✈ what makes you different

personality » Dmitri Ilya Chernikova-Schmitt is what most people would call a loner. He's hates interacting with many people at once and attention is deffinitely not something he seeks often. He's the artistic type mostly interested in music so you would always find him with headphones on or writting songs and song lyrics on any paper he could get his hands on. His guitars are worth more than his life to him. He has an extreme passion for music that most people don't understand that includes his adoptive parents. His parents don't understand him and are always trying to get him to do something "worthwhile" or "usefull" rather than spending his days with his guitars.

Dima is not a simple person. He's full of secrets and memories that he would rather not relive. His past is what made him who he is now. The loneliness and despair of his years as an orphan created his lonely and cold personality. He can't run away from the memories and is always struggling to forget them. His past makes him reluctant to trust others which was quickly shown when the Schmitts adopted him. He didn't talk to anyone for a whole year before they finally coaxed him into speaking and it still took him several years to trust them fully.

Dmitri is sensitive to betrayal and is easily hurt when people disappear from his life which is the reason why he is cold to everyone and does not make friends easily. He fears the loss of important people in his life and does not accept others easily nor shows affection to many except his younger sister and his cat. During his life he has only dated one girl and the relationship only helped to contribute to his mistrust of people in general.

While living in the states he has made a few friends but never gets attached. His friends know a fun side of him because he's not just a lost or hurt soul. In the big scheme of life he wants to have fun and be able to trust and belong. He just finds the concept of completely trusting a person impossible but is willing to try after getting to know people well.

in a nutshell » He's the dark angel always reserved and cold but his angelic appearance tends to draw people to him instead of repell them which is the opposite of what he wants. He's full of secrets and fears of his past. He resents his past and his present isn't much better just full of money and critics who label him as a spoiled rich brat. He wants to find his purpose but seems lost and the only thing that calms him is composing music. Music is what makes his life bearable.

fears & phobias » Dogs- when he lived in Russia he ran away from his foster home and slept on the streets for a while. One night he was walking around looking for food when he saw some dogs fighting . He got scared and turned to run away without noticing that one of the dogs was after him it threw him down and bit his leg. He was only four so he couldn't fight of the large dog and lay there screaming till a man came and kicked the dog. The man picked him up and took him to a cathedral where the nuns took care of him and kept him till he turned six and was adopted. Since that day he fears any type of dog even small dogs and puppies.

He began smoking at 16 and has tried to quit but it never works out.
He's still a and is quite detached from anything ual because of his short up bringing in church and his dislike of ty girls
Hates being forced to play violin. Classical music = bleh -.-

life story » Dmitri was born in Novosibirsk, Russia to very poor parents. When he was just and infant his parents both died in an accident or so they told him later in life but he knew the truth. He spent the first 6 years of his life as an orphan, 4 of those years were spent in foster homes which he always managed to escape from then he was taken in to a cathedral by some nuns in Moscow, Russia where he spent 2 years before finally being adopted by an American couple.

The Schmitts adopted him because they weren't able to have their own kids and so they took him home to Dallas, Texas. Dmitri didn't talk to anyone for a whole year and it had worried his parents so much but there was nothing they could do. After his year of silence he began to say a few words here and there which gave them a bit of encouragement. He slowly settled down and learned English quite quickly. Everything seemed fine but they had no idea.

When he was eight they bought him his first guitar and he loved it from the moment he strummed the first note. Elementary school was fine but then came his junior hig years which he spent being made fun of because of the way he dressed and dyed his hair which compared to the problems he'd had when he was an orphan seemed like nothing so he took little notice of the taunts.

High school got a bit better and the girls seemed to be more attracted to him now that he had suddenly turned into an angel.His parents also went and adopted a korean baby girl which he ignored at first but evntually had to ackowledge her as a sister but never really got close to her till much later.

It was in high school that he met a beautiful Japanese/American girl named Annette Skye. He dated her for 3 years and his happiest moments were during those three years but then came his mistrust of people and Annette just made it worse by cheating on him. He spent his last year of high school dreading everything, seeing her with someone else, other girls asking him out, and the incesant questions from his parents about what was wrong.

After that all he had to keep leaning on was his music, his new pet kitty Siniy, and his new attachment to his sister Alice. His parents weren't much help with all their questions and nagging about the future.

kpop » He has heard of Gangnam Style and thought it sounded alright until everyone started listening to it nonstop then it just became annoying and he hadn't attempted to listen to anymore until he accidentally clicked on the wrong youtube video and watched SISTAR Loving U and thought it was cute.

the sweet life » He found himself actually enjoying the freedom of a whole week of freedom away from prying eyes and the millions of questions and high expectations from his parents.

downfall of us » He didn't freak out like his parents expected him to but he did wonder how they expected him to live in a completely different country.

why oh why? » To his parents Dmitri always seemed lost and unconcerned about his future so this wasn't much of a punishment rather than to learn the lesson of actually caring about his future and how he would make a living but of course they didn't count on him enjoying it.

part-time job(s) » Dmitri never really liked using a lot f his parents money and had a part-time job at a restaurant when he lived in Texas and in New York so it wasn't hard for him to find a job even with his little knoweldge of the language. He found a job in a store that sold musical instruments and gave lessons. He gave guitar and bass lessons and got paid pretty good because of his skills in playing and teaching.

» personality | He is the adorable maknae of Shinee. He is quite shy and innocent when he meets a new person. He’s playful and cute but can be y and manly when he dances. He is an amazing dancer and is quite fluent in Japanese.
» meeting | Dima dreaded going to the dance club but he had signed up already and he completely believed in commitements and so he didn't want to quit before even beginning so he went to the first practice. He went and wasn't expecting much except probably embarrassment. He got there and compltetely spaced out while the club president talked and then just happened to listen in when she said someone was going to give a demo of what they might get to learn. Taemin happened to be there eventhough Dima didn't know who he was he was extremely impressed. They all clapped and he found himself wondering who the talented guy was. Just as he wondered the guy walked towards him and smiled and suddenly Dima had a strange feeling that he'd had when he first met Anette but now it was happening again but it was a guy. It completely surprised him and he felt a bit uncomfortable. Taemin had no idea what the tall foreign boy was thinking but he was impressed by the boy's looks and smiled at him while he introduced himself.
» love story | Dmitri is confused as to what he should really be feeling towards Taemin. For one thing Taemin is a guy and Dmitri has never felt like that towards a guy. Taemin has no proble admitting that he finds Dmitri attractive but he doesn't know how Dima will take that so he treats him as just a friend.

» personality| Key is known as the diva or umma of SHINee. He is extremely talented at rapping and dancing. He loves dancing girl group dances and is very into fashion. He speaks and understands English very well.

» meeting| Dmitri decided to cut classes one day and just went out to play his guitar at the park. He found a quiet place with some benches and he sat down and began to play a song. He was so in the zone that he didnt notice someone approaching. When he finished the song someone said "Wow you're really good!" He opened his eyes and saw a guy stading there. He blinked and had a strange feeling when the guy suddenly sat next to him and introduced himself. He held out his had to shake and then Dmitri sat there silently as Key chattered about random stuff before playing another song. Fo some reason he felt comfortable with Key next to him while he played.
» love story | Dmitri never thought he'd fall for a guy especially not a guy like Key. Key was loud, talkitive, and way too friendly. He actually found those qualities attractive. They say opposites attract. :P

» meeting| Dmitri like always didn't want to attend his statistics class so he decided to skip in one of the music rooms just practicing a few songs when suddenly a tiny girl carrying a guitar walked in. She stopped as she realized that there was someone already in the room. She bowed and apologized shyly. He told her she could stay if she wanted to and she gave him a nervous look. He smiled at her and she relaxed and sat down in a seat close to him. She played a song and he listened intently. He fell for her then.
» love story | Dmitri truly believes that he's found the girl for him but she's not exactly responsive in any way. He finds her indifference towards him hurtfull and doesn't want to risk telling her his feelings.

» personality| He loves skinship and is very sweet. He’s adorable and has the cutest smile. He’s also the most muscular in SHINee (loves to show off his abs). Has an amazing vocal range and is extremely talented.
» meeting| Dmitri went to an anime store just looking around not really wanting to buy anything until he saw a Gundam poster that looked pretty awesome. Just as he reached for it another hand reached it. It happened to be Jonghyun and he wasn't about to give it up to some tall foreigner. They glared at each other but eventually Dmitri realized that he was being a kid fighting over a poster. Jjong happily took the poster and bought it shortly after he came back and Dmitri was still looking at other stuff. He asked Dmitri if he really wanted the poster and Dmitri said it didn't matter. Jonghyun told him he could have it but he'd have t pay him back. Dmitri looked at him suspiciously and Jonghyun leaned closer to him making him suddenly nervous. Jjong leaned in even more and whispered "your number" and gave him a cocky smile. Dmitri had no idea what he was doing but suddenly he had the poster and was typing his number into Jjong's phone. Jjong smiled and waved at him goodbye.
» love story | Dmitri has never felt this way towards any guy and he's completely baffled by his feelings but he can't deny them. There's just that small problem where Jonghyun is a famous kpop star with many fangirls who would murder Dmitri if they ever found out about their relationship.

» love story | Dmitri was fond of Juniel the moment he saw her and she seemed to like him back but he's not so sure if he's completely ready to date again after being played by Annette. Plus Junie as he calls her, seems innocent and would probably never accept his past or so he thinks.

rival » Jung Yonghwa | CN Blue | 23 | he seems timid but is actually pretty funny and lively. He's extremely talented at playing guitar. | Dmitri doesn't really seem to care about others but there's just something that makes him a bit more competitive at times and Yonghwa definitely stirs up his competitiveness. He finds Yonghwa a rival in musical composition as well as playing the guitar.

Scene 1: Dmitri is learning how to dance and decides to stay late in the dance studio that the club uses. He feels confused as to how he feels about Taemin and then is startled when Taemin suddenly walks in. Taemin just smiles at him and asks if he wants help with some of the dance moves. Dmitri says sure and they begin to dance together. Taemin stops him and says that he did one part wrong so he starts teaching him step by step but Dimitri can't get a certain move so Taemin grabs his arms to help him. Dmitri begins to blush at Taemin's touch which completely catches him off guard and he tries to hide it but Taemin automatically sees the change of color on Dmitri's pale face. Taemin stops what he was helping him with and boldly asks Dmitri if he has feelings for him. Dmitri is completely at a loss for words and he simply frowns, grabs his stuff and leaves quickly. He gets outside nad realizes that he just made a huge mistake but he keeps on trying to fight the urge to go back and tell him exactly how he feels. After a few agonizing minutes he walks back inside only to find Taemin standing exactly where he had left him. Dmitri doesn't waste time with simple words like "I like you" he walks right to him and hugs him tightly.
Scene 2: He reveals his past to Taemin.
