Perhaps it is because Ryeowook is an only child that he knows how it feels to be protected, to be cared for. Maybe that's why he strives to do the same for others - to be their protector, the one they come home to. He cooks their dinner every night because it was what his mother did for him. He listens to them whenever they need him because that's what his parents offered. He is their for them because he knows the comfort a fellow soul can provide.

Ryeowook isn't the bravest of the members. He isn't the strongest, nor the tallest. He isn't the funniest, nor the most popular. He's not the ones on all of the variety shows. He's not the one with all the dramas. He's not the one with constant exposure.

But he is the one the others come back home to.

Ryeowook is the bravest of the members when it comes to comforting others. He is the strongest when the others are not, and he stands the tallest when the others fall to their knees, almost defeated. He is the funniest when he needs to cheer them up, and he is popular and loved among the members. He is the one they rehearse scripts with, or the ones they practice lines and jokes with. He is the one who browses their fansites - all of theirs - and supports every single thing they do.

And maybe he flinches when he sees a bug, or screams on scary rides or during horror movies. Maybe sometimes he freezes up in front of the camera when he forgets his lines, or he says a joke wrong and it has to be cut entirely. Maybe he forgets how to be a "good idol".

But he never forgets how to be a good friend.

The thing is, Ryeowook is afraid of many things.

He is afraid of the hospitals, yet whenever a member might need to go, he would never hesitate to offer them a ride. He would never leave their side the entire time.

He is afraid of dogs, yet whenever a member asks him to look over their pet, he would agree without hesitation. He would make sure he takes care of their pets with the most care possible.

He is afraid of heights, yet he would surely, without hesitation, climb the tallest of mountains to bring s back home.

But there is one fear he can never overcome: his fear of losing all he loves. That fear that one day he will wake up and they will all be gone. He would go through hospitals and dogs and climb as many mountains as necessary to find them, and if he couldn't -

- he'd be useless.

What is his bravery without them? What is his strength, his will? They would be gone, deteriorated with his heart and all else he might have ever cared for.

Yes, Ryeowook has many fears, but he would fight through all of them for the ones he love.

Because if there is one thing Ryeowook would never fear, it would be loving people.
