Archie / Her friends back home call her this since she is an architect. Usually only used when they are joking around or she's being self-deprecating about her achievements

Since 2018, she has dyed the underlayer of her hair to match the color that Bang Chan's hair is for each released album/music video (so her hair has been blonde, silver, red, blue, silver-green, orange, and pink). The dyed part can only be seen if she pulls her hair back but pieces of color will show near her ears. Her skin is light tan and she has hazel eyes. Her legs are slightly longer than her torso, giving off the appearance that she is taller than she actually is. She has both of her ears pierced and a small tattoo on her left side of a kangaroo.

Style.

During work hours, Mari wears suits - blazers and pencil skirts when meeting with clients, blazers and pants when working in the office. Her color palette is usually neutral colors of gray, black, navy blue, and burgandy. She wears matching heels or flats depending on the day. When she's not at work, she lets herself relax a little bit. Her comfortable outfits consist of jeans and band t-shirts, themed shirts, or hoodies. She likes wearing plaid jackets during the colder months. Her hair is usually pulled back and accented with a headband. When she works out, she usually wears boyish tank tops with shorts and sneakers.

Traits.

Positive: Protective, Accepting, Hard Worker, Kind
Neutral: Impulsive, Competitive

    Personality.

"Not while I'm around" Mari is very protective of her friends and family. Her parents taught her to cherish the people she loves and protect those that she can. She will stand up for and fight for her friends if need be. She has always had the mindset that the people in your life are more important than the things. Protecting those she cares about is second nature and she does it without need or want of a reward for it. Even through a phone or long distance, she does her best to support and protect those she cares about.

"You're unique. What's so wrong about that?" Mari takes the world in stride and accepts people for who they are without reservation. She embraces the differences in people because she truly believes it is the strange things about a person that makes them who they are. She draws inspiration from people for her work as an architect and tries to imagine what would suit the person she is designing for. She does have a habit of being informal around people, which can make some people angry.

"I can handle it, don't worry!" Since childhood, she has always been one of those people that works hard at whatever she does. Putting her full concentration and effort into whatever task she is given, she always does her best and to the fullest of her abilities. She takes pride in her work and hopes her family and friends are proud of what she's done.

"I'm right here, no matter what" She loves to listen to people talk about themselves and their lives and offfers her ears, mind, shoulder, and advice when she notices something is upsetting her friends, family, or even that lonely person at the bus stop. Mari gives really good advice and is able to put herself into the shoes of the other person and figure out a way to help. She's listened to her friends go on rants, just to get it out of their systems, before smiling, giving them a hug, and then dragging them out into the world to cheer them up. She encourages her friends to pursue what they love, always being there to be the first to listen to a new song, see a record broken, or encourage them in their goals.

"It's the perfect day to avoid homework" Mari is the type of person who, if the situation allows it, will act on her childish impulses like running through a flock of seagulls to make them fly away. She's always been a little impulsive, especially when she was younger, always running off after school to hang out with Chan or dragging Felix with her to get ice cream. If she stayed out too late, her parents would always worry...until they called Chan's parents only to hear that, yes, Mari was at their house hanging out with Chan. When she was very young, her running off always gave her parents a fright. She tends to act before she thinks but is trying her best to learn to bite her tongue.

"You sure about that? Give me your best shot" With a taekwondo instructor for a dad and a love of academics, Mari was always in competition with something. She loves it and thinks that it helps her grow as a person; however, if she gets too much into the competition, she forgets that it isn't always fun for other people. It helped her reach the academic level she needed to get into the University of Sydney but it put a slight damper on her ability to work in a team. When she was younger, her and Chan were always in competition when it came to swimming.

"I can do it myself!" She doesn't give up on things even when they seem to be hopeless and, though may times it doesn't work, those few times that she manages to complete the task, she feels an extreme sense of pride and tends to rub it in with a snarky, off-handed comment. This stubborn attitude can sometimes cause problems with the people around her. It also takes her a long time to admit she was wrong about something.

"Of course! No problem at all!" Pairing her hard work with her competitive nature and eldest sibling complex, she is a people pleaser to the extreme. She has a hard time saying no to anything and will drain herself helping other people. She tells herself its worth it because it makes the other person happy but it causes her to burn out very easily. She is quick to say no problem, even if the thing she was asked was the biggest inconvenience.

"You're just saying that..." With her affinity for academics and gravitation to have more boy friends than girl friends, she dealt with her fair share of bullying growing up. She has the mom-friend override with her friends, siblings, and children but it doesn't work for her own mind. She only got the hang of make-up when she entered the professional world. She has a very difficult time taking compliments or praise because she doesn't believe she deserves them. In the same way, she finds it hard to believe that someone would fall in love with her.

Background.

Her parents met when they were both students at the Unvirsity of Sydney. Woobin was studying sports therapy and Hawon was studying interior design. They ended up at the same swimming club and hit it off almost immediately. Hawon would roll her eyes at Woobin's childish nature and boyish flirting but she loved every minute of it. After school, the two of them quickly got married and settled down in Sydney before having Mari. When Mari was four, Chaerin was born. The four of them were very close and would often go on day trips together if work allowed.

Mari took after her mother, at least that's what her father said to her mother's chiding, in her studies. Woobin was always proud that his wife was smarter than he was. Though she took after her mother, she was always her dad's little girl. She would follow him to his gym to practice taekwondo when she was little and he took her to the swimming club every day in the summer. She met Bang Chan at the swimming club when she was six. [See Love Story for more info]

When she entered high school, she focused more on her studies and taekwondo than swimming as she found it hard to enjoy it as much without her swimming partner. She would go with her father when he travelled to competitions to help with equipment. She met Felix when she was sixteen and he was 12 at one of these competitions. They became fast friends, much to his annoyance, and she hung out with him and his older sister all the time until she went off to school at the University of Sydney for architecture as she enjoyed the math mixed with design.

Graduating in 2019, she accepted a position at Gansam's Seoul office and moved there almost immediately after graduation. She lives in a condo that overlooks the river near her work.

Dad / Kwon Woobin [Gong Yoo] / 48 / Taekwondo Instructor / Childish, Doting, Stubborn / Mari is a daddy's girl and he loves to dote on her and her sister. The two of them get along usually but sometimes heads when he acts too childish and she gets annoyed with him. He taught her Taekwondo and, even though she wasn't great at it, that was how she met Felix.
Mom / Kim Hawon [Jun Jihyun] / 47 / Interior Designer / Creative, Hard Worker, Gentle / Mari and her mother get along as well as most elder daughters and mothers do. They are very similar in their career paths and the way they approach problems, leading them to gang up on her father a lot which just makes him smile. They keep in touch regarding current trends in design and architecture.
Little Sister / Chelsea Kwon Chaerin [Tzuyu: Twice] / 22 / Student - Education / Prankster, Caring, Outgoing / When they were younger, Chaerin followed Mari around everywhere and would always imitate her to the point that Mari would get annoyed. Once they got older, Chaerin became more outgoing than her elder sister, though she still loved to play pranks on her.

Little Joey / Lee Felix / 22 / Idol - Stray Kids / Awkward, Middle-Child Syndrome, Athletic / Mari and Felix met during a Taekwondo tournament in Sydney during the down time between matches. She had gone with her father to help with the equipment. She started talking to him when they met in a hallway and they realized they lived pretty close and had a lot of similar interests. Over the years, they got closer and her, Felix and his older sister would hang out together which consisted of his sister dragging him out to get food with them. She was in university when Felix left for Korea. They keep in touch with texts or calls maybe once a week.

[lil bro] Chris beat me at Uno yesterday. I had to draw 12 cards at once!

[mari] when did they add draw 12 cards?

[lil bro] nah not one card he kept adding onto my draw two and draw four until I ran out of cards to play

[mari] I'm pretty sure that's against the rules...

[lil bro] ...

[lil bro] I'll call you later, I have to go beat up hyung

[mari] don't hurt him too bad

[mari] felix...?

[mari] I shouldn't have told you that

That Psycho Shiela / Ki Hwiae [Heejin: Loona] / 23 / Stewardess / Optimistic, Dramatic / She doesn't know Hwiae well at first, just general information that Bang Chan and Felix know about her from Han. Once they started chatting in the chatroom, Mari found it hilarioius how much Hwiae enjoyed horror movies. Being someone who can't watch a horror movie alone and never in the dark, she frequently tells her how brave she is. Mari also enjoys asking her about all the places she has gone to with her stewardess job.

[mari] Where have you been recently?

[mari] Did you see any cool buildings while you were travelling?

[mari] Having a bad day at work, could use a shot of your optimism if you've got the time.

[mari] I know you've been travelling a lot recently so make sure you eat and get proper rest. We'll find time to grab bubble tea when you get home.

Odd Sunbae / Lee Kibum [Chansung: 2PM] / 28 / Architect / Flirty, Intelligent, Protective / Kibum had been working at her architecture firm for a few years before she started. After about six months, he started to flirt with her and ask her out after work. Mari always brushed him off and, though he would teasingly keep asking her out, he gave up after he noticed a shift in her attitude a few months after the COVID protocols hit Korea. He tends to shield her at work from inappropriate comments and looks from the older men at their office and clients. He originally put his name in her phone as "Kibum :)" but when she deleted it he changed it to "Kibum <3" and when she deleted it again he changed it to "Oppa <3". She hasn't changed it as she is afraid of what he might change it to again.

Name. Bang Chan

Backup. Hwang Hyunjin

Nicknames. Channie, Chris, Topher, Pabo, Dork

Personality.

Chan is someone who lives and breathes music. He's always taken pride in his musicality and thoroughly enjoys creating new music, writing lyrics, and producing music. He loves the confidence being on stage gives him and thrives off of the energy from his fans and his groupmates. He works hard to do his best to the point of overwork but always wears a smile no matter what.

Off-stage, he's awkward, shy and a complete older brother. He takes care of his group mates as if they were his little siblings and always puts them ahead of himself. He always knows what to say to cheer someone up but at the same time, isn't the best at taking care of himself. He isn't the best at expressing negative emotions and shoves them down when he's with others, trying not to let anyone worry about him. To everyone around him, he is the perfect friend but he tends to keep to himself things of importance to keep from being hurt. He has lingering insecurities from having been a trainee for so long and watching so many other people debut before him.

When he is alone with someone he cares about, he is very shy and giggly at first because he feels awkward being alone and is afraid that his feelings will be noticed immediately. He is very clingy and needs validation that the person cares about him as well. Once he is comfortable enough, he struggles to keep a secret how much he cares and if he truly believes the other person feels the same, it is impossible for him to keep a smile off of his face because he is so unbelievably happy.

Love Story.

Mari and Chris met at his dad's swimming club when they were six years old. They were in the same swimming class and hit it off as they were both very competitive. The first thing that happened in their relationship was a speed swimming contest...that Mari had to admit defeat in. From that point on, the two of them were thick as thieves. Even over the times that Chris moved, they managed to keep up with each other and hang out at the swim club. When they were about 9, she started going over to his house to hang out in his room when they weren't swimming. She enjoyed listening to him play guitar, piano and singing. She would mess around on his guitar while he wrote music and they would sing new music together. She supported him wholeheartedly with his passion for music and helped him practice for the audition when they were pre-teens. By the time they were eleven, they were each other's best friends. She was at his house more than she was at her own most days.

The day of the JYP audition, Mari watched the clock at school and ran to the location as soon as the bell rang. She made it just in time to wish him luck before the audition. Waiting with his family, she squeezed her hands together and thanked God that she had seen a falling star the night before to wish on. When Chris walked out, he kept his head down so they all thought the worst but when he lifted his head and had a huge smile on his face, she couldn't help but run up and hug him. She called her parents who also congratulated him over the phone. Following the audition, she went back to hang out with him at his house as he packed.

"So when do you leave?"

"At the end of this week."
"That soon?"

She was surprised at how quickly he was going to be gone, across an ocean to somewhere they had only visited family in before. Sitting on his bed, she leaned looked at his half packed bag and felt her eyes tear up. He sat down beside her and put an arm around her shoulder.

"Hey...no matter what, we'll still be best mates."

"Promise?"

"Promise."

She forced him to pinky promise before hugging him tightly. She moved to kiss him on the cheek but he just happened to move his head at the same time and suddenly they were kissing. They both pulled away quickly before covering their mouths. Sitting in silence for a few seconds, they both looked up at the same time and he leaned over and kissed her softly before pulling away and pulling her into a hug. By the end of the week, he was on a plane to Korea.

[mari] I'm so excited for you, you are going to do great in Korea!

[topher] thanks, Max! I'll let you know when I land.

[mari] I'll be waiting for the text! or call if you aren't too tired

[mari] miss you already!

[topher] don't get too cheesy on me now

The two of them managed to keep in contact for the first year or so that he was in Korea. She sent him messages of encouragement and excitement for his debut but over time, his responses got slower and slower until he stopped responding altogether. She knew that he was getting her messages so she kept sending them. He felt terrible that he apparently wasn't good enough to debut and felt that he had let her down somehow with how much she had always encouraged him. He put every spare minute into bettering himself and hoping for a debut soon and every time he got a text message from her he felt worse and worse that he hadn't debuted and worse and worse that he couldn't respond to her honestly about how he was feeling. Deep down, he knew that she didn't care but he still felt shame that he was taking so long to debut.

[mari] I can't wait to see what kind of group you'll debut in! Don't worry I'll be first in line to buy all the merch.

[topher] yeah it'll be interesting to see what kind of people I get matched up with

[mari] you'll do great! I know you will! I'm so excited for your debut

[topher has read the text]

[mari] how was your day? are you working on music or dancing today? Chaerin decided that she's going to be your biggest fan but I told her she can only be your second biggest because obviously I'm going to be your biggest fan.

[topher has read the text]

[mari] it's not my fault if I laugh if they decide your group needs to debut with a y concept

[topher has read the text]

[mari] are you scaring the new trainees yet?

[topher has read the text]

[mari] I know it's taking awhile but you are going to blow them out of the water when you finally debut

[topher has read the text]

[mari] make sure you eat today and don't overwork yourself. make sure to sleep  early so you can be well rested.

[topher has read the text]

[mari] I wished on a falling star tonight for you. i hope it reaches you

[topher has read the text]

[mari] I miss you...

She sent him text messages almost daily until her second year of university when her classes got too much to handle (2016-2017). During exams, her sister told her that Chris was in a survival show for his company and Mari made her record all of the episodes so that she could binge watch them when she was home for the holidays. As soon as she sat down to watch, she couldn't take her eyes off of him. He wasn't the same Chris that had left Sydney seven years before. He was going by Bang Chan now and, although his music skills, dancing, and his ability to take care of others had improved significantly, she could tell his confidence had taken a hit. As soon as she finished watching, she wanted to text him...but she saw that he still hadn't responded to the dozens of texts she had sent him before. She put her phone away and kept her head down in her studies. But she kept her promise...she purchased all the merch, listened to all his music, and watched all the music videos as they came out. She even went as far as dying the underlayer of her hair to match his. Even if he had forgotten their promise, she wouldn't.

In 2019, she moved to Seoul after getting a position at Gansam. She was excited to finally be able to live her dream of being an architect in South Korea. She kept up with all of his music as well as being able to follow her own dream. Every once in awhile, she would look at all of the texts she sent him before putting her phone away again and getting back to work.

In 2020, a few months after COVID protocols hit, Chan released "I Hate To Admit". Having been keeping up with all his music, she listened to the song the day that it was released. As soon as the lyrics started, her heart stopped. The words were everything she had felt when he stopped responding to her...she had thought it was only her who had been missing him. After listening to the song about a hundred times, she finally pulled out her phone and texted him.

[mari] it takes two people to keeep a promise

[mari] but I don't blame you and I understand why

[topher] I know...I'm sorry...I wish we could've had this conversation instead of me cowardly writing a song instead

[topher] I miss you

[topher] I never forgot our promise...I was just...too ashamed to tell you I was still a trainee

After that day, they kept in regular contact through text, phone call and video call at least once a week if not more often if they were able to. Once protocols relaxed a little, they were able to arrange a meeting in secret to see each other again. It was difficult since he was in the spotlight now but they managed to meet up out of the eyes of the paparazzi. As soon as they saw each other again, it was as if all the time that had passed was forgotten. Though this time, there was an undercurrent of feelings that refused to speak out loud.

"Well look at you mister superstar"

"Oh stop that, you know it's all the kids hard work that got me this far"

"And all your hard work, Topher."

"Woah...haven't heard that nickname in awhile."

"Well I should hope so, I'm the only one that ever called you that. Oh! Do you like my new underlayer hair color? I think red looks pretty good on me"

"Did you...did you match my hair color?"

"Been doing it since you debuted, dork"

During one of their meetups, Mari got a phone call from Kibum about something regarding a client at work. Chan saw that the contact name said "Oppa <3" and his heart sank. Of course she had someone, he hadn't spoken to her in almost ten years. He did enjoy hearing her go on about her work. It was so different than his own and he could tell that she was good at what she did. But hearing her laugh with some guy who wasn't him, that he didn't know, made his heart burn a little with jealousy. The jealousy hit a peak when he heard the guy on the other end of the line call her "Maxie". He didn't see her roll her eyes as she hung up as he slammed his palm against the wall beside her head and looked down at her. She took a moment to calm the blush that was threatening to rage across her face before looking at his arm and then back to him.

"Did you just kabedon me?"

He was silent for a moment before he took his hand away and started laughing and rubbing the back of his neck embarrassed. She couldn't help but laugh as well and just like that all the tension was broken and the undercurrent feelings that were there before became stronger.

"Who's oppa?"

"Ugh don't call him that. He's my sunbae at work. He used to have a normal name in my phone but he kept taking it and changing it every time I deleted the emojis so now I'm scared to see what he will put next."

"What's my name in your phone?"

"Topher. I haven't changed it. Please don't tell me you want me to add emojis..."

"No but you do need an updated picture"

This is how their relationship has been since they reconnected. They aren't able to see each other too often because of their busy schedules but they always try to call or text during the day and every once in awhile, they'll fall asleep on video chat together.

Status. Crushing since 2010; awkward flirting since May 2020

Future. At some point, Chan will finally get up the guts to ask her out but for him he has to build up his confidence and get past his insecurities. Felix is just waiting until he can actually tease the two of them about dating.

Trivia.

- Chan has a folder saved on his computer of video recordings of the first time he does covers of songs. He labels them with dates, titles, and saves them in the folder he's labeled "For Noona". He's been doing this since he became a trainee.

- Felix teases them both endlessly and finds it hilarious that his noona and his hyung knew each other before he met either of them.

- She will sneak into his lives and send him cheesy pick up lines through the comments to make him smile.

- Mari always texts him good night and good morning now that they are speaking again. He always texts her to remind her to drink water in the afternoon if he is able to.

- Chan hopes that one day they'll be able to sing together like they did when they were kids.

- Mari didn't tell him but she brought his old acoustic guitar with her when she moved to Korea and keeps it in her condo.

- Mari prefers when Chan's hair is curly because it reminds her of when they were kids.

- Although they haven't been able to sing in person together, they have sung along to songs on video chat together. One of their favorites is Rewrite the Stars because it's a fun duet.

- Chan makes a lot of vague comments in his lives and on his social media that relate to the two of them.

- When Chan is stressed, he will text her to sing him a song and she'll send him an audio recording of one of the songs they used to sing together as kids.

- Chan has laughed and hugged her when he has seen her crying over his live performances to which she responds that she is overwhelmingly happy that her best friend finally made his dream come true.

- Her ringtone for him is a wolf howl and his ringtone for her is a digiridoo.

Comments/questions. I hope you like her! I know in the guidelines you say you like simple but once i get started on a character I have a hard time reigning it in. I also hope you like their love story, I had a lot of fun writing it. I promise this is relatively short compared to my normal applications hahahaha looking forward to hearing your feedback on her!

Suggestions. Any kind of pranking the boys; playful arguing about which of the boys did the best in the newest music video; ganging up on the boys in their lives; chatting about places to travel; meeting up to get bubble tea or coffee; MOVIE NIGHTS THAT THE BOYS ARE JEALOUS OF

Hi~ If you know you know. I'm lazy to search for a review layout. Lol. Here your review~
There completely nothing wrong or need to change. Perfect. She is accepted. If there no one aiming for Chan, Mari will be added once 23rd pass.
Now let me write more for fun.
Aw~ I got the leader, oldest after the maknae. Me loving this so much. Jihyo as face claim killed me. She does looks good with Chan. Everyone be like childhood friend. Not like I'm hating it.
Although relationship with family and friends won't much appear in this story, it can create some conflict and such later on.
Lowkey asking what that psycho shiela mean?
The love story. Such a great essay. Lol. Not really essay. But me loving it. Those kabedon. Makes me remember that one. When stay asked Chan to push stay to the wall. OwO. Me loving this.
Okay. Let stop here. Thanks for applying~
