AFF Etiquette by Annie and Kamisama
I feel like there are some things on AFF that should be common sense, but do not seem to be. Or rather, I was raging today to kamisama and we ended up with a list.
1. Don't spam comments on someone's story just to gain karma.
2. Don't unsubscribe to a story once it has been completed, especially if you read all of the chapters and enjoyed it. I mean, knowing that people are going to unsub as soon as I finish a story does not motivate me to write anything. I don't see what the problem is with being subbed to completed stories. It's rather rude to read it all and unsub after all the hard work the author has put in. If the story really , then you would have unsubbed a long time ago, not after the last chapter. I feel like unsubbing after a completion is like the ultimate " you" to the author.
3. Don't spam other people's walls with your story link. No matter how nice you are about it, everyone still hates it.
4. Don't write chapters that are like 2 paragraphs long and then apologize for them. If you know it's too short, then just wait until you have actual content instead of posting and saying sorry.
5. Don't say things like "I won't update till I get __ subbers" or "I won't update until I get __ upvotes." I mean....just don't.
6. If you're blogging, then post it as a blog. I don't get why there are stories that are actually blogs.
7. Don't use Comic Sans. Well I guess this is just my personal pet peeve. Anything other than Georgia and Times New Roman hurts my eyes. Oh, and there is no need to make your text 20 different colors. Black is just fine. Or to use size 20 font. 12 is just dandy. 14 sometimes.
8. Don't ask strangers for Karma. I get asking your friends (aka people who you chat with a lot, not just those on your friends list), especially if they are not using it. But like...if I've never talked to you before, you don't read my stories, and I don't read yours...I'm not giving you my karma. Maybe you should COMMENT on other peoples' stories and earn karma. Just a thought. It might only take you 5 seconds to post an encouraging comment but it means a lot to the writer. Plus, you get karma points. Win-win.
Going to go now before I hurt some people. I love Kamisama for listening to me rant and blow off steam.
