"You" Stories

I will never see the appeal of "you" fanfics on here. It's not really you, it's a fictional character who you pretend to be. A real "you" fic would be where you actually get to choose what the character does, how the character acts.

For example, in fics where the fictional character who is "you" is innocent, shy, and totally quiet. What if you're not anything like that? What if you're loud, obnoxious, and out-spoken? Are you still going to condone for the actions "you" do in the story? Or vice versa for a character that is loud and noisy when you're quiet and reserved? Are you going to be okay when "you" yell at someone in the fic?

But really, what makes readers want to pretend to be the girl? You can pretend to be the main character without the story even having to be a "you" fic! Isn't that the appeal of Twilight?

This is a very short, somewhat useless blog post, but I felt it necessary. I really do not like "you" fics. They make it seem as if the reader does not have a big enough imagination to come up with their own fictional situations, or to even place themselves in a fic without being told to.

Really! What is the appeal? Because honestly, all I see is "you" fics on here!

I think there are actually second-person fics written as postmodern lit... people tend not to write it because it ends up sounding commanding. I don't know. It's a tough narrative voice. I think the concept isn't about getting the reader to be involved in the story. Sometimes it's simply not directed at the reader. I don't know. LOL. In fanfics you fics are usually apply fics; this is the most frequent form of fantasy-fulfillment because, well, reading about "I" = another girl with your idol, or "she" = another girl with your idol, sometimes stir up a bit of jealousy in the readers, so they perfer "you" fics instead, where they themselves are the love interests. It generally doesn't matter if the personality matches or not, because we read it more for what the idol does and don't give two s about what the OC does. LOL.

LOL. And now you have to review sevvy's you fic because of this blog. LOLOL

B-but I write you fics! OwO /kills self

Well, I have encountered 'You' fics in the market. Like published works. To be honest, I guess I did write my first you fic because I don't want to fully construct an OC... But also I like how Changie terms it. An apply fic because that's how I want it to be read. Be this character, of course it's not you but with enough detail you can believe it? I think that's a you challenge... OwO Now I want you to read my you fic. LOLOL

It is the appeal of Twilight. You might as well just name the character Pants because everyone fits into it. >>
