When you finish a story

You know those stories that are so freaking good that you just want to love it forever? 

Yeah, I was reading one of those. And "POOF!" the author decided to end it. Flat. Done. One last chapter to wrap everything up in a loose bundle and throw it out to the woods.

Worst. Ending. I've. Ever Read.

If you know me, I like comment on EVERYTHING! If you have me as a subbie, I'll freaking comment on every chapter if possible.

For that story, I really wanted to leave a comment like "...... O_O. That was it? O_O" but, of course, I was taught that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all, which is why I just closed the window and opened up a new blog post, which leads me up to this question.

Would you rather have 1 comment about how much a reader disliked the chapter/story/w.e or no comment at all?

For me, I think I'd rather have no comment at all, which is why I didn't leave one. What about you guys?

I'd choose the 1 comment even if the reader disliked it.Because when someone comment's in my stories my heart skip's a beat.But then when I read the comment it's just plain 'update soon'.I had this one reader,in one of my stories and he/she just kept on commenting-'update soon'.I'M SO FREAKIN' IRRITATED!

But if you want to improve, criticism is necessary

If the criticism is not constructive, then you should not take offense or pay attention because that leaves you nowhere to grow.

If the comment is written in a civilized manner, I'd rather have the reader tell me what they think. How can I improve if I don't know where my faults lie?
I'd rephrase the saying: "If you can't say it nicely, don't say it at all." Because sometimes certain negative things need to be pointed out. Otherwise how is one supposed to get better?

if i ave comments where the readers tell me what they think, then i could possibly change it and make it better (to shorten that, i will edit it) in order for people to not be (that) disappointed

I'd like to know what my readers are thinking but sometimes it scares me if they want it to have a specific thing. Like they want some turns and twist in fanfics. As a person who comments on things, I comment on every chapter/update as well. Unless I'm a bit too lazy or I had to go do my hw or don't comment at all. Though I always like to comment!

Constructive criticism would be fine, but being mean and harsh is another thing (not that you would be mean or harsh, but there are limits.)

Ah, this is pretty tough for me because it's good to know what's on the readers mind but personally I can't handle criticism too well. Especially if it's a little on the blunt/ harsh side. I think if the reader was really dissatisfied though I rather have a PM than anything.

I would like to know what my readers are honestly thinking but if it's harsh, then I'd rather they keep it to themselves. Constructive criticism is one thing but being tactless is another xD

Hmm... I like it if someone comments about my story and give me constructive critism. It's a way to improve so I don't mind but if the reader is scared of embarassing the author of something, I think it's better to approach the author personally by PM-ing them...

If I were to write a story, I would want someone to tell me exactly how they felt. As a commenter, I comment if it needs a little bit of work, though if I'm completely confused, or absolutely hate it, I'll just plain out close the story. So I think I'm a bit of a hypocrite in that aspect.

I don't care if they comment or not but I would be curious as to what they thought of my story, so I can find away to improve it better since I have a habit of making my endings like that ^^;

I choose to not show my opinion anonymously on the poll so here's my answer:
I would prefer comments. Good or bad. I just hope that both good and back comments have some feedback. Sure, the comments that voice displeasure are a big blow to my ego, but they are extremely helpful. I hope this helps. ^^
