So proud of myself!

So, I'm so proud of myself. The reason is I'm almost finished paying off my Discover card payment.

2003 is when I got my first credit card (Discover). I had just graduated high school in 1996 and starting working right away. My parents didn't think I was mature enough to have a credit card, so they waited until 2003 and then I got the Discover card. I was 26 years old at the time. Well, I didn't know how easy it was to fall in the same hole many new credit card users fall into. I had gone out and bought things and racking up the bill, to the point I was $7,000 in debt.

So, with the many different jobs I've done since 2003, I was slowly paying off the credit card. Finally, my parents decided to help me out when I was in my middle 30s. I have it set up with the Discover card for them to take out a certain amount and I would call them and add on to the payment.

Here's why I'm proud of myself, August 21, 2021, at the moment the amount is $976,26. Yes, you are reading that correctly.

From $7,000 to $900. That is 28 years of paying off the credit card. Because I've been paying it on the date of the bill, they've been raising how much I can spend. Not only that, my credit score has finally gotten to the VERY good. It's getting close to the excellent.

And it looks like I have about 4 or 5 more payments left to finish paying it off. The reason why I'm trying to pay off my Discover card is because I need to buy a car.

Right now, I have an 18 year old car and I need to get a better one because this one might die at some point. And once, I get a car, I'm going to change my job.

I'm not happy with my job, and I've already told my manager what I'm planning. But, I need to stick with the job until I pay off my Discover card and get a car.

My mom has helped me wonderously. I LOVE her to death. She's been giving me money when she can to help pay off the Discover card.

I don't like asking for help, but my dad told me back in my 30's that they need to give me money to pay it off. When they have the money, my mom gives me a check and I use that to help pay off the Discover card.

I'm happy that i stuck with it and kept paying it off without really using the credit card.
