A Word to the Reviewers

I don't know why you think telling someone his/her story is 'absolutely perfect' seems like a good thing to do. Especially when, you know, the story isn't good. At all.

Because trust me - you're only helping add to the veil of ignorance that writer has wrapped around her head. She thinks she's perfect thanks to you, and now she will refuse to listen to actual reviewers who want to help her improve her writing.

Thank you for making my job harder.

I'm glad you're keeping the writer happier, I suppose, but think of the price it comes at. Sure, the world could totally be at peace and constantly happy if we ignored everything going wrong, but then where would we be in reality? Chaos, that's where.

I'm not saying you have to flame the writer and tell her everything wrong with her, but it wouldn't hurt to add in a small tip in every comment/review you leave.

For example,

"I like the idea of your plot, but you might want to remember to keep your characters in check."

"Excellent chapter, but remember to use spell check!"

"I really enjoyed your story so far, but if I may give you a tip: _____"

And, you know, add some smileys and . They always make messages look nicer and sweeter.

Not here to spread the hate, just the love for decent writing~

Review by review, we can make this site a better place for reading :)

(See, smiley faces and inspirational messages make this message seem so much nicer than it actually is.)
