Things Authors do that I Hate.

 

1. Beg for comments

You look so ugly when you cry. Please, just cut it out.

2. "NO SILENT READERS!"

You can't control me. Telling me to comment will not make me comment. I shall comment if I think you deserve it. Or I'll come back to comment if I have no time.

3. "Please refrain from reading without subscribing"

This is taken from the foreword of an actual story. I just need to take a step back and ask, "What in ery is this?" If you haven't noticed, I kind of hate writers who only write for attention. I get it if you want subscribers to guage how many people are reading but.... this girl doesn't. She wants the attention. And her story is stupid as all hell; I will never give it a chance. (Hell, I could blog for a while about how much I hate this and another but let's not.)

4. Threaten for comments

Because withholding updates definitely makes me want to spoil you. It's not leverage, it's stupid. And if you have to treaten for comments in the first place, chances are your story isn't even that popular and thus many people will not even see your threats.

I totally agree with #1! I mean if users don't want to comment, then let it be. There's also another thing I dislike about some authors. It's about how they beg for their story to be upvoted. Leave the decision to ourselves to judge whether your fic is good or not. >:(

I would totally understand #3 if it was the ending or something, but the freaking foreword/description???
Ugh.
I guess I used to be that kind of author, but now I realize readers or sometimes too busy to comment.
But you know who I want to punch? Readers who go "UPDATE NOW!"
