yeah, i'm an exo fan but i agree.
just cus' i'm an exo fan doesn't mean i want to see them 23554756455463 hours of the day and sometimes my mood gets ruined when i read a -not bad per say, but something i could have gone without reading- exo story.
sometimes i think just having featured is stupid because since everyone knows that right now, the only way to get featured is to write about exo therefore people will write about exo just to get featured. make sense? /brick'd
just stick to the tags and let people wander around there.

tbh, i only check out the featured fic just to comment so i can gain karma OTL i never really read the featured fics, they never gain my interest.

And it has only been what... 3-4 months. SHINee was like there for 9 months at least.

AFF has seasons. Right now, it's EXO's just like Shinee was before (like you said). Notice that the Jaejoong or even the DBSK tag is no longer in the popular tags when 'Jaejoong' is numbah 1 before.

I have a habit of going to the homepage just to check if boss left any announcements. I don't want to look stupid for not reading lol.

Being the newb that I was, I would notice these featured stories. I would click on them and I really believed that it is a random thing to be featured. LOL. Like the system randomly picks any story but then I noticed that the fics always featured SHINEE. And Jonghyun is always the player lol. It is where I learned the word 'wifey' xD

And so I did a research on the site and found out how the algorithm chooses featured fic or basically, the popular fics. Being the polite and civil person that I am, I would click on these stories and drop a comment - congratulating the person since most users do that even though they are not readers. But in time I got tired (hoho) since most are not worth congratulating (Bad Keeper).

Dw, another boyband will debut and they will claim the featured stories section. This only proves that AFFers put the stories there to be featured and the criteria is popularity. Readers would go here to read about the band they like. Unless the band you like is what the majority wants, they will never be featured. Bow.

I usually dont read featured stories. 0.0 But some stories are actually good and do get featured. Soooo i guess its just SOME stories that dont deserve the featured title.

I can just smell the NU'EST army marching over with their pens of fury and shields of wit, seated on their mighty blonde unicorns. Trudging over to AFF, their lips while they tear the walls apart and invade the kingdom of fanfic authors. Soon all fandoms face a huge challenge to their penmanship and surrender to the hands of these new-comers.
