I came across the phrase "bald statement" while reading today, and was like hmmm, that's weird because I'd only ever heard "bold statement" before. So I looked it up. Here's the difference...

Bald statement

1. Fact or truth said in a direct way, without trying to be sensitive or polite

2. A statement that is correct or true, but gives no additional info to help you understand or accept it

Bold statement

1. An exaggerated statement

2. A statement that is outlandish, that maybe could come true but probably not

3. To express an opinion in a brave way
