Is it really that weird?
Ok, so you guys know I couldn't live without my kpop (who can on this site anyway) and that it's my life, basically. So naturally, I love collecting albums and posters and what not.
I live about two hours from the closest kpop store (and only one I've seen before) so every few weeks I catch a train and use the money earned from work to buy myself some kpop/jpop/mando pop things.
I feel super awkward going into the store though, because people always stare at me as if I'm crazy.
If you guys didn't know (you probably don't) I am not asian. I don't have any relations to any asians, my aunty is chinese but not by blood and she lives in the US but that is it. I am a strange little white girl :3
Is it that odd for white people to love asian bands? Do asians find that odd? I've heard that super junior have more international fans that Korean ELF's, so why do people think I'm odd for buying kpop things (besides the fact I seem to be the only white person in the store whenever I'm there)?
I was looking through Big Bang albums last time I was there and one of the workers came up to me and said:
"Oh, you know Big Bang?" And I said
"Yeah, doesn't everyone?" (in a nice way) and he just stared at me blankly for a while before walking away. I bought an Mblaq tshirt and the guy just seemed to find me strange. Awkies :3
Anywho, do any of my little asian buddies on here think it's odd for white girls to like kpop? I know there isn't only one of me, there are thousands, but still.
I also wanted to say that I hate when white people (like me lol) say that they like kpop and then only know Gangnam Style. They don't even know its by PSY. :(
Makes me sad, not their fault though. They are the ones the missing out I guess.
