Tae Seol was born in Osaka while his parents were in Japan for a family trip with their older sons TaeMin and TaeSun. He was born one month earlier but that didn’t affect him later in his life. Tae Seol grew up in Seoul, South Korea having a fairly normal childhood. However, being the youngest child in the family, he was precious to his parents and brothers and was always looked after and treated like a baby. Truth be told, he hated to be treated as a baby, especially in his teenage years. But he never said anything against his brothers. In fact, he loved spending his time with them and was always influenced by them to become a musician. Despite his parents’ contradictions, Tae Seol has learned how to dance and rap since young age, his brothers helping him from time to time.
During his high school years, Tae Seol showed a lot of interest in underground rap and dance battles and he was actually really good at it and respected amongst the other rappers and dancers. He performed under his stage name Reita, firstly because he was proud that he was born in Japan and also because his mother would occasionally call him like that when he was a child. (Apparently, that name has a meaning ‘pearl’ and Tae Seol’s birthstone is pearl.) At that time, his parents stopped treating him as a baby as he was becoming rebellious and there was no point in fighting with a stubborn person like Tae Seol. He had big dreams of becoming an idol under any circumstances and when his brother TaeMin became one, he felt like he had a chance to do it. TaeMin, who has already debuted with SHINee when Tae Seol was 13, has suggested auditioning for SM Entertainment and the latter did. He got in with ease and was their trainee for 3 years.
When he was 16, he started training for his debut with SM’s brand new band EXO. However, Tae Seol was replaced by Sehun at the last minute, apparently because the elder looked ‘more muscular’ than him. This SM’s decision broke Tae Seol apart because he had high hopes of becoming an idol. Not to mention that his father passed away only a day before he was replaced. Tae Seol promised his father, who was dying of lung cancer, that he will see him debut and become an idol but that day never came. Tae Seol then dropped out of SM Entertainment but with the support of his brothers and mother, he managed to get up on his feet again, and join another company which gave him a new chance of becoming an idol.

THE FACE BEHIND THE MASK
Tae Seol is a hard to read guy. When around new people, he seems like a cold and quiet, sometimes even arrogant person. He acts hard to get and often has no shame. He has a sharp tongue and is not ashamed of saying something into someone’s face. Being dirty-minded, he also often makes very rude jokes or statements. However, whatever he says is always honest and true and even though he doesn’t like seeing people hurt, he doesn’t like when others are ing or picking on him either. He would never put someone down for his own benefit, to prove himself to someone but if he has to defend himself than, he won’t hold back his tongue.
However, most of the time, Tae Seol is not like this. His family and friends actually know him as a carefree and outgoing kid who doesn’t give away his trust easily. Him, being raised as the baby of the family, was taught that he can’t trust all people and therefore he doesn’t. He ‘tests’ people with his arrogance and straightforwardness to see if they’re someone worth of befriending or not. He’s not really much of a trouble maker but he often gets into fights because he’s light-headed and likes to be noticed. However, he doesn’t like too much attention but he loves when someone shares close moments with him or just simply talks to him about anything. He takes his time when opening to someone but once he does, he becomes a trustworthy person everyone would love to be friends with. Even though he can be stubborn at times and likes to be dominant in everything he does, Tae Seol is still very gentle, kind and cares about those he loves. When it comes to them, he would fight for their happiness even if it means putting his friends or family before his own life.
Tae Seol is smart, hardworking person who doesn’t like when stuff is just handed in to him. He likes to deserve something or earn it with his own two hands. He’s a type of a person that can be very harsh on himself at the times as he's convinced that he can always do better than he’s already doing. Tae Seol can be really rebellious and stubborn at times and likes to be independent. He doesn’t like to show his emotions to anyone, except only few people. However, even though he’s emotionally strong and it is hard to hurt him, is something is bothering him he prefers to keep it to himself until it cracks him from the inside. When that happens, he would prefer having someone by his side when he feels like pouring his emotions out.

MinHa: Tae Seol and MinHa are literally like cat and dog. Minha's constant whining and ing always annoys the hell out of Tae Seol and when he snaps at her, it always leads to a fight between the two. Tae Seol doesn't want to have anything with Minha, constantly avoids meeting with her but if he's asked to do something with her by the company, he will do it but again, it will most likely end up in another fight.
Caryn: Unlike others, Tae Seol actually likes Caryn because even though she's not an angel, she does admit it and accept all Tae Seol's honest comments with appreciation. He finds Caryn rather fun to be around and the two like to spend time with each other. Tae Seol wouldn't get attached to Caryn too much but he still prefers her over Minha.
