Personality: HyeeJoo is a natural born performer and ambitious. She does not acknowledge her talents despite being able to use her talents on vocal range and mixing songs. Undeniably, her maternal element is very obvious as she cares about the people around her more than she does about her herself, due to her Down-Syndrome sister. Not to mention, the fact that she hates seeing people being mistreated. HyeJoo also has this passion for floriography, where she uses flowers to actually express her feelings towards others. Plus, she hardly ever laughs, in fact, she never laughs much after she was sent to the foster home with her younger sister. She has true passion for music as most of the jobs she does involves music. HyeJoo also enjoy being around books and her former ambition was to be a Pediatrician.

Kang SeMi, 47, stepmother who took away everything from her Dad and sent the sisters to a foster home.

 

Life growing up: Broken hearted after his wife's (HyeJoo's Mother) death, HyeJoo's Dad remarried with a widow; Kang SeMi. Initially, the Songs were new money due to her Dad's business, but everything was taken away from the sisters when her Dad died. It happened when they were on a family trip on Jejudo Island on their private yacht. HyeJoo wanted to pull a prank on her parents and she jumped from the yacht into the warm seawater. JiHee was surprised of her sudden action and started screaming and crying on the top of her lungs. HyeJoo pretended to drown and dived into the water for a few seconds. She actually wanted to tell her Dad that half a year worth of determination, she finally knew how to swim. When she reappeared, she saw the images of her family onboard. She did the same thing again when suddenly, she felt her right leg was stuck to a long seaweed. She tried to wriggle away but to no avail. She was really drowning! Then, her Dad jumped from the yacht to save her. He dived into the water and tried to pull her out. When she was freed, she pulled her Dad with her, but he was stuck too! She tried to help her Dad but she was too young to do anything. She emerged for some air and shouted for help. She tried again and again but failed each and every time. Then her Dad pulled her close to him and took her palm to him. He scribbled something to her palm and managed a smile. That was when she felt his grip loosening and no bubbles escaped her Dad's mouth. It was all her fault.

 

Everything seemed to be moving in a whirlwind as she lost her Mother at the age of 5, losing her Dad at the age of 12 and lost everything when her stepmother took everything away from she and her sister including their mansion and their Dad's legacy. Then, the sisters were sent to a foster home. Fortunately for them, her Mother's younger sister, Choi MinKi; an auntie she barely remember, took them into custody and single handedly raise them. Aunt MinKi was not born from the riches, like her Mother, but still she took responsibility on them as her elder sister's daughters. aunt MinKi supported HyeJoo and JiHee as much as possible. she even encouraged HyeJoo's passion for books, flowers and music. Mostly, her Auntie pushed her on her studies. She was really proud of her niece, scoring as a top student and receiving a scholarship to study abroad to become a Pediatrician. She wanted to become one so that she could help others who are fated just like her sister's illness.

 

But, finally, after finishing her first year of studies, she quit college and came back to Korea. It was too painful to be away from aunt MinKi and JiHee. Juggling life between care-taking her younger sister, DJ-ing and street singing, she realized how selfish she was wanting to fulfill her dreams and leave everything behind. One day, as she was on her way to the club where she works at, she sensed someone following her as the hairs on the back of her neck rose. Quickly, she took a different route and finally ended up in a big building and ran for the elevators. As the door closed, she saw the sight of the stalker who's been following her since a fortnight ago. As she sighed from relief, she stumbled out a floor and saw the sign 'JYPE'. Suddenly, a lady grabbed her hand and asked her to fill a spot for a sick applicant. Whatever was the meaning of it, she did not understand but she was shoved past a door and there she stood, awkwardly, in front of Park Jin Young, the man himself.

 

Life after trainee: She blew away the judges with her beatboxing talent which she continued with B.A.P's 'No Mercy' and mashed it up with Duffy's 'Mercy'. JYP immediately took her in but was surprised that she actually came unprepared. As she became a trainee, she easily befriended the girls with her easy-going   nature. During their training months, they were headed off to a team-building boot camp. But, unfortunately for her, they went to the beach. They stayed at a hostel and the male idols also came. They had a cooperation-match type and played tag team, supervised by crews from the agency. They were divided into 2 teams and HyeJoo was in a team with the sunbae from 2AM; JoKwon and JinWoon and sunbae from 2PM; Taecyeon, Nickkhun and JunHo while the other 5 are the girls including HyeJoo. As she went deeper towards the sea, HyeJoo suddenly slipped and she fell and memories of the past came flooding back. She regained conciousness and she noticed that she was already on her bunk bed. When she came out, few girls asked her how she was and what happened.

 

She just breezed through their questions and told them not to worry. She went out with a reason to get some fresh air, but the truth is, she slumped down near the campfire and sobbed. She missed everyone, especially her Dad. When she felt someone sat beside her, she quickly wiped her tears away. She looked up and saw JoKwon. He asked her how she was and she just nodded and plastered a smile, saying she was fine. As if JoKwon could see through her lie, he told her his life as a trainee. She was surprised that he was a trainee for almost 7 years and she respected him. And he told her what her Dad scribbled on her palm 6 years ago: When the going gets tough, the tough gets going. Instantly, she cried. JoKwon was fidgeting beside her and apologized numerous times. And he tried by praising her beatboxing and singing talent. Then, he impersonated her beatboxing and singing during the audition day. That was the famous Jo Kkap side of him and she looked up to see his funny facial expressions. She could not hold it any longer and laughed her heart out between her tears.

 

Never had she felt this much joy and she was surprised that she, Song HyeJoo, laughed to this sunbae of hers. That's when her heart skipped a beat. That weirdo imitating her gave her the joy, laughter and a brand new spirit she never had in 6 years. She , who was already involved while undergoing as a trainee, is going to give her all for her passion on music. Not to forget the fact that she was able to stay close to home to take care of her sister and aunt.

Interaction around each other: Most of the time that HyeJoo was able to spend with JoKwon was when they were scheduled to train on the same day. When she saw them practice, JoKwon would always work the hardest as the leader. She would secretly place flowers on his stuff and leave a note to give him her support. JoKwon would also support her most of the time with her vocals and teaching her stuff with the other 2AM members. Not to mention, who is JoKwon without the Kkap in him.

 

Meeting at the JYP: During the day of the audition, JoKwon and WooYoung came to the company for their solo album briefing. When JoKwon passed by the audition room, his eyes were caught by a girl who was shoved by the secretary into the audition room. He watched her silently from the back door and was dazzled by her beatboxing and singing talent. He decided he liked the girl already. Suddenly, JYP hyung made a joke and even JoKwon himself had to surpress a laughter as not to bother the ongoing audition. But the girl just smiled at the joke. All the more reason he likes her and from that moment onward, vowed to make the girl laugh when she's with him.

 

Member of 2AM / 2PM as younger / older sibling: Surely it's ChangMin (2AM) who shares the same passion as her about cooking. And also Nickkhun (2PM) as she was expanding her multi-lingual ability.

Style: 'Simple' is more to what HyeJoo prefers. She would choose baggy clothing, hoodies, sneakers and jeans. She is not really a big fan of clothing that would accentuate her figure due to her insecurity. But, being an idol, that attitude has to change and what she wears is not her choice to decide.
