Is it really that weird?

Ok, so you guys know I couldn't live without my kpop (who can on this site anyway) and that it's my life, basically. So naturally, I love collecting albums and posters and what not.

I live about two hours from the closest kpop store (and only one I've seen before) so every few weeks I catch a train and use the money earned from work to buy myself some kpop/jpop/mando pop things.

I feel super awkward going into the store though, because people always stare at me as if I'm crazy.

If you guys didn't know (you probably don't) I am not asian. I don't have any relations to any asians, my aunty is chinese but not by blood and she lives in the US but that is it. I am a strange little white girl :3

Is it that odd for white people to love asian bands? Do asians find that odd? I've heard that super junior have more international fans that Korean ELF's, so why do people think I'm odd for buying kpop things (besides the fact I seem to be the only white person in the store whenever I'm there)?

I was looking through Big Bang albums last time I was there and one of the workers came up to me and said:

"Oh, you know Big Bang?" And I said

"Yeah, doesn't everyone?" (in a nice way) and he just stared at me blankly for a while before walking away. I bought an Mblaq tshirt and the guy just seemed to find me strange. Awkies :3

Anywho, do any of my little asian buddies on here think it's odd for white girls to like kpop? I know there isn't only one of me, there are thousands, but still.

I also wanted to say that  I hate when white people (like me lol) say that they like kpop and then only know Gangnam Style. They don't even know its by PSY. :(

Makes me sad, not their fault though. They are the ones the missing out I guess.

i agree with you about the PSY part... that's one of the negatives that Gangnam Style went so big, but i guess some ppl might actually go listen to other groups i guesss.
and no i don't ^^ i wnet just lst week (my first time) to a kpop store with my friend (she's Sri Lankan) and there was a young white girl in there asking to get a kpop group's ring ^^ but maybe because ti's Australia here? do lots of asians live where you do? if so then that's probably why, but nah... maybe just because you stand out, not htat they think it's a weird thing. ^^ just don't take it to heart, when you love kpop, best to love it shamelessly right/ ^^ FIGHTING :D :)

Personally i don't find it odd. It's actually awesome :D But i'm pretty sure they give you weird looks cause, well, asians stick together. Yeah ELF's have more international fans but that's cause koreans don't like their music :S (not saying all or hate either just rather not listen to it) I'm part viet and after listening to viet music ahaha...i wouldn't like it either ^^" but yeah my point is asians stick with asians :L +some rarities

I don't think it's odd..Well, in the beginning it was weird to find out non-asians like asian things but now I'm use to it C=
and I'm not surprised people always give you odd looks in stores, most of those people don't know K-Pop because they're most likely older and/or wouldn't think it's a huge deal. Most likely they have no idea how big K-pop is nowadays on how much people are interested in Korea because of it. Ugh, I wish I knew more people like you~ There are barely any around where I live that like asian things T.T
Also, I completely agree with you. I hate how people are now interested in k-pop because of Gangnam Style...I honestly hated that song when it first came out..Who knew it'd get so freaking popular _-_...but yeah, everywhere I go people are blasting Gangnam Style,it's being played on tv and on the radio, and most people claim to like K-Pop just because of that one song when they don't even know who it's by most of the time...It's not like Gangnam Style or Psy is the only K-pop song/artist out there people -_-+
