Day 1: Peasantry

Peasantry

Just a peasant, searching for food
A little something to carry on
Ran into you who provided me the sweetest fruit I'd ever known

What possessed you share with this peasant?

Graciously you offered the fruit again
Reluctantly I accepted it from your hand
Afraid it would disappear as quickly as it had come

Why continued you share with this peasant?
Regularly I began to come
Not fearing you as I had before
Yet everyday to you I came
You offered me more
I returned the same

Why share this life of yours with the peasant?

Upon seeing your face a fire burns within me
An undying flame, that of my soul
Again with me, a peasant, you share
Filling my empty life, I'm becoming whole

Why chose you to love this peasant?

Today the rain pours down heavy
No fruit was offered to me neither now nor many days after that
I wondered what I did that would make you take it all back

Why taketh you fruit from this peasant?

Finding sorrow in actions that ring true
You've stopped feeding me
I get no more fruit

What possessed you leave this peasant?

The grass dies and the forest echoes my cries
Skin clinging desperately to my bones
In need of your fruit
None could be found while I was alone

Why continued you ignore this peasant?

Too late, you drop the fruit at my feet and walk away
All good things must come to an end
I'll never worry about that disappointment again
I'm already gone, never to see another day

Why chose you to love this peasant?

wooaahhh this is niiiiice! not to be a creeper or anything, but i was browsin through blogs and saw your blog about a poem a day and thought, how cool! so i friended you because you seem like a good writer and i wanted to see more great work from you and now here we are c:

i like this poem because it tells a story in a short number of words- its a somewhat cliche subject (and when i say cliche i don't mean /bad/, just used often) of falling in love and then one of the lovers becoming distant, but the way you present it as a peasant and the gracious person who gives fruit to him/her is wonderful! i love it. i hope you don't mind my opinion o.o

anyways yeah i think i still came off as a sort of creeper but i hope i seem like a friendly one! >.<
