Not really surprising since Dara lived in the Philippines and was somewhat a star there before joining 2NE1. Here's how the whole K-pop convo went.

Mom: *telling every single relative we met about how I love K-pop and how I went to NY for SMTown*

Every single relative: Yeah, K-pop. Do you know Sandara Park?

Me: *nods head because I didn't like to talk much during the first few days*

Relatives: She used to live in the Philippines before.

Me: I know. She also has a brother, Chendoong, whose in a group too.

Relatives: *completely ignore my last statement and continues talking 'bout Dara*

So.... Yeah, My relatives love Dara XD Probabky not as big as I love K-pop but, y'know like "Oh, she's from the Philippines? Man, I totally love her!" They see her as the pride of Filipinos in the global entertainment business along with Charice.
