style : Elegance, poise, and class -- three terms that are predominantly associated with Haneul's wardrobe. Her fashion sense if neither immaculate, nor does it consist of the latest trends; fads aren't really Haneul's thing. She keeps her style simple; the only thing that truly stands out in Haneul's dress it the favorite red lipstick she never forgets to apply. Aside from that feat however, little black dresses, floral prints, and mini pencil skirts are the farthest Haneul's fashion sense limits to

I AM WHO I AM

personality :
» Blessed with her mother's beauty, Haneul would look like she'd know the potential she's got going for true appeal; however in truth, Haneul can be as y as a hermit crab. Most that aim to be Haneul's friend often have trouble, especially if they dislike working to break her massive barrier. She's not a socially awkward character, but rather one that chooses to be solitary than social. She's very reserved, a feat that has been brutally perfected by her father. Haneul finds no enjoyment in explaining things or in being talkative, but has discovered that the most fun is found in listening and observing. She's very observant and is the type to come off as either anti-social or mysterious (depends).

Though despite her brooding demeanor, Haneul is actually very friendly; she just isn't open about it. Her parents have always lectured her about the disadvantages in being too friendly or too lenient, and as a result, Haneul has brought up that defensive barrier for herself to avoid being manipulated into the hands of others. Her generous actions are very miniscule and fairly subtle; whether its spreading a second blanket over a sleeping companion or cleaning up the mess of others, Haneul's kindness if often overlooked. No matter who she's talking to, for that matter, Haneul remains soft-spoken, calm, and sometimes even suave. She's mature for her age and is wise; often, people mistake her for an age older than what she really is. She's patient, and rarely gets mad; but that's only because she usually is diffident and only has an opinion towards her own interests.

But she's bland. And nobody likes bland. Her interests are common and mediocre; her voice is monotonous and near-inaudible; and she rarely socializes. Haneul is often the victim of gossip, since she's the easiest to pick on. She can go from being the girl that observes from the back to being the girl that thinks she's too good for everybody else (hence her nickname Gong-ju). Haneul's conservative personality prompts others to deem her boring and average, someone not fit enough to entertain. Her integrity, work ethic, hidden amiability, and generosity become overlooked because of the negative connotations of her behaviour that brand her as boring, bland, monotonous, arrogant, and anti-social.

On another note, she's also very serious. Haneul is challenged by jokes and she doesn't have the light-heartedness to play along. She disregards it and brushes it off her shoulders to pay attention to something more suiting to her, like working. The type of fun Haneul enjoys is found in her interests, and pranks are not on that list. Haneul grows very intense when she's working; she tries hard; and beneath the layers of quietness and mystery, she's one of those that don't give up.

background :
» May 22nd, 1989. Choi Haneul was born this day to a three-member household family, wrapped in a pink blanket with awaiting balloons soaring across the hospital room. Her parents treated her just like how a princess would've been treated: buying her gifts, feeding her only her favorite foods, spending quality time with her. Haneul grew up to be an average girl with average dreams; her brother was typically her bully, her mother the peace-maker, and her father the king of the house. Average family is average.

Music, however, was never a main benefactor within the Choi household. Both offsprings of the parents were trained to appreciate the conservative beliefs, to embrace maths and sciences rather than the liberal arts. Haneul was perfected into a math whiz and became an oustanding student. However, near her epoch of puberty, boys, and middle school, Haneul met Seo Boram, the optimistic social-butterfly of the 7th grade class. As opposites attract, Boram easily lured Haneul around her finger and happily introduced the art of ballet and classical music and arts to the obliging Haneul. Piqued with unknown interest, Haneul picked it up, and never set it back down.

As the years past, Haneul became more and more passionate about the arts, much to her reserved parents' dismay. Her oustanding academic marks began to decline rather into something only great than outstanding; and her electives' grades skyrocketed. She practiced on her own time, becoming the best of friends with Seo Boram, thus resulting in their quality time being spent at the dance studio owned by Boram's aunt. As they reached near the end of high school, Boram instantly encouraged Haneul to join her in auditioning for the big three companies: YG, SM, and JYP. Haneul had to audition a total of three times before making it into SM, with having auditioned for several other companies in the process of polishing her abilities. Boram, heavy affected by her 2PM phase decided to audition for JYP instead, where in contrast to the four times she auditioned for SM and failed, got accepted on her second attempt.

That was the beginning of Haneul's musical career.

family members :
» father || Choi Taesung || 48 years || financial consultant || alive || 7
» mother || Choi Hana || 45 years || bank clerk || alive || 8
» brother || Choi Tae-kook || 27 years || father's assistant, business intern || alive || 8

family background :
» The family lives in a quaint, two-story home just down-town of Seoul. Both parents work full-time within the department of finance, and as expected, their eldest son followed right in their footsteps. Though family dinners and gatherings aren't exactly common in the Choi household, they still remain closely knitted together. They are typically like any other Korean family down the block.

However, after a few heated debates between Mr. Choi and Haneul in regards to her aspirations, the family slowly drifted apart for a period of time. The close bonds the parents had with their children slowly disintegrated into awkwardness and secrets started being kept from one another. Though they remain ordinary and moderate on the outside, within the confines of their home, there is a lot of tension. Mr. Choi still broods against Haneul's refusal to take up finance, their mother is stuck in between, and the son is adamant in defending his beloved baby sister.

Tae-kook and Hana became the only supporters for Haneul, and even though she would wish her father would recognize her talents, she was able to manage with just her mother and brother's encouragements alone. They send her gift packages and care baskets to ensure her health and whatnot every now and then, and occassionally, she'd see her father's messy scrawl of a signature at the bottom of the support cards her mother sends. Tension still lingers, but a majority of it could be considered to be "put away".

The income is substantially sufficient, the home is humble, and the family members aren't perfect (as expected). Haneul is doing great with her aspirations, her father is making money, her mother is healthy, and her brother is going to grow up to prosper. Things were balanced, and the Choi family liked it that way. They weren't perfect; they didn't need to be -- they just needed to be evened out because perfect, cliched families are so ten seasons ago.

READY?

trainee days :
» Haneul had always loved dance, so she wasn't affected by the amount of effort and hours it took to master her dancing abilities. The only difficult part was the variation of dances she had to learned -- they ranged from contemporary, hip-hop, jazz, all the way down to the waltz and salsa; to ballerina Haneul, the variations of genres were the hardest to adjust to,

And the one thing worse than the sufferings she had to endure learning entirely new styles of dance were the vocal instructions. She hadn't always been the strongest singer, for she didn't have a vary wide voice range (or even a decent singing voice for that matter). Thoughtful enough to remember how lucky she was to get in solely for her dancing, however, Haneul endured the intolerable nights of attaining sore throats and a hoarse voice.

It was emotionally, mentally, and physically unbearable; Haneul had never known she could sweat so much or dance for such a prolonged amount of time. There were instances where she had collapsed from over-exhaustion, moments were she longed to return to her father's arms, events where she was picked on for not having the best voice. But she had already made it, and it would've been a waste. Like the big girl she was, she made the most of her trainee days by making friends, improving her attitude, etc; and she persevered through the insufferable practice hours, sleep deprivation, yearning for family, and through the onslaught of pain, soreness, and sweat.

I LOVE YOU

love interest : Xi Luhan
his personality :
» Luhan is the affable type of guy. Despite his naivete and gentle-heartedness, Luhan can be quite childish and playful. He's the budding soul mate for Haneul. Luhan often talks to her; he knows she doesn't talk much, and Luhan's the type of guy to like doing the majority of the talking. He's very kind towards her, just as he is to everyone else; most wouldn't be bored around Luhan, and this only motivates the young man to get a laugh out of Haneul. Haneul is one of the only others aside from Kris and Sehun to tone down his hyper-active personality, and Luhan is one of the only others aside from Hyoyeon to be able to make Haneul laugh until she can't breathe.

back up love interst : Zhang Yixing (Lay)
his personality :
» Interesting; that is the first impression Haneul has of Lay. He has the reserved component Haneul possesses, yet he wields the ability to entertain an audience like Luhan and Chanyeol. He's the type to be mysteriously quiet, but when he opens up, whatever he says becomes the joke of the year. Lay is very kind-hearted and very polite around Haneul, respecting her choice to be quite the solitary type. He eventually tries to take it up a notch to try to get her to laugh, but it rarely works. They're very much a like in some ways, and share even a few common interests, so that's what allows Lay to be able to grow so fond of Haneul, but their differences regarding level of maturity and mental age are what distinguish who would be protective of the other.
