IU reveals that she nearly dated someone recently on ‘Go Show’

IU shared a story about her recent love life.

The singer was a guest on the November 2nd episode of SBS ‘Go Show‘. When she was asked about dating, she confessed, “I’ve never dated anyone after I initially debuted. No one asked me out.”

She continued, “There was no one in the beginning around the time of my debut, but there was someone recently. Usually, when I get asked this question, I just say I never dated anyone since my debut. But recently, I almost did date someone, but it didn’t work out. He sort of tried to test my emotions, so I just told him I was going to stop talking to him. I noticed that he’d read my messages, but he wouldn’t respond until much later, so I realized he was trying to play a little.” After revealing she rejected him, she continued, “He told me that he couldn’t understand, and I replied, ‘We don’t have enough feelings for each other to date right now, but it’s weird to go back to a place when we didn’t know each other, so I’m going to just stop talking to you.’”

She also complained, “If he expressed more and I was sure that he liked me, I could have told him that I liked him too, but he just kept making me confused. We’d be messaging each other, and then he would say nothing while we were talking about something important. We were talking about our feelings for each other, and he just stopped talking. And then he would say he just went to take a shower.”

IU then said, “I go crazy when I can’t contact people. I feel like they’re fooling around with me. If they check the message but don’t respond, I think to myself, ‘I’m the only one that’s obsessed. I have to stop’. Because I’m like that, I don’t want to date anyone until I’m 100% certain. I don’t know why people act like that.”

When asked if she’d ever publicly date, she said, “I’m going to hide it for as long as possible. Fans told me to make sure I don’t get caught, that I could do whatever I want but they asked me not to hurt them. Fans always tell me to hide it.“
