Personality: 

Julian is shy, quiet and tends to wander off to be alone. It isn't to say he's not friendly but he's more of a listener than a talker. He can sometimes zone out (hence the nickname Jupiter) with his daydreaming; but when it comes down to it, he gives 150% effort in training or practices due to his need to have everything be as perfect as possible. He is respectful and will rarely speak banmal to people, even those his age or younger.

When he is with s, unless there's a need to express or contradict an opinion he'll keep to himself. Since he's so quiet, he's never built that many friendships of the trainees (none that he would claim as best friend status,) but he is loyal to all the SM labelmates and is always willing to drop whatever he is doing to help someone. He is very protective of s -especially the girls which rolls over to all the girls at SM. He is the same way with his family except he is exceptionally close to his noona and is a lot more unguarded when around her.

Though he seems to be a shy wallflower, on stage he shows off his professional side (and y, charasmatic side.) When he is on stage (or during practices) the awkward, reserved boy disappears and a whole different side appears. During interviews he speaks when spoken to, and answers questions geared at him. But he is definitely no camera-hog and will allow others who want to, take over. Even with all this, he is confident in his skills and doesn't worry about much else but enjoying himself and working hard to keep reaching for his dream. 

Likes: 

• Sleep (the better to recharge to work harder and the better to dream)
• Sports (he works out because he knows he has to to succeed in the business, but he would rather be playing a sport if he's going to be active)
• Babies/kids (he always wanted to be a younger father and will always stop to make silly faces at babies)

Family background:

Julian's parents met in New York City at a church gathering. As the son of one of the church boardmembers, Jae-wook had been playing the piano for the choir when he first saw Lee Ye-jin; she had attended with other international students. He was five years older but both refused to let age make a difference; two years after meeting they flew to Seoul to have their wedding. They returned to the United States and a year later, moved to Connecticut so their baby and future children would have fresh air and room to play. Five years later they had Julian and life was content. Julian was seven when his appa was hit by a drunk driver while he had been out walking the dog around the block.

Ye-jin mourned for a year and then with encouragement from her family, moved her two children to Seoul. They moved in with her mother (since her father had passed years earlier) and attempted to start over. During this time, Julian's noona took over majority of watching over him since both omma and halmoni worked and became involved in church, etc. Julian was sixteen when Ye-jin remarried Park Jisoo- a nice, soft-spoken man she met from church.

Best friend:

They became better friends when EXO debuted and that's because Suho and Sehun share a room. Since Julian would visit whenever EXO was in town and spent time with them just goofing around.
• Do Kyung Soo (D.O.) | 20 | EXO-K | Though Julian is a sunbae (training wise,) D.O. had been a singer for longer so is the sunbae in that sense. They both lean on one another and encourage one another-especially during vocal lessons. | Met at vocal lesson classes at SM.

How did you get into SM Ent: 

Julian was casted through street casting in 2006 and joined the company in early 2007. His height and looks had been what attracted the scout initially, but once they learned of his music skills immediately put him in vocal lessons. However, since Julian was very shy and reserved, he was often looked over. He had originally been considered to debut as part of EXO-K, but they ultimately decided to hold off and work on him with his shyness/semi-stage fright.
