired as a child from fallin down a flight of stairs.
  • she also has a small mole at the base of her earlobe
  • both of her ears are pierced with double piercings

 [ i'm gorgeous and i know it. ]

So, i'm not some average girl, i'm extraordinary !

personality:
min jee is fun, energetic, and awe-inspiring; in all honesty, min jee would hate for anyone to view her as banal or just ordinary, so she goes to massive lengths to stand out from the crowd. whether it be through her wardrobe, witty remarks, or peculiar sense of humor, min jee is definitely not ever peceived as typical around campus. she puts on the air of being an enlightened individual, but it's really a ploy to manipulate those around her. min jee is always looking for reckless fun; if not that, then attention. she's an odd ball with a naturally bizarre character. she is very witty (quick-witted, might you add), but she's also very playful. her uncouth sense of humor may be weird to others, and at times, even insensitive. but who is min jee to give a damn?

she's quite melodramatic as well, and it all adds on to her character. she stands out as it is, but because she's so desirous of the spotlight, she goes to even further lengths to acquire the attention of her peers. the above characteristics of min jee is what prompts her to even wear a wig. it adds to the vibrant aura she emanates, and she thinks it's cute, so.. her manipulative character comes into play when she wants something. she's not simplistic either, so when she wants something, it's normally a rather selfish request (eg. a new minnie mouse collection, money, food, or new decor for her fishbowl). it rarely ever works, but she thinks it does, so she continues her enlightened facade just to keep her game going. all these outlandish feats of min jee give her a boost to her ego as well. she's weird, and she's proud (but it's really only because she's got the attention of her peers, finally)

as fun and magnetic as min jee can be, her playful banters and childishness can give off a rather irritating vibe. most outcast her because a) she's quite embarassing to be seen with in public; whatnot with her 4-D personality and quirky dress, b) she's also kind of inconsiderate with her sense of humor, and c) the girl's most likely demented at best. if this were some cliched disney channel movie, min jee would automatically win the role of the freaky nerd with thick-framed glasses -- you know, the nerd that likes to ramble about their experiments and labratory ventures? but despite it all, min jee is content with how her surrounding peers perceive her to be. after all, ever since college started, she's finally been able to make a name for herself (good or bad doesn't even matter anymore); because at least now there's a very low chance that anybody will discover her foreboding secret: that she's just an ordinary girl looking for excitement to spice up her placid life.

So, my boy is rockin' and

one fine specimen of a man!

love interest: jung daehyun

major: music production

occupation/clubs:
he is just an advisor for the university's vocal club. he doesn't sing much in front of others in fear of the criticism he might receive in turn; (potential alley cat?)

personality:
jung daehyun is the type to be every girl's heart throb - cool, mysterious, and diffident with the world. slightly apathetic and collected, the reserved jung daehyun prefers studying by himself in the library rather than socializing or interacting with others. he's the type to choose a bio-chem major because he knows not many people study it, and those that do, are typically characters like him: taciturn and borderline anti-social. jung daehyun is unsurprisingly the type to miss out on big breaks or life-changing opportunities because he's too lazy to get off his to pursue after what lies ahead for his future. he never has much of an opinion for anything and this facade brinks close to giving him a cold aura; most perceive daehyun as the prince of glaciers.

however, behind this mask, there lies any ordinary boy. he's not some contradictory cliche character that is secretly fun-loving and charismatic. he's just.. your ordinary, banal, 20-year-old college student. his only talent is found in studying, and his only hobby is singing - which he tries his hardest to improve at all times. his best efforts are put into trying to stay out of the spotlight because we all know deep down, someone like daehyun wasn't made for that kind of stuff. his refusal to associate himself with his peers is from his lack of trust, his disability to do so, much thanks to the tumult known as his family. his past situations often called upon daehyun to act as the adult, and these all play to his rather unamusing behavior.

but despite his constant effort to shy away from attention, one thing is clear: daehyun has the raw potential to be a rather good-natured singer. and that's what makes everybody encourage him to try out for the alley cats.

how you met/will meet:
an early monday morning, daehyun found himself alone in the university library. he was tediously drawing a picture, as he had seemingly finished his homework and reading already; and the sketch he was drawing was of a building. he had no plans for it -- it wasn't his forte, anyways, so who cared? it was placid, just a block building with windows here and doors there, and maybe a touch of arches here, as well. as he finished, daehyun had proudly lifted up the picture to view it more closely. he was genuinely proud -- he wasn't an artistic person at all, and it had turned out to be seemingly decent. he wasn't even aware of he was drawing until now, so it was an astonishment it had turned out so flavorful.

however, the guest that had entered the library ten minutes prior to daehyun's self-revelation disagreed. "i don't know why you're smiling, mister. if i drew something as pedestrian as that, i'd be crying. it lacks color, exuberance, and personality." daehyun turns around to glare at the intruder and finds min jee slouching with a cocked brow raised; she was staring at the sketch in his hands still. the color of his pencil was scribbled across the page sloppily, giving the building he had drawn a metallic and dull feel. "you must not be in professor oh's class. you probably aren't even an aspiring architect."

her words made daehyun lift a brow of his own. "and who are you to say?"
"yang min jee, architecture engineering major."
"jung daehyun, music production major," daehyun returned curtly.

min jee cocked her head at the brunette male. "i didn't ask, jung daehyun."

touche, min jee.

how do you act around each other:
they don't behold the most typical companionship. they're opposites and they know it. daehyun and min jee are constantly at odds, butting heads against one another; whether it be in who is smarter, has more talent, or tells better jokes, they are arguing over it. as observed by peers, min jee seems to be the only one who is able to break the thick glass of daehyun's poke-faced facade; she's also the only one that can pull more than a string of five words out of him in one sitting -- not that's impressive. it must be her ability to push at his buttons and constantly place the spotlight on him, because whenever they are together, as expected of min jee, limelight is there, and people are watching.

min jee is undeniably attracted to daehyun, in one way or another; for his personality, mysterious aura, or good looks, the reason is unknown, but min jee is attracted to him. daehyun's impression of min jee is still unknown. because of these components, min jee has developed a somewhat obsessive nature around daehyun, but it's all a part of her melodramatic act. she's not really crazy. she tries to initiate much skinship and a majority of the conversations, to which daehyun blatantly rejects or shoves off; but as time progresses, daehyun slowly opens up, and a little bit of each other rubs off on one another. daehyun's cold exterior melts and he becomes slightly more talkative and affable; and for min jee, though her peculiarity remains, at least she's more grounded to reality because of daehyun.

back up: lee sungyeol

major: philosophy

occupation/clubs:
he is in the university's vocal club, but is not an alley cat. he, however, is in fact a veteran member of vocal clubs and is the vice president of the university's vocal club. he also works as an occassional performer at a nearby coffee shop

personality:
sungyeol is a very bright person. he's fun and charismatic; friendly and amiable, sungyeol is very easy to converse with and adamant in making friends. his upbeat personality is what makes the girls adore him so, and is also what makes the guys so envious. his zealous and optimistic exuberance elicits a child-like persona that truly suits his radiant smile and cheerful behavior. with his surplus of optimism and elation, sungyeol is rarely ever found grimacing. his frinds and family often refer to him as choding because of his 4-D personality and childishness. he doesn't mind attention, but he doesn't crave it either; he doesn't let rumors or harsh remarks affect him. and all around, sungyeol is a good-natured guy with a hearty attitude to top it off with perfection. but he has flaws of course, as no one is entirely flawless; and that is sungyeol's disability in being serious at necessary times. life is one big fun game for sungyeol, and though he is naturally humorous and comedic, if you're in pain, he'll be laughing; and that also makes the seemingly perfect and kind guy an insensitive jerk.

how you met/will meet:
coincidentally, they take the same buses and go the same routes; sungyeol just gets off two stops before min jee does. the two have seen each other and have even acknowledged one another once or twice, but they have never actually met or have gotten acquainted. it only happens when sungyeol and min jee simultaneously get out of class late - min jee because she had a diagram to present to her professor, and sungyeol because he had a thesis to turn in to his professor - and the two are running towards the bus stop, right on each other's tail.

sungyeol, thanks to his long gait and agile instinct, made it onto the bus on time; min jee didn't. however, as sungyeol hands the bus driver his subscription card, he turns around to to find a seat, but as he does so, finds min jee running after the bus. he recognizes her and turns abruptly to the driver in order to prevent him from moving. "let's wait for my friend," sungyeol suggests kindly with a charming smile. and so they wait, thus allowing min jee to catch her bus. she's panting as she lurches forward onto the first steps of the entrance, lifting her head to find a smiling sungyeol.

she shoots him a grateful look, and with an amiable smile, sungyeol says, "you're welcome."

how do you act around each other:
they're quite friendly around one another. because their personalities are similar, they often have the same ideas and thoughts, to which they share whole-heartedly with one another. sungyeol often makes min jee laugh, and min jee often fuels sungyeol's childish brain with admiration. they compliment each other well and are often perceived as partners in crime or two peas in a pod.

[ i may not need a man, but sometimes i can't help but have my eyes on one special guy. ]

So, music is my soul, so let me let out the beast

within me!

how did you get in the 'red hots':
the red hots group actually holds auditions; and to publicize themselves, they put up flyers and bulletins everywhere around the university campus. min jee was just minding her own business, strolling down corridors after class when she stumbled upon a flyer taped to her locker. she examined it closely and found that the red hots were holding auditions to form a group together to go against the alley cats. at first, min jee was incredulous; the alley cats were notorious for their singing and dancing abilities. but the longer she stared at the flyer, the more intrigued she was about it.

she decided to go through with the audition. just for the kicks, she had said. and as she went into the audition process, instead of the typical singing or dancing the red hots had seen previousy and had expected, min jee gave a performance of spoken word; she used her own poem, one that was inpsired by edgar allan poe. she was alluring, yet wild in all ways possible, and had given off the melancholy edge poe had. the proctors of the judging raised their brows.

"weird." they had said, and dismissed her.
she didn't make it, but that was expected; she didn't mind. she continued her daily routine and continued her vocal practices alone once the practice room cleared out. however, one evening, on the last day of the audition trials, one of the red hot members walked in on min jee, and thus began a beautiful partnership.
"so you can sing. why didn't you just do that at your audition?"
"one, you never asked. two, i wanted to leave an impression."

and she got in.

talent: vocals, spoken word

what is your view towards music:
"music is fun. i like it because you can express yourself; well there's that, and the attention. i only know how to sing and maybe do a bit of spoken word art, but music is something that's really essential to one's lifestyle. it's a fun experience; it also gives you something to do if you ever have spare time, you know? music is also a form of expression and stuff, but that's just the cliched answers. music in more ways than one affects my life; it gives me confidence, and it gives me an excuse to crave more spotlight. it puts my stress away and i forget about everything when i sing.

it just to know that music has been degraded to something as money and popularity as a basis. i mean, i like spotlight and attention, and i do like money, but music shouldn't be solely based on those two factors. music is just so much more than that, and i wish people could see it. i dont think i'd be who i am to do without music because music gives color and personality. i'd probably be some ordinary architecture student without music -- much like that jung daehyun. im sure he has no music in that placid life of his because god, is he so tedious!"

[ music knows me better than anyone else. ]

So, let your thoughts flow!

comments/questions/concerns?:
not many. everything about this fic is fine and enjoyable.
but if there's something too crazy or too odd about the app, just let me know; i'll fix it, HAHAHAHAHA, i think i went overboard on the creativity, and for that OTL. HAHAHHAHA.

also, idk about daehyun being an alley cat. i want to stick with how i portrayed his character, but a the same time, i dont want him to be an alley cat because of how i said he tries to shy away from all the popularity and stuff. i jut put potential alley cat so you can decide on your own. sorry HAHAHAHHA OTL. i just didnt want his character to be so contradicting lolol

also, regarding the fact that (just in case) there might not be a vocal club at the university:
sungyeol would still be the occassional performer at the local coffee shop; though he doesn't perform as a soloist, he performs with a small group (maybe a trio or quartet at most); you can choose s.
as for daehyun, since he's a music production major, maybe he and a few classmates of his could have a group of their own. but since he shies away from spotlight, instead of their group being a performance act, they could just be like the team of people that creates backbeats and tracks for aspiring artsists. to go into detail, he could be one of those students that create joint-collabs with like vocal and theater students, and as a music production major, works behind the scenes by making edits and adjustments in order to help other students create their portfolios/audition tapes for major auditions.

does that make sense? o.o just let me know if there's anything i can clarify; i tend to be wordy, sorry! c:

scene requests:
  • maybe while performing, one of the rival groups/antagonists kill the red hots' performance by storming on stage. the plan is to sabotage against any member, so they choose the easier one: min jee. nobody prior to this event knew she wore a wig until now becaus the antagonist characters storm up to min jee and pull off her wig.
    • the antagonist characters found out about minjee's wearing a wig because one of the rival female spies secretly caught min jee in the bathroom altering the placing of the wig on her head (min jee had thought she was alone, having checked all the stalls; unfortunatley, she forgot to lock the bathroom doors as she always does, and didnt hear the incoming stranger enter either)
  • idk if you wanted to do the confession scene yourself, but here's a suggestion: they're sitting alone in a park or something and min jee pretends to have a gift for daehyun for some reason (lol). she pretends to reach into her pocket and as daehyun questions what she has, he tilts his head to catch a look of what she might have in her pocket. instead, she kisses him by surprise and runs away.
