First Birthday Bash?

My first birthday bash.

From the people who shouldn't care about it the most.

It isn't even my birthday yet, but we all celebrated it early, just because we had Japanese class.

Yeah, it was my Japanese course friends who surprised me.

They messaged me telling me they were going to celebrate another guy's birthday and told me to stay back, and all along I had the belief we were going to celebrate that guy's birthday. Even though I know mine is drawing near, I didn't particularly bother because I didn't think it made all the difference to have to trouble people to sing me a song when it's not even my birthday. But one of the girls came up to me and hugged me tight, and I stared at her, and she just kept telling me to stay.

I was like, "What? When was she ever this affectionate?" Like she was literally squeezing me and pressing her face into my hair and stuff.

And then suddenly she covered my eyes with her hands.

I was like WTF? Is this necessary? And I was like, "Okay... Well..." and I started pulling at her hands. But she kept still, and she was screaming, "No! No! No!" and I was like, "What are you doing?" and then afterwards she overpowered me and covered my eyes, just as the a glowing birthday cake popped up in front of me.

I was like screaming, "WHAT? YOU ARE CELEBRATING MINE?"

And they were like, "Duh. Is it OUR birthday?" And I was like smiling because I didn't know what to do to show my state of shock.

At this point my Japanese teacher asked me how old I was and I made an embarrassing mistake telling her I was eighteen then saying 17 years old wrongly when I'm supposed to be one of the top scholars in her class, ah screw it - and then they told me to make a wish. So I made a wish and I blew out the candles immediately. LOL. And they all panicked and told me, "HEY HEY HEY NOT SO FAST! THERE'S ANOTHER ONE!"

So it turns out they told me a half-lie. We WERE staying back to celebrate the other guy's birthday. So after taking pictures and a song for the two of us, I suddenly felt my face pushed down against the cake. I was like HO WTF but I kept my composure because it was from the same girl who had covered my eyes. The other birthday guy next to me was forcing himself out of the cake's way, but him against three guys determined to see his face into the cake? He didn't even stand a chance. His face flopped right into the center of it and when he lifted it up, I laughed.

But he moved too fast for me to laugh long, because he started grabbing at the guys who pushed him in and the cake started flying all over the place. I was still reeling from shock of everything.

It was so fun. I swear I'm so touched I could cry, but somehow the tears aren't coming.

Probably they do it for everyone they know- but to me it was really special that they made the effort to do it.

They were the ones who shouldn't have cared the most, because what was I? I was a passing existence. I didn't talk to them much. But they always shoved me into their social circle and made me a big part of them. I don't know why. It all started because of a seat I chose in the Japanese classroom. A seat that paved the way to all these awesome people.

They are the reason I smile in my Japanese class. The reason I look forward to Japanese class.

The reason I look forward to life.

I love them all, all eight of them.

You have some of the most caring people in your Japanese class. I totally agree to what my darling cousin TiaraL said. :) You're blessed to be in the good hands of your friends.
