Planet Paradis is one of the rear planets in the Universe that contain life like Earth does. As its name says, Paradis is nicknamed Paradise of the Universe because of its beautiful, untouched nature and comforting, peaceful aura and because of its people who live in peace and harmony with each other and their surroundings. Paradis is the perfect place to be, unlike many other planets and unlike Earth itself.
However, not everyone is welcomed to live there. People of Paradis, Manuels, or more commonly known as Shape Shifters aren’t the friendliest people you would meet. They keep to themselves and they’re don’t really favour people from other planets or dimensions. They are very strict with their rules, are highly mannered, smart and peaceful. However, they aren’t hypocrites and don’t get jealous or angry easily. They believe that fighting or punishments won’t solve anything.
‘Manuel’ in Paraidisan language means ‘god-given’. However, the people of Paradis certainly do not look like children of Adam and Eve, made to look like God himself. Manuels and Manuelas are very tall and skinny people with tails, with blue skin (ranging from light blue when they’re born to dark blue when they grow old), with sparkling scales all over their bodies that also lose their shine as they age. Manuels are sometimes referred to as ‘Elves’ because of their height, long hair and pointy ears. The reason to this is also because of their pure, innocent and peaceful nature and a long lifespan which can reach over 1000 years counted in the full moons (Human years x 12 months). So technically, Manuels and Manuelas have birthdays every months (since the Paradisian year is shorter that normal Earth years), however, they only celebrate their birthday on the actual month of their birth.
Even though Manuels don’t like to interact with other people form the Universe, that doesn’t mean they hate them. When there’s someone of another race on their planet, they don’t murder, threaten or chase them away but instead they’re on high alert in case something happens. When you first step on Paradis, you would be surprised at how many different races live there in harmony but don’t be fooled. Manuels and Manuelas are natural illusionists and as shape shifters, they can change their form into anything as long as they know what that thing or person look like. Most Manuels prefer to be in some kind of a form during the day and they’d turn into their real form during night (or in the dark, shadowy areas) since nights on Paradis last longer than the day. Main reason to this shape shifting is because of their scales which are very vulnerable to strong light that illuminates from their Sun so to protect their main resource of life (the scales), the Manuels change their form. In those cases, the easiest way to recognize a Manuel in a different form is by the colour of their eyes which always stays indigo blue or purple no matter what form they’re in.

Personality Traits

Personality: 
Naryeo may appear quiet and mysterious at first but she has this warm, friendly vibe around her that makes many people intimidated by her. This causes a person to often underestimate her for someone who’s very sensitive and insecure in her heart, but Naryeo is nothing like that. Even though she puts up a mysterious façade, Naryeo is, in fact, very open-minded and easy to approach. She doesn’t mind being alone as she likes to focus herself on things that interest her and she never really paid much attention to what other people think of her. However, she always tries not to reveal too much about herself as she finds it hard to trust people and takes her time opening up to someone. Even though she seeks interest in things that not many kids her age are interested in, Naryeo is a person you could talk to about anything as she also likes to know about the things that don’t fit in her circle of interests. She’s very devoted and passionate when it comes to something she does or loves. Naryeo is the kind of person who believes she can always do better than she’s already doing. She is always willing to learn more or something new, hates mistakes and always tries her best and goes hard on herself, putting others’ wellbeing before her own. People are often surprised at how emotionally strong, independent and confident Naryeo is.
She’s often underestimated and mistaken as someone who obediently follows the rules. Yes, Naryeo follows them, she’s not a troublemaker, but she does have an attitude and even though she doesn’t like to argue and would do anything to avoid fight at any cost, she would fight for what she believes is right or for her own goals. She’s straightforward and honest, and is not afraid to tell the truth into the person’s face. If she doesn’t like someone, even though she doesn’t judge people at the first glance, Naryeo will show it. She does it only for the best, as she hates people faking, ing or picking on her or anyone she cares about. Naryeo is very confident and independent, very mature and responsible for her age. She’s a loyal and trustworthy friend, always there to provide some kind of comfort and support to those who need it.
Naryeo doesn’t like aegyo but she doesn’t dislike it either. Actually, she has giant immunity to it and using it on her is like doing it to a brick wall. She’s very patient and doesn’t lose her temper easily. She’s smart but doesn’t like to show off in front of others because she doesn’t like to attract too much attention nor does she want to prove herself to anyone. However, she knows how to have fun and when around people that she trusts and she feels comfortable with, she wouldn’t mind making a slight fool out of herself.
Even though she is independent and confident, even when mistaken for an insecure person, Naryeo has her weak moments from time to time and she prefers keeping them to herself until it cracks her form the inside. She has a great pride and would never, ever cry in front of anyone.

History

Personal background:
Naryeo was born to a Human mother and a Paradisian father. Her parents split up before she was even born because they knew they would never be able to be together (mainly because of their different race). Her mother kept her pregnancy a secret from Naryeo’s father and so Naryeo grew up with her mother never really knowing who her father was. She grew up thinking that her step-father was her father but she never really felt attached to him or to her step-sister in any way. Her mother and step-father met and married when Naryeo was 2.
Naryeo was born in Incheon where she lived until she was 12. Then her family moved from the city life to a more peaceful village Gangjong on Jeju Island. There, Naryeo fell in love with the sea and nature. There she also started to go through big, rough changes and she started to discover her abilities. When she just moves to Gangjong, her hair started to change colour every now and then and she also started to get glowing scales over her body every night. At first, her parents thought it was a weird form of puberty but her mother knew better. When Naryeo discovered her ability to read a person’s thoughts or see into their past just by a touch at the age of 15, her mother was forced to tell her about her real father as Naryeo managed to see into her mother’s past.
Soon after Naryeo found out about her father, she started to go through her first shape shifting changes. It was rather painful until she got used to the pain and it was hard to get people in the small village to understand the way Naryeo was but Naryeo didn’t really bother herself with them calling her a freak or keeping away from her. Instead, she became determined to learn more about her father’s race and someday, somehow meet him.

Parents and family:
Real Father : Gaho (Human name: Jung Kyu Hyun) – Manuel – 45 (Human years) / 540 (Manuel years) – Paradisian leader, researcher and journalist – Naryeo has never met her father (only heard about him) but is sincerely hoping to

Mother : Park Gyo Yeon – Human – 42 – History Teacher – A lovely, independent woman whom Naryeo looks up to. The only thing Naryeo doesn’t improve off is her mother trying to suppress her feelings for her father just because they were of different race.

Step-Father (‘Father’) : Park Jun Hyung – Human – 50 – Police Officer – A well-rounded man who looks after his family with passion and kindness. Naryeo isn’t very close to him, even though he’s always nice to her, Naryeo never felt like they have anything in common (even before she found out about her father).

Step-Sister (‘Sister’) : Park Da Young – Human – 20 – College Student – A bratty, spoiled younger step-sister of Naryeo’s. She isn’t related to Naryeo in any way except their parents marrying. Da Young can be a real but can be a devoted friend to those who satisfy her standards. Naryeo prefers keeping away from Da Young even when she knows Da Young would never dare to pick on her older sister even though she thinks she’s a freak (mostly because of her abilities).

Step-Brother : U-Know (Human name: Jung Yunho) – Manuel – 26 (Human) / 312 (Manuel) – Heir to his father’s leadership position – Naryeo doesn’t know anything about Yunho but Yunho knows about Naryeo. Even though his father doesn’t know about Naryeo either, Yunho’s abilities (which are the same as Naryeo’s) enabled him to see into his father’s past and know about his affair with this human girl.

Minho and Naryeo come from the same town and they went to the same primary school. The two of them were friends, growing up in the same neighbourhood and Minho never denied that he liked Naryeo in a way. However, when Naryeo’s family moved to Jeju Island, Minho was heartbroken and extremely sad. - the rest is up to you, author-nim ;)
