Well Janice here it is

Your birthday drabble as promised.

Warning: the delusion level on this is moderate so yeah (I'm going to do this for all my drabbles). But enjoy this story with you and Sungjong ^_^

I’ve been waiting

Sungjong stood at the back of the church. With closed eyes and an open heart he stood taking in the stillness. Today was a day where he was going to make a decision about his life. At the age of twenty eight he was plotting his path with care. The others had decided what careers they wanted, some changing from music. Another was preparing for the opening of a dance school while his business partner was preparing for his wedding.

He checked the time on his phone. It wouldn’t be long before he knew her answer. She referred to a junior of his by nearly five years or less. They’d met a few years ago when he’d gone back home to Kwangju for a visit. She vaguely knew who he was but she had spent time volunteering at his church and working with the school kids. She didn’t know what she wanted to do with her life but had always found herself drawn to Korea.

He admired her tenacity, her drive and the way she went ballistic every now and then. She was a fire ball without a pail of water. He’d kept in touch with her when he went back to Seoul and always made sure that he mentioned her in prayer. He didn’t know why but with her it always felt right. They were friends but still, it didn’t seem enough.

Time was ticking, in a few minutes she would have to come. The opening chorus of ‘Aing’ by Orange Caramel played meaning someone was calling him. He picked up, not expecting to hear Hoya’s voice. “Sungjong, how are things?”

“Yeah fine she isn’t here yet.” He didn’t intend to sound impatient. “What about you hyung; how are the wedding plans going?”

“Getting there,” he chuckled. “I’m busy with my rap for Woohyun’s song so a lot of the planning has gone to her. She seems to be doing alright but I think she may be stressed.” Sungjong nodded. The door suddenly creaked open behind him. “I have to go hyung. She’s here.”

“Good luck.”

“Thank you, I’ll see you at the wedding.” Sungjong hung up and prepared himself. The bouquet of flowers laid flat on the pew chair. He hoped she didn’t mind roses, or tulips.

“Janice,” he waved to her with his back turned so she wouldn’t see the bouquet. She blinked, a little dumbfounded. Usually he referred to her by her Korean given name.

“Oppa, what are you doing here?”

“I came to see you for a bit before you had to work.” She nodded putting her bag down on a pew. “Well you’ll have to be quick I’m afraid. I’m helping with the holiday program today and the kids will be back from lunch in ten.”

“That’s enough time.” Before he got too embarrassed he held out the flowers, “here.” She came up to him, surprise in her face as she accepted them with both hands. “Oppa today isn’t my birthday. It isn’t valentine’s day either.”

“I know… But I have something I need to say.” He cleared his throat. “I know that in some ways we’re different however.” She waited patiently. “But that doesn’t matter; not to me at least.”

Janice actually agreed with him. “It never really bothered me. I’m just glad I have such a great friend like you.”

“Friends well about that…” Sungjong started to feel the sweat on his hands so he rubbed them on his jeans. “I think it’s time we progress to the next stage.” Now was the time. “Janice… Will you go out with me?”

He didn’t know what her expression was; he’d closed his eyes in fear. Fear of rejection. After a minute he opened them. Janice seemed overwhelmed by his confession; her eyes sparkled with un-shed tears. Only she knew how she was feeling.

“Janice,” he asked.

“Yes,” she made into a smile. “I will go out with you.”

“Oh thank you,” he came over to her engulfing her in a hug. His tall frame almost covering her.
“I’ve been waiting for you to ask me,” she whispered, burying her face in his shirt.

“And I’ve been waiting to do this.” He stepped back to take her chin in his hands, bending down with his eyes closing. She found herself doing the same, both of their hearts pounding.
