Lip-syncing

My favorite band is a J-pop band. I own most of their concerts on DVD - I’ve been happy to buy them because all of the performances are always quality. They sing and dance live, even when some of their dances are extremely strenuous. (One member regularly raps while being thrown into the air by the other members for one song.)

Now, this band is not a particularly well known band. (It’s AAA a.k.a Attack All Around for the curious.) They are however idols. They have pretty much the same type of music as idols. I wouldn’t say any of them are better singers than the members of DBSK, for example. However, 90% of DBSK’s performance involve lip syncing. It’s not because they can’t sing live - I’ve heard them do it. I’ve even seen them dance and sing live at the same time. You know, if they did it more often, they’d be even better at that.

I’ll tell you one thing - if I start watching a performance and hear lip syncing, I stop it immediately. (Unless it’s a performance-only song, like SHINee doing “Just Dance”.) It just isn’t worth my time to watch a singing and dancing group doing only half of what they should be doing. (Maybe it’s enough for you to watch them do their choreography live, but that’s not my thing.)

EXO is brand new - I am so in love with their voices on their mini-album. Seriously, amazingly, in love. I think they have all the potential to be some of the greatest singers ever in K-pop. However, I don’t ing know until I hear them live. For all I know, they’re a bunch of pretty faces pretending to sing with someone else’s voice - or they’ve been very heavily autotuned. (I really doubt these things, I’m just saying.)

They are not the only group, or rookie group, that is only lip-syncing right now. They’re the ones particularly bothering me though, because of my own high hopes. (And who caused those high hopes? SM!!! *FIST*) I’ll never approve of lip-syncing, but what’s even worse is the sad excuses that people come up with for them.

“It’s hard to dance and sing at the same time.” Okay, well lots of artists do it - and do it great. There’s something wrong with a band if they can’t do it tbh. (And again, I’m not saying EXO can’t do it - I’m just saying they won’t, at least not yet.)

“They’re new.” Other rookie groups come out singing live all the time. EXO’s big rivals B.A.P is just one rookie group that performs live. (I personally think their singers sound like live, but I’d still rather watch them perform than EXO at this point.)

“They have to sing two songs in a row!” LOL Holy crap omg wow oh no SINGERS have to SING two songs in a row!?!?! I’m sorry but as many singing hopefuls are in this world right now, this is a ridiculously dumb defense. You know what? I’m not even a trained singer, but I can keep my voice consistent for two songs, shisus. Take for example some bands who do ENTIRE CONCERTS LIVE. (Again, AAA ;D)

Like, it’s okay to support EXO (or whatever artists have you) through their lip-syncing. I know I still love the “MAMA” album, all of the teasers, and all of the mvs. I just don’t approve of their performances, and I say shame on any fan who claims it’s okay for them to lip-sync.

(psst am I really mad or is this just a not so subliminal AAA pimp? You decide.)

IDK. DBSK sings live most of the time though. and they're really good. EXO isn't lip syncing now. they're not that bad. let's just wait, maybe they'll improve.
