A Photoshop tutorial for my friend, Hana.

How to make a simple happy/comedic poster.

Things you'll need:

  

 

1. Open a new blank canvas with the size of 500x650.

2. Prepare the pictures you are going to use. I'll use Sungmin and IU for this one(what's new? xD) and I had them cut already. You can use any method to cut the pictures(polygonal lasso tool, quick selection tool, etc.) Then paste/drag them to the canvas. Resize them too.

3. Use the blue texture as a background. Make sure it is placed under the characters. Resize it to fit the canvas. Get the stripes one, resize it then rotate/tilt.

4. Get a new layer, put it on top of the stripes texture. Make sure that the new layer is active. Press ctrl then click the thumbnail of the stripes texture. Once it is selected, go to edit>fill. The color should be #07a9f5. Set it to Color Dodge(blending options).

5. Using the pen tool, make an irregular shaped rectangle, right-click>fill path. Set the color to #8cdbfc. Right-click it>delete path. Then paste the orange flower and the bouquet of roses, resize them.

6. Select the layer of IU's picture then click fx>. The size should be 3 px, color white. Do the same with Sungmin's.

7. Create a new layer, make sure it is on top of all the layers. Go to edit>fill. The color should be #b6e3f8. Set it to Soft Light with 70% opacity. Get another new layer on top of that. Fill it with the color #f698ec. Set it to Soft Light, 50% opacity.

8. Go to New Adjustment Layer(the black and white circle)>Curves. The output should be 34 and the input should be 49.

9. Go to New Adjustment Layer again then click selective coloring. Adjust it like this: (I made it big so it'll look clearer).

10. Type the title. I used "My Only Girl" as the title. I used the font Candy Script for the words "My" and "Girl" and Jellyka - Love and Passion for the word "Only". I put a border/highlight for the words "My" and "Girl". Place the red flower as shown(make sure that it is above the orange one). I also resized and tilted/rotated the words.

11. Type the other texts like the credits, author and the quotes.

12. Open the animation windows by clicking Windows>Animation.

13. Duplicate the layer of the word "Only" twice.

14. Go to the first copy then tilt it a little. Go to the second copy and do the same but tilt it in a different direction.

15. Make the word "Only" bold (all including the copies)

16. On the first frame, hide the original of "Only" and the second copy. Make another frame. On that frame, hide the first copy and unhide the second copy. Change the delay time to 0.5 sec.

17. Go to File>Save For Web and Devices>Save to save it as a gif file but if you're going to post it in DeviantArt(where I post my posters), you'll need a preview image. Go to File>Save As>Select JPEG format to save it as a .jpeg image. You should also save it as a .psd file if ever you'll want to change to make some changes with it in the future.
