Well, 2021 was quite rough but I am glad we are past it and moving into a hopefully better year. I hope 2022 is better for everyone!

Music-wise, this year was filled with surprises as well and while some groups’ releases weren’t my usual cup of tea, others impressed me with their different styles and genres they approached. It was a fairly good year for Korean music and I would like to present you my personal top 100 of 2021.

Yes, I know I did a top 10 every year but this year I wanted it to be a bit different.

So, without further ado, let’s start!

Honorable mentions: 

- Twice : The Feels –These girls are coming for your hearts and you’ll definitely have the feels when it comes to them. They’re not in my top 100 because I consider this a pop song rather than a K-pop one. Hey would probably be in my top 10 otherwise.

- CL – Alpha. The queen is back and she’s ready to slay! So proud of her!!!

-Rose - So happy she got to debut solo!

100. Brave Girls – Chi Mat Ba Ram – cute summer song with a weird name.

99. Stayc – ASAP – I like the beat drop but I feel bad for that girls’ hair. Get a better stylist.

98. T1419 – Exit – Loving the rhythm.

97. Super Junior – House Party – It’s always a party (and a mess) with these dorks.

96. Drippin – Young Blood – Oh, to be young again.

95. Cherry Bullet – Love so sweet – Cute and sweet, just as love should be.

94. Berry Good – Time for me – Nice rhythm, flashy outfits, cute girls.

93. Secret Number – Fire Saturday – The pants tho.

92. Dreamcatcher – Prison Love – I highly recommend stanning these girls. Very talented!

91. Purple Kiss – Zombie – Catchy chorus, fun song. Be careful not to lose any body parts.

90. Oh My Girl – Dun Dun Dance – They seem to be having so much fun. The song is catchy.

89. ONF – Ugly Dance – Nothing ugly about these guys or the song.

88. Daniel Kang – Antidote – Here’s an antidote to cure all of your illnesses. Do you have one for Corona as well?

87. Cipher – I like you –Wish there were cute guys like these at the retail store I go to as well.

86. CIX – Cinema – I suddenly have the urge to go and watch a few movies.

85. Ravi – Flower Garden – He reminded me to water my plants. Thank you flower king.

84. Enhypen – Tamed Dashed – Listen to this nice song while I learn how to pronounce the group’s name.

83. MCND – Crush – They are so fun. I’ll keep my eyes on them. They’re always a nice surprise.

82. Dreamcatcher – Wind Blows – Stan Dreamcatcher! Stan Talent!

81. ATEEZ – Fireworks (I’m the one) – I’m not really a fan of this style on them but San’s abs are on point.

80. T1419 – Asurabalbalta –Listen to this fun song while I deal with the demon I just summoned while trying to pronounce this name. For English, press 1.

79. GOT7 – Encore – Sad that they disbanded but happy to see them each blooming into great artists.

78. IU – Liliac – Guess her favorite color!

77. Seventeen – Rock with you – When Seventeen invites you to rock with them, you rock with them.

76. Golden Child – Ddara –This reminds me of Sandara Park and I can’t take it seriously.

75. Hanse – Take over – We stan a rap king who likes drag queens!

74. Purple Kiss – Ponzona – The demon I just summoned thanks to T1419 gets a friend. What happened to normal song titles? The song is nice though.

73. AKMU(Feat. IU) – Nakka – their voices blend very well.

72. 2PM – Make it – Taecyeon hits very different after Vincenzo.

71. Hot Issue – Gratata – Loving the beat.

70. AB6IX – Close – Must be nice sleeping with them, I mean dreaming with them, or having nightmares.

69. OnlyOneOf – Libid0 ­– I didn’t plan the position of this song, it just happened.

68. Wonho – Lose – My friend says she’s a winner, wanna meet her?

67. IM – Howlin’ – Let’s howl at the moon baby.

66. Tri.be – DoomDoomTa – I just found myself dancing to this. Super catchy!

65. Kingdom – Excalibur – Loving the lore, the aesthetics and the costumes.

64. Golden Child – Burn it – Very emotional and action-packed MV. Very cool song.

63. AB6IX – Stay Young – We wish, kind sirs, we wish.

62. ONF – Beautiful Beautiful – Exactly. They are.

61. Astro – After Midnight ­– What happens after midnight?

60. Verivery – Trigger – They have great potential. Don’t sleep on them.

59. Lisa – Money – She has them, I don’t.

58. NCT127 – Sticker – The beat is weird but the guys are y, so a win I guess.

57. Stray Kids – Wolfgang – Never was so interested in Mozart or wolves, or both.

56. Woodz – Waiting – I’m here babe, waiting. God, he kills me!

55. Somi – DumbDumb – She’s not, but you are if you don’t give this song a try.

54. Twice – Scientist – Love, chemistry style!

53. MonstaX – Autobahn – Well, I always wanted to learn German. Can you guys be my teachers?

51. DO – Rose – I actually like this a lot. He has a very soothing voice to go with his unsettling eyes.

47. NCT X Aespa – Zoo – Very fun collaboration, very fun rapping.

46. IU – Celebrity – Yes queen, you are!

45. Seventeen- Ready to love – The boys are ready to bless some lucky girls with their loving.

44. Epex – Lockdown – Loving the song but please change its name, we are all sick of lockdowns.

43. Oneus – Black Mirror – Michael Jackson vibes and I love it!

42. Highlight – Not the end – Of course not, this is only the beginning. These men don’t age!

41. NCT Dream – Hot Sauce – I don’t know what kind of sauce SM is selling but I want a taste, especially if it’s as hot as these babies.

40. Taemin – Advice – Here’s an advice, stan Taemin because he’s an angel.

39. E’last – Dangerous – So much potential!!!

38. Hyoyeon – Second – It only takes a second to fall in love with this gorgeous girl.

37. Woodz – Chaser – Chase me (daddy)!

36. IVE – Eleven – One of the best debuts I’ve seen this year. I think they’re going to be big.

35. E’last – Dark Dream – You call it a dark dream, I call it a blessing to see them tied up. They’re great! Give them a listen!

34. BTOB – Outsider – Masterpiece!

33. NFlying – Moonshot – To the moon and back with these dorks! Loving this style!

32. ACE – Higher – Vocals on point. Aesthetics on point. They never disappoint!

31. Twice – Alcohol Free – You don’t need alcohol to stan them. Such a chill summer song.

30. Golden Child – Rapapam – The world is ending, let’s have a dance break. The song is very nice.

29. Red Velvet – Queendom – Yes, you’re queens!!!

28. Sunmi – Tail – She’s absolutely stunning and her songs are so damn catchy. I want to be a cat now.

27. LeeHi – Savior – BI and her make such a cute couple and release such dope songs.

26. Kingdom – Black Crown – Damn! They are really bringing their best when it comes to the whole aesthetic of the song. Complex MV and storyline. Great song! Stan them!

25. Woodz – Feel like – I feel like you and I should meet, Mr. Woodz. His voice is so y and I can’t take it anymore.

24. SF9 – Trauma ­– As soon as I get my psychology diploma, you’re all invited to my cabinet so we can discuss.

23. Hyuna – I’m not cool – Yes you are, you’re pretty cool.

22. After School – Weekly – The song I discovered through TikTok and I never stopped listening to it ever since.

21. Lisa – Lalisa – Boss !!!

20. EXO – Don’t fight the feeling – Right now I am fighting the urge to cry because they sent me on a nostalgia trip. It was so good to see them as a group again and hopefully we can see them like this again soon!

19. MonstaX – Gambler – Let’s play strip poker, I’m going all in!

18. TXT – Frost – Winter is coming and they’re prepared.

17. ITSY – LOCO – I am loco for them. Love them!!!

16. Enhypen – Fever – Never thought a rookie group would release such a y song and do so well with it. Bravo!

15. ASTRO – One – Very interesting song and concept. I am a fan!

14. Cravity – Gas Pedal ­– Loving the beat, loving the song and you should check them out!

13. NCT127 – Lemonade – We all know what kind of song this is. Let’s make lemonade, Yuta, I’ll let you squeeze my lemons really hard.

12. NCT127 – Favorite(Vampire) – Lowkey wanna get bitten. Masterpiece! This is so beautiful and it showcases their vocal like –which is on point. Great song!

11. Everglow – Pirate – They’re pirates and they’re coming for your booty! I had to make that joke, but in all seriousness, you should check them out!

10. Aespa – Savage

I have to admit, I wasn’t very fond of them as a group when they debuted but they proved time and time again that they got what it takes to be a powerful girl- group. Sure, the artificial intelligence thing that SM is trying to pull-off might be a bit weird but the girls are talented. When they released savage I was instantly hooked and I listened to the song on repeat every day. It’s a bit messy –god forbid that bridge- but that ZU ZU ZU ZU hook was enough to make me play it on repeat for days. Stan Aespa!

9. Woodz – Kiss of Fire

A friend of mine pointed out he is a Leo so of course his kisses would be hot like fire. aside, this dude rocked this year! He made 2021 very enjoyable for me. His songs are top-notch and the way he performs every song is something else. He’s very talented –besides being dead-drop gorgeous. You can’t get enough of those honey vocals, he’s just addictive. Stan Woodz for a better life!

8. Loona – PTT (Paint the town)

You know, so days you just wake up and feel like a bad , ready to crush everyone that dares crossing you; well, this would be the soundtrack of that kind of mood. I always listened to their songs and they were always present in my yearly tops because their songs are good but never had one song have such an impact on me. The beat, the whole mood, their outfits and the MV are on point. Loving the whole vibe of this song. Stan LOONA!

7. Stray Kids – Thunderous

Sorikkun!!!

Have you heard a more powerful hook? I don’t think you have because only Stray Kids could pull off something so powerful and impactful. They really are like a thunder, you never know when they’ll hit you but when they do, you’re dead. They have quickly became one of my top groups in the whole K-pop industry and knowing my pretentious , that’s quite the feat. The song is fun to dance to and that beat drop will shake you to the core. It also helps that the 8 of them are spicy!!! Stan Stray Kids!

6. Epik High – Rosario

What do you get when you mix amazing rappers in one song? A kick- collaboration that left me completely shook. I always knew that Epik High releases great songs but this one just blew my mind. The whole mafia vibe of the song combined with that chorus sang by none other than queen CL combined with Zico’s perfect rap made for a song that quickly climbed my top. This is a flawless song and they’re all so hot. How can I enter this mafia?

They’re legends and they’re here to stay!

5. TXT – LO$ER=LO♡ER

Remember back in the day when we were all EMO and we listened to Tokio Hotel? Well, this song has taken me back to those times and I realized how carefree and happy I was back then. Ironic, right? With all seriousness, TXT had released one of the best songs of 2021 with this masterpiece. It’s so good and I feel like they fit this style best, I would love them to release more songs of this vibe. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be blasting this song while being EMO in my room. I’m a loser I’m a loserrrrrrrr!

4. ATEEZ – Déjà vu

Ateez having a racy concept? Yes please!

What could be ier than 8 handsome men in suits, dancing and singing on a sultry rhythm? Nothing, I tell you! That’s why Ateez rocks and they rocked this concept. I just couldn’t stop looking at them –and drooling- because they looked so handsome. All I have to say is that I hope they continue with these kinds of concepts, I am a very big fan of their suits – or rather how they suit them.

I’m trash for Ateez, can you tell?

3. Victon – What I said

Victon, can you please stop ruining my bias list?

These guys were always good but in the past years they become a force to be reckoned with. They are very good and with this song they proved it. For about 8 months, this song was the first on my top, nothing could beat them. They’re just that good. From their amazing voices, to the beautiful MV and damn that rapping delivered by none other than Hanse. When I first heard the rapping, I was in love. If you haven’t heard the song, firstly ‘what’s wrong with you?’ and secondly, please go and show it some love!!!

2. Key ( Featuring Taeyeon) – Hate that…

This song hit me hard. Even if you don’t understand the lyrics, you know what this song is about and honestly, this is the power of K-pop. The melody is beautiful, the lyrics are so very true and the way their voices blend together is just magical. I was so blown away the first time I listened to it and I think I sent it to all of my friends, it’s just so beautiful. Please give it a listen, you won’t regret.

1. Oneus – Luna

I have no words. This song is absolutely beautiful but what I love the most is the whole aesthetic of the group. Oneus proved time and time again that they love playing with different cultural elements and the way they use the moon as a center piece for this particular song is just amazing. I haven’t seen a group –except Vixx- that had such amazing concepts. Everyone should watch this and take lessons. I listened to the song for hours and watched the MV hundreds of time and I always smile seeing how beautiful everything is. I’ll never get tired of them.

Sadly, many sleep on them and hopefully they’ll wake up and start stanning these six handsome and talented men. You won’t regret it. Stan Oneus for a better life!
