SHINee 3rd Full Album The Misconceptions of You

So while all the Shawols are patiently (did I use the right word? Haha!) waiting for SHINee’s latest MV! I decided to download the full album so I could also have an experience of their latest amazing job.

As per usual, SHINee is never a disappointment…especially their Korean comeback. Admittedly, I love SHINee’s Korean songs than the Japanese ones. What’s the difference? I don’t even understand both languages. Well, maybe because I fell in love with them when they’re just doing Korean songs. It’s really inexplicable but all I can say is, this album is really refreshing. It’s been a while since the last time they did a Korean comeback so I really missed them (esp Onew oppa). :)

So here’s a very short and quick review of their tracks. But let me just say how I adore the album title: The Misconceptions of You — sounds very classy. Plus, that album cover — it’s very picturesque. One thing I love about these boys is whatever outfit, whatever hairstyle, or basically, just whatever concept that would be given to them — they could pull it off amazingly.

The songs, after listening to all nine tracks for a couple of times, I realize that I’d enjoy “acid electro funk”, as they called the genre for this album. But seriously, when I heard “Spoiler”, I thought it’s just very Sherlock-y but I was wrong. There’s something more to it as you keep on listening to it.

Dream Girl”, to be honest, I was hesitant to listen to its full version at first. I’d like to see the video as much as possible before listening to it but I realize — nah, it’s just the same anyway. And there, I fell in love. I feel more excited to see the MV now.

Then there’s “Hitchhiking“…now this is electro. It really suits their voices, esp Jonghyun. When I listen to it while closing my eyes, I can see different colors, like a kaleidoscope. That explains the entirety of their album concept.

The first time I heard “Punch Drunk Love”, I just uttered…”yeah, that feels good.” Haha! Okay, that doesn’t sound right. But seriously, it’s a feel-good song. It kinda brings me back to some old good times. Very retro.

Girls, girls, girls” — my favorite among all the tracks. It has a very playful feel. If I’d use colors for this one… I can sense yellow and orange. In short, this song is very sunshiny. Optimistic and cheerful. And can be…sweet too. Wanna be sweet? Haha!

Aside” is the song I’d love to listen in a boring afternoon. It can send me off to sleep while dreaming of my SHINee babies.

Beautiful” is really beautiful. Well aside from it was based from “Dazzling girl”, I love how them tempo is quite different from the Japanese version. Too bad, there’s no “ai, ai, ai”… Haha! Anyway, a very funky song.

Dynamite” is very dynamic. No pun intended. This song just shows off how their vocals become more powerful and versatile. This is really just another side of  SHINee,

And lastly, “Runaway” is another fun song to listen to. A very good track to end the album because it will make you listen to all the songs over and over again.

Alright, I said that this is going to be very short but I failed again. Sorry for being too wordy, yet I’m not sure if all of these make sense. Haha!

Therefore, we should all get this album because this is going to be a very awesome part of our SHINee album collections. It’s very colorful, refreshing, fun to listen to and most of all, FUNKY! Yes, I love that word now.

Let’s all patiently wait for Dream Girl full MV! ^_^

Punch Drunk Love is my favorite and that's not because it shares its name with one of my favorite movies. ;)
