A Shot to His Broken Heart

Youngjae's eyes fluttered open, his vision adjusting to the darkness as he found himself staring at the ceiling in his bed. He could see the moonlight penetrating from the window in the room, signaling that it was still the middle of the night. He knew that he wasn't going to get any sleep tonight knowing that he had to start his plan soon. A wave of emotions washed over him as he thought of the events that will occur due to taking the matters with his own hands. Youngjae turned his head to the left and his eyes softened at the sight. His first and one and only lover facing towards him with his eyes closed, peacefully sleeping as his chest rose and fell in a steady beat. Just looking at him sent his heart racing and he cursed himself for falling in love with the enemy. They were all his enemies. Yet, he became so attached to them despite being the last one to join the gang. He knew it was risky taking on the mission. He knew he could've asked someone else to do it but his arrogance crushed his reasonable self, sealing his fate with his own words. Being the one with the brain, he thought it would be a peace of cake. How hard could it be? However, he didn't know that his emotions would be the only thing that would hold him back, making him feel hesistant and nearly sorry for them. Youngjae carefully placed a hand on his lovers cheeks, sending sparks up his arm that broke his heart. How he wished he could just stay with him forever, holding him close and showering him with kisses and love. He had fallen head over heels for the boy and it killed him inside. He could already imagine his face when he finds out what kind of a person Youngjae really was; a betrayer, a liar, a backstabber, and a heartbreaker. He knew he would never be forgiven but he wouldn't forgive himself either. Yes, Youngjae deeply regretted his choices. He regreted everything from the moment he said the words "I'll do it." It would have been better if Youngjae never met him or the others than being the bad guy. He incoherently chuckled at the thought of labeling himself as a bad guy as he reached over to his jacket that was sprawled across the chair right next to the bed, feeling the outline of the police badge in his hands. Oh, how ironic.

Youngjae brought himself back to when he first met the rest. Of course, he planned it out perfectly for them to meet regardless, and it was obviously a success. Observing their looks, they all seemed easy to fool; a typical badass looking leader, a good-looking right hand man, a very muscular body guard, an extremely tall and swift chaser, and then there was him. He didn't think that he would have such an impact on his life but they became inseperable, doing everything together as a pair. And, the rest knew how deep their relationship became. It didn't take long for them to openly showcase their love for each other and their relationship, with the support from the rest, as they hugged, held hands, and kissed for the first time, and many followed after that. Youngjae was brought back to reality as a sudden cold gust of wind made its way into the room through the small opening of the window. Youngjae felt the bed move as the other slightly shuddered, but was still fast asleep. He couldn't hold back a soft smile as he wrapped the blanket even closer to him, making sure to keep him warm.

Youngjae took a deep breath and let out a miserable sigh. Why was his heart so easy? Why did he let them break down his walls? Youngjae wished he could just shoot his heart for being such an obstacle. He was loyal to the good side. But he wanted to be loyal to them; to him - so ing much. Be he knew he couldn't. To listen to his heart would mean failure. And, Yoo Youngjae would never settle for anything less than perfection on his part for the good side. However, it kept getting harder and harder for him to side with the good guys. Why did he have to love him? Why couldn't they live in the same world? A world where they weren't so different so that they could peacefully be together. But, those situations came from fairy tales. And, Youngjae certainly did not live in one. "Reality is cruel and harsh," is what they always used to say, and he couldn't agree more.

Shaking away his thoughts for the moment, Youngjae sat up, hoping not to awaken the other. To his relief, he didn't. He took out his cellphone from his jacket pocket and slowly typed up a message. His finger hovered over the 'send' button hesitantly. But, he knew it had to be done. He pressed down on the screen and 'Your message has been sent.' appeared. He closed his eyes, preparing himself mentally for the events that will happen soon. As soon as he opened his eyes once again, Youngjae got out of bed. He scanned the room, taking in all the memories he had made, before his eyes laid on the sleeping figure in the bed. He walked over to the male and planted soft kisses all over his face. He thanked him for being such a deep sleeper. His eyes landed on his lips and with enough courage, he placed his lips upon the other. A lone tear glistened momentarily under the moonlight as gravity forced it to fall from his eye to its eclipse; it's beauty lasting only for a split second. He reluctantly and unwillingly pulled away and headed for the door. He halted with his head bowed, before turning to catch one last glimpse of his lover in an attempt to etch his features into his brain, before whispering his final words; before one shot was released from the gun pointing towards his broken heart.

"...Goodbye, Jung Daehyun. Saranghae."
