Personality. 

 Being pushed into a very specific role by Y.I ent many fans were misled when it came to Hana's personality. Playing the part of the perfect ideal type being so far from who she really is.

 

It's true Hana is quiet, but not in a demure house-wife kind of way. The world is like a puzzle for Hana and she keeps her lips shut in hopes to solve it. Being extremely bright in both book smarts and street smarts, it gives her a head start in many things. And she's certainly not afraid to step on people and manipulate them when she thinks it's needed. But due to her tendency to overthink and her general cynicism it can lead her to be reclusive and unlikable. 

 

That being said, Hana is not mean. She just thinks that respect and kindness should be earned and not freely given. And once you earn that, she'll stay by your side ride or die.

 

Hana can be a bit of a hypocrite, being willing to hurt people but being hypersensitive herself. Her sensitive side is not something she likes and something she hides from all, except those closest to her. 

 

Hana thinks in a creative way, that can be hard for people to understand, along with very odd taste in somethings.

 

 

 

Background.

 Hana is the only child of a wealthy couple. Her parents both work full time, and probably didn’t keep a close enough eye on their daughter though they still love her very much. Hana has always been ambitious, excelling in school and always searching for new hobbies to learn. It was her love for singing that led her to become an idol. She competed in a Seoul singing competition for kids, she didn’t rank particularly well as her vocals were nothing special, but she piqued the interest of someone from Y.I entertainment for her visuals and star quality. Her parents were a little cautious due to Y.I having no previous artists, but in the end they thought it would at least help Hana grow in the skills she wanted to develop.

 

Hana's parents are politically and socially conservative, and believe in holding yourself with a certain manor. Because of this for most of her teenage years Hana was quite conservative herself and could come across as stuck up. She has changed since then and has devolped  her own identity.

 

Hana is now very progressive politically, to a point a lot of Koreans would label as "extreme".

Trainee and Idol Life.
  Hana has always had looks and star quality, but singing and dancing weren’t natural gifts for her.  But after becoming a trainee for Y.I entertainment she decided to focus all her energy into becoming a skilled idol. Hana as a young kid was social and well-rounded, but that part of her got lost in the ambition to be an idol. Her hours were spent on nothing else besides training, loosing friends and her own identity. Hana tries not to dwell on the fact that if she got a re-do she probably wouldn’t have become an idol. Despite being successful Hana felt like a puppet for most of her life, barely even a person. Only after leaving Y.I entertainment was she able to begin searching for her own identity, and start working through some trauma she had to face throughout her career

 

 

 

 

- Became a Trainee in 2007 under YI entertainment at age 12. 

- She became a favorite of YI Entertainment, so it was no surprise when she debuted as one of the Visuals of Sowon in 2009. 

- Hana was always one of the members YI pushed, but after their breakout hit 'Oh!' she began getting a lot of CF offers. YI realized how much a potential moneymaker Hana could be.  

- In 2012 YI pushed Hana to debut solo despite her not really wanting to. Her song "bubble pop" was a hit, but Hana was being over-worked that year and it began affecting her health.

- Hana was everywhere in South Korea. And began getting offers to model more high fashion designers in 2013.   

- Hana became one of the biggest "it girls" in South Korea. Constantly ranking high when it came to male popularity, and male celebrities often named her as their ideal type. 

- in 2015 after leaving YI, Hana started stepping out of the perfect girlfriend image she had been given. Which came with backlash from both the general public and Netizens. 

- In 2017 Hana finally had a solo comeback, where she had the creative control.
