Chloe has tried all her life to be perfect, constantly trying to prove her worth by others accepting her or liking her. Her diligence makes her a force to reckon with and has her rconstantly working on her craft. But it also makes her have severe tunnel vision and stubborn to change. She sees things black and white, either right or wrong and a lot of the time she is right. She's always been obedient and doesn't like to rock the boat or go out of social norms. Despite being from New York she always fit into Korean society quite well because she quickly picked up on their ways and fell in line.

The thing is she doesn't strive to be liked by people around her, she doesn't care (so she says) about having friends. She wants the awards and recognition from the general public and important people to prove her parents wrong. So she never stops working and tries to be the picture perfect person. Being a perfectionist is good because she only does high quality work but its also bad because it leads her to being a workaholic, and when things don't go well she beats herself up and only works harder because she doesn't deserve a break.

These expectations go to others as well, if there's a deadline she would never miss it so she expects the same amount of hardwork from others. If not you'll get a death glare and a mini lecture. She doesn't have much patience for incompetence or lateness. Thats why people say she's scary when she's producing, she prepared the music and she expects you to come prepared too having worked on your vocals and know your lines already. Her glare up at you while you're recording is no joke. She even managed to make Ren almost pee his pants since he kept messing up, Baekho had to tell her to control her face a bit to ease his nerves.

Even without having to Chloe naturally took a co-leader position since she tends to be a control freak fond of everything being in order and on time. She is responsible and organized with no room for if, ands or buts, she keeps her word and always does her part to the best of her abilities. If the girls have to be up and out by 8am she would make a schedule and wake the girls up accordingly and monitor them, she didn't get her name sergeant choi for no reason. She would nag the girls more than Seunghwa which is why she thinks its best if she wasn't leader because Seunghwa has a nicer  way with words than she does.

Being so intelligent, Chloe uses her brain more than her emotions. She does what she thinks its right or practical and says things without considering others feelings. She can be like your typical asian mom sometimes, hurts your feelings and then gives you sliced fruit later to make up for it. She is reserved when it comes to how she feels, only letting people she is close to know that side of her. She'd never shed a tear in front of everyone, she rather hold it in.  But her lyrics tend to be deep though and usually they come from her own life experiences so thats a bit of therapy for her.

She'd never say she cares, instead you'd see it in her actions like how she always gets your favorite snack or makes sure your hair is fixed. Her close friends know her more nerdy side that gets excited from finding a new rock to add to her rock collection or her many thoughts about the world and conspiracy theories with too much evidence to even. be called a conspiracy theory. 

Chloe's need to be liked actually makes her pretty jealous and self-conscious. She's not jealous of everyone but if someone gets something that she thinks should be hers she would feel some type of way and work harder. Her envy tends to drive her hard work and her self-consciousness is what makes her kind of boring to the general public, her need to be perfect all the time makes her say all the right things but not authentic at all since everything seems so calculating. She could never just chill and be her nerdy self.

BACKGROUND

Chloe was born in New Jersey to a middle class family. She was the first born but after two years her younger sister Zoe was born. Once Zoe was born she was put to the side. Zoe was a more outgoing child and everyone loved the younger and cuter one. Chloe grew up faster than she was supposed to and felt like she had to prove herself all the time to get some kind of attention.

She became a high achiever, she got awards for her academia since first grade and excelled in anything they put her in. She took piano since she was 5 and got the hang of it very easily. She was on her way to being a piano prodigy and even won some competitions. By 8 she was able to join Juilliard’s Pre College program for piano, a very competitive and word renowned program for gifted children. During one of her recitals, Zoe had a ballet recital the same day so her mom went to hers while her dad went to Chloe’s. Sure she clapped and said she did well at her solo but she made sure to quickly drive to Zoe’s recital and clapped way more enthusiastically for her mediocre performance.

While Chloe had to be perfect all the time, Zoe didn’t get that burden. Her grades were perfect and the minute she got a B or an A- her parents expressed their disappointment in her instead of congratulating all her achievements before that.

She had some friends but most of her time was spent practicing or studying. Naturally her interest in piano became her creating her own songs and singing. When she was 12 she started taking an extra elective at Juilliard for voice and learned from an opera singer. That helped her find her love of singing.

In 2012 she learned that her favorite show Superstar K was holding auditions in New York and she decided to audition singing an original song and showing her piano skills. She was able to pass that stage and went to Korea to join the show. During that time she was only 14 but lived in her grandma. She studied Korean diligently so she was fluent enough to communicate. She did well on the show but ended up getting eliminated at 20th place. Still her talent helped her catch the attention of Pledis and she was signed soon after.

TRAINEE YEARS technically she trained for only 1 month in total before debuting but she's been at pledis for 2 years and 1 month. 
　♮ After joining Pledis Chloe immediately started preparing for her debut and debuted that same year. She expected to be a longtime solo artist but instead she couldn’t keep public interest and Pledis put her career on the shelf due to lack of sales.

She stayed at Pledis though making music and practicing on her own. She never went back to training, for the next two years she prepared for her comeback that the company kept delaying and making excuses for. 

So when Pledis staff approached her a few days before 16tv’s airdate asking her to join the show as a trainee she was offended and confused. She never wanted to be in a group but they said they needed her vocals and it was easier to be famous in a group than solo, later she could just go solo again. It would be great for her career and the group, a win-win. After hours in the meeting room she finally agreed and met the girls the next day, but she didn’t expect to see her sister there at all.

Even her interactions with her sister was like a black cat and a golden retriever. Usually she was with Seunghwa or practicing in a solo practice room. The upload went viral in korea and sparked many rumors with the biggest being that chloe and baekho are dating. people started to assume that she was only getting opportunities because of his connections (since she won the masked singer by 1 vote) and not her voice. his fans also started hating on her. pledis denied the rumors since they already broke up but the damage was done. all Chloe worked hard on came crashing down, her dream was finally coming true and Zoe ruined it.  To chloe it seemed like on purpose too. ︰ after she starts gaining recognition.

FIRST MEETING Chloe first met Seungkwan through Woozi, he introduced them because they were both good vocalists and the same age and he thought Chloe needed some more friends. She met Dokyeom later in the studio when she met the rest of Seventeen.
INTERACTIONS It was weird at first, the boys didn’t know how to address her since technically she debuted first. But after they decided to drop those honorifics to be more comfortable. Since she was already friends with Seungkwan she liked to while do Dokyeom she treated him with respect and complimented him a lot. Dokyeom and Chloe make fun of Seungkwan a lot.

　♮ why hello there, my name is Chloe Choi. You may recognize me from superstar k4 or my previous solo endeavors but now I am the main vocalist and co-producer of Sixteen.

AFTER YEARS OF 16TV, YOU'RE FINALLY DEBUTING! HOW DOES IT FEEL?
　♮ Redebuting feels a bit strange. I’m excited to go back to music shows but I do feel a bit anxious about the results though I’m trying to keep a positive mind.

SEVENTEEN WILL BE YOUR MENTORS THROUGHOUT THE PROGRAM. WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THAT? WHO IS YOUR MENTOR, AND WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT HIM?
　♮ I’m good friends with some of Seventeen, I guess now I should call them Seventeen sunbaenim. My mentors are Seungkwan and DK. They’re both very talented vocalist so I look forward to working with them.
