jaebin and his twin sister, saebin, were born to a regular old family in a regular old town. even as kids, the siblings were about as different as they could be. jaebin gravitated towards the STEM fields, and saebin preferred the humanities. they were both, however, fairly good at learning languages, so they made a pact to study abroad together when they grew up. the year they were 16, the dungeons started appearing. you'd think this would put their study-abroad plans to a screeching halt, but in reality, their parents thought that other countries might be slightly safer than their own country, so they worked super hard to get the twins out of korea.
in 2012, the same year that hunters began to appear, jaebin went to america to study physics. saebin went to china to study the chinese language, but they kept in touch through technology. at the same time, they found out that the situation in other countries was definitely not better, and in fact, it might even be worse. but i mean, what can normal people do other than go on with their lives, right? so jaebin studied physics and tried his best to ignore the chaos going on around him. in the meantime, saebin had awakened as a d-rank with mostly archival abilities and had joined a chinese guild who was trying to get to the bottom of the whole mess and find out what was actually happening and why.
since saebin was staying in china, jaebin moved back to korea after he graduated in 2016 so he could be closer to his family, and also because he was worried about them. at this time, he was unemployed (who's hiring a physicist in this kind of economy?? cries in physics) but made some money by gambling on card games and being an online tutor for high school students. in 2018, the family suddenly received news that saebin had died. the news immediately caused his mother to fall ill, and the family moved in with jaebin's grandparents in the countryside so that his mother could recover in her childhood home. from then on, the family was cast over with sadness, and the stress caused jaebin to awaken immediately as a c-rank with abilities that corresponded to his card-playing skills.
one of saebin's colleagues in china, called jackson, felt really awful about what had happened to her, so he came all the way to korea to tell jaebin the truth, that saebin had been killed by a rival guild that was jealous of all the progress they'd made. their guild had nearly all perished, and jackson wanted revenge, so he offered to train jaebin and help him reach his level so that when the time came, they could avenge saebin and the fallen guild. jaebin could not care less about the guild, but he wanted to destroy the people who killed his sister, so he agreed. for his family's safety, he had to cut off contact and spent a long time going around the world with jackson, levelling up and honing his skills until he could be considered a top player.

now, he lives in seoul in an apartment with three cats and does miracle guild things through whichever way they correspond (but in a way that no one really gets to know his private life). they only ever know him as narcissus and respect the fact that he prefers not to get too close to anyone other than doing missions or dungeons together.
i do think it'd be interesting if, throughout the story, he comes to trust miracle guild enough to tell them his real name and ultimate revenge mission (or if they somehow find out through their own means). and the revenge stuff will be elaborated upon in his relations with saebin and jackson!

through extensive research, it's been found that dark river is a secretive organization made up by those who genuinely like fighting in dungeons and powering up. its members may not be the strongest, but they are ruthless and enjoy carnage. you can feel free to change this to fit the story however you wish!

after jaebin agreed, jackson trained him by taking him around the world to many dungeons until he reached jackson's own level, and then they started to try to find out more about dark river. as he's traumatized by what happened to yulong, jackson refuses to join a guild, and over time has grown used to trusting jaebin with his back. however, he was also the one to convince jaebin to join miracle guild, as he realized this was an opportunity to find out more about dark river.

god only knows: based on the result of one card drawn randomly from his deck, buffs party's atk by that multiplier; can be stacked as many times as he draws (aka once each round) by way of addition (ex. Q + 10 = 22) until all cards have been drawn (max buff: 364); notably, each joker automatically brings down the buff by 1/4 (so if he draws both jokers in one game, the buff he got before will be halved)
faraday's field day: sets down a field to debuff opposing party's atk by 36% for 5 rounds; cooldown of 5 rounds as well and can only use once per dungeon
silvertongue: passive ability; the chance of something happening goes up by 0.1% if he says 'i predict that [thing] will happen' or whatever variation (the sentence just needs to include the words 'i predict'). can include specific conditions like time, place, etc but each modifier takes half of the chance away. ex. 'i predict that [thing] will happen on [day] at [time]' has two modifiers, so that's 0.1%*(1/2)^2 power, so the chances of said thing happening would only be 1/4 the chance of the thing happening without the modifiers.
come all ye loyal: his cooking can heal you by 2-20% of your max HP depending on how much time it took for him to cook the specific dish; also it can buff your lowest stat by exactly 100 points for 24 hours
okay again, i didn't know if this was too OP or not so if there's anything i should change pls lmk. and i also think he knows how to use other weapons (like a handgun), but he's very dependent on his card deck and the buff/debuff abilities that he just doesn't really bother to pull out the other weapons until it really matters.

so idrk if i want him to have a love interest. i'm open to collabs, so if anyone does collab with me, i'll let you know, but anything regarding love interests is up in the air for now, since in general i think he's too focused on revenge to have any spare emotions LOL.

hihihi it's me. i really like this idea and i hope to see more applicants soon! but again, i think i've mentioned this several times in the app, i wasn't sure if his abilities/stats were okay or not, so once again, lmk if there's anything i need to change!!
