BIRTHPLACE Seoul, South Korea
NATIONALITY South Korean

APPEARANCE AND STYLE

Eunju is pretty, in a cute and lovable way. She was chubby as a kid, so she never got praised for her looks. But as a teen, she ended up doing a lot physically to look after her sister, that combined with not eating enough due to lack of food led her to losing a dramatic amount of weight in her teenage years.

Eunju doesn't have a "style" when she was a kid she'd just wear whatever her mother got for her. As she became a teen she didn't have the time or money to care. She'd just focus on looking decent.

Self-perception

If someone asked Eunju to describe herself, she'd probably use the words normal and average. Eunju doesn't see that as a positive or negative, just a fact. She's never been special or unique, She's never seen herself as the protagonist of her life.
People like her, but they never love her. She's the person you liked at the moment, but you forget you knew.

She fades into the background because she's not outstanding in a good or a bad way, she's simply average.

When watching movies or shows she's always identified with the best friend or sidekick. She's never seen herself as someone who would get to have the happy ending. Her image of the future was getting by on a minimum wage job.

Social

Eunju has always had a large circle of casual friends, but in her teen years hasn't had the time and emotional capacity for any close friends.

She's cute, bubbly, and funny around others. But she's rarely able to truly relax and have fun. Eunju is strategic she knows life isn't fair, and sometimes you have to play the game to survive. She learned early on in life that being cute and likeable helps her get away with things,  playing up an innocent aegyo persona.

It is a real part of her personality, she's not totally faking it. Maybe in another life, if things were easier she wouldn't utilise that to manipulate people.

Eunju wouldn't really consider herself to be a leader,  but she is nurturing and remains calm under pressure. So sometimes if no one else is acting as a leader she'll fall into that role.

Eunju comes across as the kind mediator in a tense situation, people probably wouldn't realise the judgments of others she has in her head. But she is critical of her judgments.

Honesty

Eunju can be quite judgmental of those she sees as spoilt and privileged. She sometimes make assumptions about people that are incorrect but she generally keeps these thoughts to herself. She doesn't see the point in being honest about unnecessary things.

Eunju would rather bite her tongue and keep the peace, until she feels something has to be addressed. She's not afraid of conflict, she just would prefer to try another more congenial route first.

She won't keep quiet on issues she feels passionate about if she sees no other way.  She doesn't consider her own feelings a part of that. Her feelings are a nuisance, their selfish and a petty mess, other things are more important.

She's quite a realistic person but would always put on an optimistic front for her sister and mother. Feeling the need to smile and add some joy, even if she wasn't  actually feeling happy.

Values & self-worth

Eunju needs something to live for, and for her, it's her family. She'll always put them first in her life not second to anything, no not even to being an idol.

Eunju is hard-working to a fault, it's in her character, though she hasn't had that much of a choice. She couldn't put up her feet and relax, there was never time for that.  She doesn't know who she is beyond the work she can do for others. It's her entire identity, she has barely any interests or hobbies.

BACKGROUND

Eunju was the first born to parents who were lower middle class. When she was thirteen her father had fallen into a gambling addiction, sending her family into poverty. Ashamed he ran away from his responsibilities, leaving Eunju and her mother to pick up the pieces.

Her mother had to take on multiple jobs, and Eunju began to take on the care of her six-year-old younger sister Eui.

She tried to manage school while looking after her sister and later got a part-time job at a supermarket when she was old enough.

She was a C student perfectly average. She wasn't able to hang out with friends outside of school, so her social circle became shallow. Eunju was trying to keep sane, she couldn't have teen angst on top of everything else. She learnt quickly to smile, and be nice. Avoid pointless drama, and everything would be fine. Eunju isn't one to reach out for help from others as she believes she should be able to handle it herself.

Eunju has shoplifted a bit, but mainly as a way to cheer up her sister by stealing toys, things they couldn't afford when just trying to stay alive. She'd hide how she had gotten them from her mother and sister. At times she had almost been caught but was able to talk her way out of it.

♡♡♡♡♡

Her family have always been committed Christians, particularly her mother, when Eunju's dad left their church was a great support for her.  Eunju has had mostly positive experiences in the religion. But she doesn't have the blind faith her mother does, she couldn't understand if God was really out there and loves them, why won't he do more to help them?

She's happy it brings comfort to her mum, so when she started to notice her attraction to women she was terrified. She knows her mum would never stop loving her, but she would be disappointed in her and worried for her. And Eunju can't put any more pain or stress on her mother.

So, she just prays one day a guy makes her heart flutter the way pretty girls do, because she'd rather stay single forever than hurt her mother.

 ♡ PARK JOO / Mother / 45 / Kind, Selfless, Hard-working, Practical  ♡

Eunju was closer to her father before everything fell apart, but she has  always had a positive relationship with her mother as well.

Now after seeing what her mother had to take on after her dad left, she would do anything for her.

Her mother always seems strong and kind. Eunju witnessed all the sacrifices she had to make for her and her sister.

Her mother has been so busy to the point that Eunju hasn't been able to spend much time with her. Eunju's biggest desire is to truly make her  mum proud, and be able to take the burdens she's had to carry off her shoulders.

♡ PARK KYUNG / Father / 50 / Friendly, Warm, Loving, Fun, Selfish, Coward (Type Seven)    ♡

Once upon a time, Eunju was a daddy's girl... After he spent all their savings and ran away from shame, Eunju has had conflicted feelings.

She hasn't even seen him since she was 13, so she feels betrayed and abandoned. She resents him, she's angry, but deep down she still loves him.

♡ PARK EUI / Sister / 13 / Creative,  Senstive, Imaginative, Deep-thinking (INFP, TYPE 4)   ♡

Arguably Eunju has somewhat raised Eui, caring for her while their mum worked.  She remembers cuddling in the same bed holding Eui when she would wake up from nightmares.

Eui is more creative and imaginative than Eunju, who has always been down to earth and realistic. Eui is shyer than her older sister but can have closer connections and be vulnerable easier.

Eunju always thought that Eui was the special one. Being a talented artist, she thought she'd be the supporting role for her sister to achieve great things, and she was happy to do that.

Though Eunju is focused on becoming an idol she still makes time for Eui and they are still very close.

Sometimes Eunju can be overprotective and smother Eui, and forget she is becoming independent.

PLOTLINE  The Unpredictable
POSITION  Lead Vocalist
TALENT TWINS Loona's Choerry
She has pretty vocals, can manage simple idol raps, and is a decent dancer.  But dealing with fatigue has led her to look like a weak dancer with no stamina. She also had pretty solid facial expressions before her health declined.
TRAINEE YEARS  Seven months

TRAINEE LIFE

When Eunju was a kid she loved K-pop she danced and sang and learnt all the songs, she was a stan. She had to put that to the side to focus on holding her family together. She'd still dance and sing when she had free time, but there wasn't much of that. K-pop is one of the only hobbies she's ever really had.

One day when Eunju was out at the mall, an MMC scout came up to her with a card to contact much to her shock. It was surreal she had no clue what made them notice her? She hadn't plan to audition, knowing that she'd have to put aside her family to truly focus on it, which isn't something she was willing to do.
She was aware it could also be a shot out of poverty, but that was a gamble, and Eunju had not had the best experience with gambling.

Eunju had thrown the card into her bedside drawer, not planning to look at it again. But one day Eui found it when looking for a pen, she confronted Eunju about it and was horrified to hear she wasn't even going to give it a shot. She knew Eunju loved K-pop and told her sister she had to at least audition. Eui reminded her she was 13 and she could handle herself now.

Eunju reluctantly decided to audition thinking she wouldn't get through and it would get Eui off her back. Much to her shock, she was accepted. She wasn't sure what to do, but Eui could tell she wanted to give it a try and told her she'd never forgive her if she didn't put herself first for once.

Eunju began thinking if she could actually debut from MMC it  really could save her family from poverty. And maybe, just maybe, it would be worth the gamble. Eunju still felt guilty about it, not wanting her sister to grow up fast as she did,  so Eunju tries to still hold as much responsibility as she can manage.

She quit her part-time job. Even though it was stretching her thin, Eunju couldn't drop out of school she knew debuting was a one-in-a-million chance and so she needed to at least graduate high school.

Though Eunju wasn't the prettiest, the best dancer or vocalist. She started gaining the attention of the MMC higher-ups due to her work ethic and being able to work well in teams. As well as perfectly fitting the "cute" idol persona.

Eunju knew they were preparing to debut a girl group, but she didn't expect to be put in a lineup due to her limited training time. However, pretty last minute she was added to the lineup. Much to the anger of trainees who had been there much longer than her.

Eunju herself didn't understand it, but she thought just maybe luck was finally on her side? When she told her mum she began crying thinking it was a gift from god. And Eui said she told her so.

♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡

The beginning of an idol...

♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡

The music video had been shot, everything was ready to go. Soon Eunju would debut, it was a whirlwind, finally, she felt like she was getting given good things.

And then she caught Covid, she thought she'd be able to rest and then recover like most people. But life decided to be cruel once again, Eunju never really recovered.

People around her were getting better while she was still dealing with symptoms.
She felt her energy drag down to the dirt, suddenly rather than being the hardest worker she began falling behind, unable to keep up with her members.

MMC was regretting her addition to the group. Intending for her to be a rock due to her work ethic and being a team player, a buffer for the group.

Those strengths fell away, she was too tired to properly pull off the choreography. As well as becoming testy and short-tempered around people, due to her fatigue causing a lack of social capacity. Which also ruined her potential to be strong in variety like MMC thought she would be.

But it was too late now, they had already invested too much into their debut.

So Eunju took the stage with her members. And the next day she was already known as the lazy member, the member shortcutting choreography. The pointless member. People couldn't understand the point of her, which got even worse when people found out about her short training time. Was she a Chaebol? A nepotism baby?

Or just a last-minute filler member because MMC wanted a 6 member lineup?

Eunju has always had a strong mentality, but having the whole world see her as a lazy privileged brat began tearing her apart. She even began getting flack for being out of it during variety shows too.

She's always tied her self-worth to the work she can do for others, having that taken away from her makes her lose identity and direction.  Who even is she anymore without that?

Once again life had decided to tear her apart. Why can't things ever go well for her?

LOVE INTEREST NAME  Mion / Min Seojin
FACECLAIM NMIXX's Jinni
BIRTHDATE 27/10/02

PERSONALITY  Arrogant // proud // ice princess // insecure // direct // impulsive // competitive // high-strung // lonely // petty // obedient // secretly empathetic

LOVE STORY

Seojin and Eunju are two sides of the same coin, Seojin is an ice princess with an empathetic heart. Eunju is a cute bubbly girl, with a hard interior.

♡ Butting heads to friends to lovers

When Eunju first joined MMC she noticed Seojin right away, how could she not? She's beautiful, and Eunju loves beautiful girls. It was obvious she was the favourite and a shoo-in for a debut. She could understand why, however, Eunju only really saw Seojin from afar. Both of them busy focusing on their  own skills and performance, never being trained in the same groups or teams. Eunju doubts Seojin even realised she existed before she was put in the debut lineup.

Eunju tried to be friendly to all her members, knowing she'd hopefully be stuck with them for years. But tension began arising due to MMC pushing Seojin into the leadership role which she felt pressured by, and Eunju unintentionally acting like a leader at times.

Seojin's favouritism started to grate on Eunju, it felt like everything had been handed to her. That she was born lucky when Eunju had to fight to even survive. She understood MMC pushing her, but giving her the positions of main vocalist, lead dancer, center and leader? Really?

Eunju felt a bit resentful about the fact the group seemed to only exist for Seojin, but Eunju grit her teeth and bared it. Aware it was petty, and if they were going to manage as a group they needed decent team chemistry.

But despite her resentment, Eunju's heart would flutter when Seojin smiled. Because Eunju loves pretty girls.

♡♡♡♡♡

Eunju has a crush on Seojin from the beginning, but the resentment she develops  makes her feelings more confusing. Eunju has a lot of false and incorrect judgments about Seojin.

Over time I do want them to develop a friendship (Maybe Seojin is the one who is there for Eunju when her health declines?) and Eunju's feelings slowly develop from a crush to real love. (I'm a hoe for slow burn).

Maybe they can bond over having a kind of similar background? (Fun fact that wasn't intentional, I came up with her backstory before I read through Seojin's background.)

I'm fine with it being unrequited, but I do think they would be a really cute and interesting couple. They probably wouldn't have a simple relationship, but they're almost like foils to each other so it could be interesting. I would have included more about how a relationship between them would pan out, but since Seojin is your character I'd rather have Input from you.

LILYSATURN / LILY / 8/10

COMMENTS I'm pretty nervous to submit her because I know I was pretty intense about Haeun and Fen but I've changed I promise hfurhfur4h4di. I loved the idea of this story as I'm a er for flawed characters, so I just had to! I hope you like her~

♡

I hope you were able to understand her personality as she's kind of a jumble of contradictions and I hope that wasn't too confusing! Feel free to ask if you need any clarifications.

I ended up using a bit of the trainee section as the start of her debut which I hope is okay? Eunju has gotten Long Covid, particularly chronic fatigue. As someone with a different disability that includes fatigue, I wanted to make a character that had to deal with that, and I feel long Covid makes a lot of sense. If you don't feel comfortable writing this or if it messes with some story arcs you had in mind, I don't mind if you exclude it.

I was thinking her chronic fatigue would make it hard for her to manage an idol lifestyle but she could manage a more laid-back life. (Which wouldn't be an option for her regardless due to poverty.) So she isn't bed-bound or house-bound (Unlike myself lmaooo). But she might have bad days where just getting out of bed is hard too.

I did combine a few different ideas I had for characters into one.

Someone who sees themselves as average/normal as a side character/supporting role. I know that's not true but I think that is how Eunju sees it, up until she gets into MMC, and she somewhat still keeps that mentality despite everything.

The useless/filler member + lazy dancing

The filler member or useless member is often thrown around in kpop so I kind of wanted to make a girl that is seen as that by others. And then of course Jennie's lazy scandal, and more recently wonyoung's.

The idea of an idol dealing with chronic health issues and having to live with a disability, and getting called lazy is something I've thought about.

I don't know if MMC would be the type of company to release a statement explaining the Long Covid thing, but honestly knowing kpop fans, some would probably claim it's just an excuse. I  could see her developing a cult-like fan base in response to the hate she gets tho.

Lastly, I did include some uality angst, I understand if the poverty/disability/uality might be a bit much and hope it didn't cross over to sadness p*rn. Eunju is someone who's starting to become desensitised to negative emotions, and kind of lives life robotically due to having to manage it all. Life isn't kind to some, and she's one of those people. In general, it all ties back to her fear of disappointing her mum and sister, regarding her work ethic and uality.

SCENE REQUESTS Eunju realising she misjudged Seojin and feeling like a because of it.

B-SIDE REQUESTS  I put a bunch of songs lol, but idc if you use them or not. I just think their good! I don't really know what concept SOL AI is gonna have.
