Patient History:

Background: Sandeul comes from a wealthy family and is the youngest of three children. He was pinned as a musical prodigy from the age of six and was given lots of specialized schooling and training in piano, acoustic guitar, and samisen. He seemed well on his way to beginning a highly successful life as a concert musician until he reached puberty, when his mentality crashed and his family, fearing the effect their son would have on the reputation of their good name, had him institutionalized.

Personality:  Sandeul is calm and calculating and will only speak when he sees good reason to, even if addressed directly. He comes off as cold and short-tempered but changes completely when music is playing-- he becomes gentle, warm, and friendly. He can even be sweet at times, when the mood strikes him. He will often hum to himself if left alone.

Likes:  Classical music or any kind of music hybrid involving concert music (Apocalyptica? Yes), the scent of chamomile, playing music, rainy days, the color white, braiding long hair (he used to help his oldest sister braid her hair before school every day. Reminds him of home.)

Dislikes: The smell of cigarette smoke, hot weather, complete silence, pointless conversation, the sound of screams.

Habits: When concentrating, he bits his lip or his thumb nails. He's always kept his thumb nails long to use them as guitar picks. He keeps a journal, but instead of writing about each day with words he composes music to describe events. The short songs and snippets can get quite complicated. And if he is sitting near someone with long hair, especially if it has waves or curls in it, he will start to idly braid their hair. Doesn't mean anything by it, really, it's just an automatic response.

Hobbies: Composing, sitting in crowded rooms and listening to rhythms and voices and whatnot, watching tv/movies with the sound muted and separate music playing.

Mother:  Choi Sansook, 42, a stern but caring woman who teaches musical composition classes at a prestigious university. Alive.

Father: Choi Jihyun, 57, a strict but fair man who spends more time caring for his publishing company than for his family. His children never call him father; they call him “sir.” Alive, but aging quickly due to a stress-related heart condition.

Siblings:  Choi Hyunseo, male, 20. Vice president of Jihyun's company, will inherit it when Jihyun chooses to step down. He's friendly and commited, but calm and calculated like Sandeul. Alive.

Choi Minseo, female, 20. Hyunseo's twin sister, currently attending university with a major in art and minors in psychology and art history. She's very sweet and very sensible, and often sends Sandeul letters and pages from her sketchbooks.

Schizophrenia, Primary Insomnia, Asperger Syndrome, Bipolar Disorder (his manic episodes have gotten worse as he gets older,) Oneirophrenia (related to his insomnia.)
