Poem: The End of Summer
I suddenly had this sad feelings, and I'm blaming the music I'm listening to, so I had to let them out.
I would rather see it as lyrics, lol. It's too plain to be a poem
THE END OF SUMMER
Cheerful chatters, summer smiles
Everyone is asking ‘how was summer’
I tune their voices out
And listen to the songbirds instead
I listen to my friend’s summer story
‘And then he kissed me under the stars’
I call it honey-like happiness
She calls it a summer love
The summer’s sun is fading
And so are the days I spent
The season’s urgent, time for autumn
But for me, it’s still summer
The teacher says it’s time to get working
Time to get our vacation hearts back
‘It’s good to get started again,’ they say
But my eyes see only summer skies
It feels like being chained by duties
By responsibilities you finally forgot about
Feet itches to run out the classroom
It’s too early for school to begin
School’s over, time to find my way home
Mom asks how my first day was
I smiled and said it was great
While eyes are fixed on my plate
It feels like nostalgia, it’s silly
But while I lie in bed, I feel the longing
Wanting something I don’t know
But I’m going to be okay
Cheerful chatters, shining smiles
I smile brightly while telling a joke
About how I met this summer boy
My friend called it a summer love
