It is no surprise to all that Hwan Jungeun is a responsible woman. She does tasks at a reasonable pace and rarely asks for help. Most of the time, Jungeun also takes accountability for her actions and follows through on any sort of commitments she makes. By this, Jungeun is also practical and efficient. She does everything by the book. She is very realistic in this way, and takes time before making any sort of rash decisions. Jungeun is the type of person who thinks before she speaks. Jungeun is hospitable, meaning that she is a great caregiver. Being from a huge family and being one of the oldest grandchildren, it is natural for Jungeun to step in as a motherly role and take care of everyone. In return, Jungeun is an optimist. She simply wishes the best for everyone and hopes that they can lead happy and healthy lives. She knows that life can throw obstacles at you but also believes that you can overcome them by working hard and just being positive in general.
It may come as a surprise to most, seeing how attentive and optimistic Jungeun can be, but she's actually reserved. Jungeun doesn't make herself overtly known, and actually prefers being away from the spotlight. Being empathetic in most ways, Jungeun can be very pensive. She can overthink on one simple thing and becomes nonverbal when doing so, just trying to come up with any sort of solution.
Jungeun is the true definition of a workaholic. While it can be a good thing to work hard at what you do, Jungeun takes it a step further by disregarding her personal needs with work life. With this, comes her compulsion. Jungeun doesn't know how to say no, letting herself have something to constantly do. This may lead her into a spiral, obsessing over one thing until she gets it right until satisfied. Going back to her optimistic outlook, Jungeun can be ignorant in a way that she doesn't see the downside to things. She was fortunate enough to not have so many traumatic experiences throughout her life that it can be hard for her to truly understand one's situation. Jungeun always plays devil's advocate. And finally, Jungeun can be selfish in a way that causes her to be reprehensible. No matter the situation, she finds a way to convince herself that she's the source of the problem. This causes her to be in a pensive position, overanalyzing what she could or couldn't do and being regretful, despite not being at fault.

BACKGROUND Oh Namjoo was Hwan Jaebeom's girlfriend for only one and a half months before getting pregnant with his baby. While neither of them were ready for marriage, they agreed to keep the baby and co-parent, although breaking up as the two didn't see a romantic future with each other.
And thus, Hwan Jungeun was born on June 18th, 1993 in Suwon, South Korea. Her life was relatively simple, she lived with her mother for most of the year but visited with Jaebeom often during the holidays. Soon enough, however, Jaebeom was a father of multiple children, yet always had a very special place in his heart for Jungeun, as it was one of his first children.
As Jungeun got older, she wanted to see the world. She had plans to do so after graduating university. She studied at Seoul National University, studying in law, specifically in environmental law. Jungeun was doing quite well for herself, that is, until a surprise came along.
Jungeun's pregnancy was a surprise to all. After a party, she had woken up by the feeling of throwing up. She had thought it was just food poisoning, and that it would go away in a few days. It didn't. Concerned, Jungeun went to the doctors to see if she really had food poisoning. She didn't and the doctor told her that she was 3 weeks pregnant. Jungeun was astonished, she didn't plan to have kids so soon, this had ruined her life plan. At first, she didn't want the baby, she had planned to get an abortion shortly after she found out and before her parents did. But eventually, her parents found out about her pregnancy and had mixed feelings, but at the end of the day Jungeun was an adult and could make her own decisions. Ultimately, Jungeun decided to keep the baby and so had her daughter, Hwan Yurim in September of 2014.
Jungeun was a first time parent, she had no idea what she was doing. After Yurim's birth, Jungeun raised Yurim for six months in Suwon, to get help from Namjoo, moving back to Seoul once she felt comfortable on her own. When she moved back to Seoul, Jungeun had no idea what to do, she didn't have her parents with her to guide her in her parental life. She had filled her apartment with parental books, as she was afraid that she might make a wrong move while raising Yurim.
In terms of her love life after having Yurim, Jungeun found herself struggling in that area. Most people do not want to date a single mother to a toddler, and while she understood that Yurim was a dealbreaker, Jungeun still wanted a father figure for her.
The Hwan family was overbearing with this as well. Whenever she visited the village, her aunts and uncles would always ask if there was a special someone in her life. And even if there was someone, the family found themselves nitpicking, claiming that they just wanted the best for Jungeun and Yurim.
Jungeun met her now husband, Yoon Dakhyun through a mutual friend about three years ago. Right from the get go, the two fell in love. He was everything that Jungeun was looking for in a relationship. The pair got very serious very quickly, but Jungeun chose not to tell her father's side of the family because she was afraid that they would judge the relationship. But soon enough, the couple decided to elope with a very small and selective wedding party at the end of last year.
Since then, Jungeun has been living a simple life with her husband and daughter. Recently, she accepted a job offer in Singapore that starts next year. The couple had been trying for a second child since they got married and eventually Jungeun got pregnant, with the baby due in May of next year.
Jungeun hasn't really seen all of her father's side family since Wonsik's passing, but decided to spend the holidays with them, as she won't be able to see them for a while.

ROUTINE Jungeun starts her day by waking up at 5:30am, with Dakhyun waking up about an half hour later. She does her usual routine of showering, tidying up the house, and making breakfast for her family before waking up Yurim for school at about 6:30am. Jungeun then promptly makes sure that Yurim has done whatever she needs for school and the mother-daughter duo leaves the house at about 7:00am for school. Jungeun drops Yurim off about thirty minutes before school starts at 8:00am because that's the time the office hours are also open. And from 8:00am to 6:00pm, Jungeun is at the office all day. Her nightly routine is pretty much the same as the morning. Depending on how much work she has, Jungeun typically goes to bed anywhere from 11:00pm to 2:00am. Jungeun's days off pretty much follow the same routine on work days, just more time to spend with her husband and daughter.

CURRENT LIVING SITUATION Jungeun currently lives with Dakhyun and Yurim in a reasonable sized apartment in the heart of Seoul. They also have two tabby cats, Timon and Pumbaa.

SECRET Jungeun eloped with Dakhyun last year, but no one from the Hwan family is aware of it. On top of that, Jungeun is currently pregnant and just entered her second trimester with a baby boy and plans to move out of the country to Singapore after the baby is born.

≛ Jungeun had a serial dating/hookup phase in college, but ultimately stopped when she got pregnant with Yurim because honestly she didn’t want to end up like her father.
≛ She also knows who Yurim's father is. It’s an old friend that she had a situationship with, but she decided not to tell him that he has a kid. It’s better off that way in Jungeun's eyes, they aren’t in contact with each other but they both know that they are living happy lives.
≛ She has undiagnosed OCD and a lot of her symptoms are at face value. Her family suspects she has it, and she even does to, but is afraid to go get tested.
≛ Jungeun does plan on telling her secrets to the Hwan family this year, bringing along Dakhyun and Yurim.
≛ As the story starts, Jungeun is entering her second trimester and is beginning to visibly show without the help of tight clothing.

CHUSEOK Probably Jungeun's favorite holiday, mostly because of the food. She usually spends it with her mother, and a faux Chuseok with Dakhyun's family.

HALLOWEEN Halloween is pretty simple in the Yoon-Hwan household, Jungeun spends the night in the apartment while Dakhyun takes Yurim trick-or-treating. And yes, Yurim always has the best Halloween outfits.

CHRISTMAS The most chaotic holiday the Jungeun celebrates, mainly because she spends them with her father's side. She usually finds it overwhelming at times but somehow gets through it.

NEW YEARS Like Halloween, New Years is also sweet and simple. Depending on how they are feeling, the family of three either spends it at home or at a friend’s place. Honestly, to Jungeun, New Years is just another day, nothing too special in her eyes.
