Last month B.A.P’s main vocal combi talked about how they changed from the warrior concept to CRASH, which whose concept is a young boy in love. Also, apart from the parts they also have some other things in common, but this month, we made Youngjae and Daehyun talk about each other.
“There’s a member in B.A.P who I can’t explore”
Daehyun: Youngjae & Daehyun pair, it’s our second day today. Talking about that, we’re called ‘the YongDae couple’ among the fans.
Youngjae: Because we’re close, it seems like there are a lot of photos and videos of only the two of us. In fact, it’s not like we’re dating, of course (laughs).
Daehyun: So, this month’s Youngjae’s appearance time it’s finishing but since it’s a serial called ‘Explore B.A.P!’ I think you’ll be able to know more about us. I think about his a lot but, I’ve a lot of pride and it takes me a long time to open up. But Youngjae is good socializing and can control himself depending on the person. I really respect this part about him~.
Youngjae: When Daehyun is discussing with someone and when it seems like they’re settling it, his pride interferes and there are times when they wouldn’t come to an agreement (laughs). At those times, I think it’s better to solve the misunderstandings. That’s why I can’t leave him alone, what about trying to communicate a little harder?
Daehyun: I’m perfectly aware of that but…
Youngjae: But Daehyun it’s the presence that summarizes the group. The younger members are still young children but we understand well our advantages and disadvantages and I think we’re good hyungs. Besides, no matter in what situation, we cover them up, Yongguk.hyung does it in other ways, I think he’s the member they have in mind when it comes to B.A.P.
Daehyun: We’ve the central position in the group so we have to give signals to up and down (laughs). (Meaning that they’re not the eldest hyungs nor the maknaes) If we talk about the definitive roles/duties of B.A.P, Youngjae would be the anko (red bean paste) right~ because a pan without anko it’s not delicious right? He’s an indispensable being.
Youngjae: For me Daehyun is an indispensable existence. He’s the one I talk the most with and he’s also the one I talk with when I’m having problems, there have been a lot of times were he resolved them. We confide in each other when we’ve worries. We’ve some kind of counseling relationship.
Daehyun: We’re also the same age (Note: Youngjae is an early 1994-er, so they’re practically the same age in Korea) and are in charge of the vocals. But, still, our common point is that the both of us like music. Also, since we’re the vocals, since morning we warm up our voices in the car (laughs). Our ability to wake up is also good.
Youngjae: When he wakes up, he wakes me up (laughs). Our way of thinking is similar. I wonder if our values are similar too?
Daehyun: We’ve a lot of common points but our vocal style is different. What was the title of that ballad…? Ah, ‘마음이 시키는 일 (what my heart tells me to do)’. It’s a really calm and sad song but I think that Youngjae expresses that song really well. Youngjae grew up listening to black music to I think he’s really good at expressing ballads.
Youngjae: I’ve areas where I’m good and areas where I lack but because the difference between them is fierce, I’m making an effort to fill the gap. However, since Daehyun sticks to the basics completely, it doesn’t matter what kind of song it is, he has stability. Especially in WARRIOR Daehyun’s voice was powerful and superb! For me, WARRIOR’s recording was dreadful since my vocal style was different. If I could change places with someone I’d like to sing WARRIOR with Daehyun’s voice~.
Daehyun: The members also, just listening to the song, ‘This is Daehyun’s part’, ‘This is Youngjae’s part’, it’s like they can guess it.
Youngjae: Daehyun’s parts are powerful and high-pitched, and I’m the emotional one; while we’re recording the parts are distributed matching each one’s colors, specialties and good points.
Daehyun: By the way, who’s the member among B.A.P you can’t explore?
Youngjae: Because I know Daehyun very well he’s not a mystery. If I’ve to choose daringly I’ll say Jongup. I don’t know if Jongup is a genius or an idiot (laughs).
Daehyun: Aaah~ definitely. It’s really a mystery. There are times when he looks really smart but there are others when it’s really an enigma. For example there was this one time when he asked something like ‘why is this pen black?’.
Youngjae: That’s right. But since he asks about something that everyone thinks it’s natural, since it’s just too normal we can’t answer and everyone gets involved in Jongup’s pace…
