Fanfiction is creepy, embarrassing, and poorly written. ~Yeah right~

Fanfiction is creepy, embarrassing, and poorly written.

There are a lot of stupid parts of fandom, but fanfics - particularly slash fanfics - bother me to a ridiculous extent.

There is just something so wrong to me with manipulating a real person’s likeness into for your (or your follower’s) cheap enjoyment. If you wanna talk objectification and degradation, this is it. It’s basically saying “I’m going to completely disregard that you are an autonomous person. You officially exist for my enjoyment, and I’m not going to care about what you might really do/say/act like in reality and instead make you do whatever >I< want.”

The slash fics are the worst because really, think about it— what if you were a public figure and slathered all over the internet was graphic literature about you and your closest friends/coworkers/people you see as brothers/people you don’t even know or like. Straight or gay— this crap is invasive to a ridiculous extent.

And it’s not just this. The constant speculation about their orientation drives me nuts. Let’s not bring up the fact that no idol who wants to keep their career has ever up-front confirmed homouality. Or the fact that Korea is still largely homophobic.

Now, I hear a thousand fangirls crying foul to all this and saying that “Oh it’s so OBVIOUS that Soandso is gay for Soandso.” This is rampant, and it is everywhere, and we really have to stop and think for a second.

First of all- don’t you think the companies would monitor for this? Do you really think they would let someone obviously gay for his band-mates debut? Do you think they are stupid? The whole reason that Korea has so few mixed-gender groups is because of the problems it would bring up should the members choose to date/hook up/whatever. Do you really think the companies would take a chance in keeping two or more obviously gay kids in close proximity of each other 24/7?

Second- This goes without saying, but Korean culture is very different in that close friends of the same gender can engage in touching that is normally considered gay in other parts of the world.

Third- Nearly everything idols do ANYWHERE is under strict monitoring from their team of people, managers, companies, etc. You can bet that if they’re playing kissing games, hugging shirtless, or kissing on stage, there’s a big company somewhere that knows you all like fanservice, and they’re egging the homoism on (and all the while trying to make money off of it.)

And finally, let’s consider the actual incidence of homouality in the population. Studies vary on what it is, but it’s definitely NOT 100%. They can’t all be gay. They are not all gay. And assigning them orientations that they probably don’t identify with is a sign of utmost invasion of privacy and disrespect.

Ok I’m done.

s!b Obviously I don’t need the wrath of a million fangirls from writing this, but I still wanted to get it out there.

To whoever posted this to tumblr. You are lucky that I don't know who you are -_- If you don't like it fine, but you don't need to spread your hate and homophobia to me or anyone else, get over yourself please. And Korea is NOT largely homophobic! Have you been there? No you haven't so shut up their are plenty of gays in South Korea *eyeroll*. And some of the idols could be bi curious!

I don't  like Hetero relationships in stories and barely in real life, do you see me bashing people who like hetero relationships on the internet? Nope because people like what they like! There is nothing wrong with people liking straight couples just because they like malexfemale doesn't make them weird or wrong just like me liking femalexfemale or malexmale isn't wrong and no I am not invasive you prick I just love my idols okay. ~ish annoyed~

*jaw drops* Hope you don't mind me commenting...that person was just-just flat out RUDE. I know the idols may not be gay in real life, but I can still write Yunjae or fics if I want to darn it >< Yunho and Jaejoong, pretty much everyone in DBSK and other groups admit to reading and some of them like Yunho and Jaejoong enjoyed the fics they read :)

I thought you wrote that for a second until I read your writing in red XD Again hope you don't mind me commenting. I don't care for hetero or girlxgirl stuff much but you don't see me making blog posts on how I think it's 'wrong' or 'disgusting' because they're just genres.
