Girl Problems

~Girl Problems

Dear Ruby, this is for you. You're so lame (who am I to say) but I love you anyway.

“What would she even like?” Jinki asks himself, placing his cold hand on his warm cheek as he sits on a cold park bench, listening to the sound of children playing on the swings, and sliding down the slide.

The grass is green, the sky is blue, and it’s a beautiful day, but it’s too beautiful. Jinki an invisible beard on his chin as he thinks carefully.

It’s February the fourteenth, and it’s really no average Thursday. It’s Valentine’s Day, and he needs to get a present for his girlfriend, because it’s not Valentine’s Day if you don’t have a present for your lover. Or at least, that’s what Jinki thinks.

Jinki pulls out a tiny green notebook, one which he likes to call the Handy-Dandy notebook, and he takes out the green crayon in the coil of the notebook, and places it on the first page.

He begins to draw what seems like jewelry, and he labels it ‘red,’ because Rubies are red, and that’s what works. But then he thinks, and flips to the next page, drawing a bit of fried chicken.

“No, no, that’s unhealthy, she might not like that,” he mutters to himself, scribbling out the chicken.

Jinki stares at the next blank page, and then realizes he’s wasting quite a bit of paper, and he sighs to himself, slumping in his posture.

“This is so hard, oh goodness,” Jinki says to himself, and rather loudly, because a small little girl, no older than six, skips up to Jinki.

She’s cute, and chubby, and wearing a light blue T-shirt with a bunny on it and dark blue trousers, and she’s wearing a gigantic smile on her face, and her two front teeth are missing, and Jinki thinks it’s the cutest thing ever, right after Ruby.

She flicks her dark brown hair and looks up at Jinki.

“I know, girl problems,” She coos sympathetically, hopping up on the bench (it looks like it took some skill and effort), and she stands up and tiptoes on the bench, just to pat Jinki on the head.

It takes the confused male a while before he responds, “Yeah,” he ends up agreeing lamely, “Girl problems.”

The young girl, no older that six, hops off the bench, and she starts to resemble the animal on her T-shirt just a little bit.

“My name is Alyssa,” the little girl says, offering up her hand as if she was going to ask a question. “Take my hand, I know things.”

Jinki raises a suspicious brow, and takes her hand cautiously, and to match her height, he hand to bend his knees a little and crouch. “Where’s your mum?”

“Doesn’t matter,” She growls, taking off at full speed, “I know the perfect solution to your girl problems.” Her voice drops, as if she’s about to tell a secret, “If you didn’t know, I’m a girl too.”

Jinki’s eyes shine like a crescent moon as he laughs wholeheartedly, still being pulled along by the strangely fast young child.

They arrive abruptly at the front of a rather small store down a shady alleyway (Jinki’s not even sure if Alyssa is supposed to know how to get to this place), and he’s rather frightened, because it’s dark.

“This,” Alyssa the young girl no older than six announces, “is the perfect plan for a gift.”

And as Jinki steps inside, he realizes just how perfect it is, and with a large, goofy grin on his face, he takes out money and grabs the sparkling object off the shelf and places it on the counter.

-

Jinki is pushed into his shared house with the girl of his dreams by the small girl-matchmaker-thing, and with a small ‘fighting!’ she’s off.

He’s holding the small, blue box in his hands, and he walks into the living room nervously, and his eyes land on the dark blonde-haired girl sitting on the couch, munching on some food he doesn’t really care for.

A large grin pops on his face, falling in love again and again.

“Ruby,” he voices out, and the girl looks at him curiously, face stuffed with chips, and Jinki starts to laugh. “You look funny!”

She smiles and flicks her hair, scoffing, and turns off the television. “Well, I look fabulous, naturally.

Jinki laughs a bit and throws his head back, taking the box and putting it in front of himself, so Ruby can see it.

“What’s in the box thingy?” She asks after another while.

Jinki walks in front of her and kneels down on one knee and opens it dramatically, making sound effects with his voice.

Ruby peers inside the small, blue box, and sees a glittering rubber duck with a top hat and a mustache. She gingerly picks it up and admires it before flinging herself towards Jinki, who laughs and hugs her back.

“How did you know I’ve always wanted this?”

“A little girl no older than six in the park called Alyssa told me all girls wanted one,” Jinki rubbed the back of his herd sheepishly.

“I love you,” Ruby laughs, and places her head on Jinki’s shoulder, who wraps his arms around her waist. Ruby doesn't admit it, but she loves Alyssa too, because Alyssa is amazing.

“And I wub wub wub you like dubstep.”

“Are you sure you're not an alien because you've abducted my heart.

Jinki eyes Ruby down playfully, Two can play at that game. Are you a hurricane? Because you blow me away.

If you were a booger I'd pick you first.” Ruby laughs, and Jinki gives her a slightly disgusted looking grimace.

If I was a Jedi, would you be my force?

Do you believe in love at first sight, or should I walk by again?

Jinki pauses a while before looking at Ruby for a bit, but we've been together for two years.

Hey, I thought this was just lame pick-up lines!

Well at least mine work.

And then they kiss and dramatically ride off into the sunset together on Siwon and they live happily ever.

The End.
