The moment you lay eyes on her, everything about her literally screams hiphop from her clothes, to the way she walks. More so when you hear her speak, her swagger is just everywhere. With her curvaceous body, whenever and wherever she passes by all the boys turn their heads to stare but Shinae isn’t the type to flirt.

 

She easily gets in to fights, especially in the scene that she hangs out on. Other girls accusing her of flirting with their boyfriends though none of them were true. She looks fierce and ready to pounce at any time but only to warn off those strangers and unwanted people. With her almond-shaped brown eyes, small pointed nose and beautiful pouty lips, she was perfect in every way. But there was more to Shinae than her good looks and physique.

 

Behind her looks, lies a simple girl with a passion for the performing arts. She has an exceptionally beautiful singing voice but prefers to rap. She loves to imitate her brother rapping all the time. When she was younger, she dances ballet but now she prefers popping, locking and break dancing.

*Background*

History :

She lived a simple and happy life with a mother, a father and an older brother. She lived in New York all her life. When she was a kid, she showed interests in dancing already which is why her parents enrolled her in ballet school. After all, a girl should be graceful right? She excelled beautifully in ballet, and performed well in school too all throughout her elementary and middle school years.

 

When she reached high school, her parents suddenly divorced with her mother marrying another man and her father, going to Korea with her brother. She channeled all the hate and the humiliation through dancing. She learned how to break dance with her other Asian friends. That’s when she started rebelling from her Mother. She sneaks out at night to go to rap and dance battles and she didn’t care about the trouble it entailed.

 

After living all her life in New York, she was sent to Korea to her brother, the two of them living together. Her brother, Lee HyukJae or EunHyuk was accepted into SM Entertainment. JiWon was one to tag along with her brother and learned techniques from him. EunHyuk successfully debuted as a rapper while JiWon tried out at various entertainment companies.

Previous training/experiences :

Since she was introduced to the underground scene, she was friends with Zico and JunHyung before. It was Zico who told her and JunHyung to try out with Cube entertainment. At first she hesitated and just continued to go to the underground scene while JunHyung tried out for Cube when he left his previous group Xing.
JiWon then decided to try out for Pledis Entertainment and got in. After training for a year, she was dropped.

One evening, JiWon was battling with one of the bboys and didn’t know that Tablo and Mithra Jin from Epik High was there that evening. After her battle, she was approached by Tablo and offered if she wanted to train under Woolim Entertainment. They saw her potential in rapping and dancing which is why Tablo didn’t pass up the opportunity. Of course she agreed, it was a big break for her to be discovered by one of the Epik High members. 

She trained under Woolim Entertainment for 2 years under the watchful eye of Tablo. He was his main mentor, concentrating on her rapping skills. Her dancing skills was being taken care of Haw from Prepix, receiving constant training from him. She was a secret trainee, unknown to the Infinite boys while they were training as well, except for Hoya. She was the only girl at Woolim Entertainment that time and she was being trained to debut as a solo artist.
