The Sky

The Sky was pouring heavily, despite not being rainy season. The Earth seemed happy, however, to be refreshed. The heat was getting extreme lately.

“Thank You.” The Earth said with a smile.

The Sky wanted to say something but ended up replying, “You’re welcome.”

For a moment, the Sky thought of sharing the sudden reason for the downpour but seeing the relaxed face of the Earth, he couldn’t bring it up.

The past few weeks had been exhausting. The Sky thought of sharing his burden with the Stars, but they were shining too bright, making every other thing outshine. He considered talking to the Moon, but she looked too peaceful so, he didn’t want to disturb her. He tried talking to the Sun, but he was busy providing heat and light to everyone, so he didn’t have heart to reach out. He thought of chatting with the Earth, but despite seeing her every day, it was only on the horizon that they actually met and he didn’t want to ruin those few moments talking disheartening stuffs.

Considering again, it was not too serious, just some random thoughts troubling him.

“The Sky”, everybody saw him as the vast, blue, clear, magnificent, stable body. So, he was reluctant to say to others that he too had cloudy days.

Everyone’s expectations from him to always be bright, blue sky sometimes burdened him. He knew that, that’s what he was supposed to be but just sometimes, he felt super tired.

There were times when the Earth informed him that the Southern part had been deserted for long.

The Ozone layer complained that the human activities were destroying them.

The Rain requested for collaboration so that, they could gift people with the rainbow.

At times, the Sky really wanted to tell “No”, “I can’t”, “I don’t want to”, but then again he couldn’t bring himself to let others down.

He couldn’t tell the Earth to go ask the Clouds to make it rain since he was in-charge of that.

He wanted to tell the Ozone layer to go rant with others, there was nothing he could help with about human behavior.

He wished to tell the Rain, he was tired with many pressure and didn’t want to make effort for another collaboration.

The Sky felt all those duties were taking away his personal time, his happiness.

But, come to think of it, the responsibility of the Cloud was his, the Ozone layer shared his concern because he trusted him and was comfortable with him, the collaboration with the Rain would indeed delight many people. It was selfish of him to think that way.

If he looked around, it was not easy for the Sun to keep on burning 24/7, it was tedious for the Moon to keep the calm every moment, the Earth kept on bearing the mass of entire planet.

The Sun knew no one was having it easy but sometimes, he wanted to be left on his own, without having to think about his responsibility of vast space, he wanted to enjoy the beauty around him and relax, he wished to just be himself.

Those times when the feelings were overwhelming, when he was physically, mentally, emotionally exhausted, when he kept things to himself not wanting to trouble anyone, he wept; he let the heaviness of his heart pour out and so, there was the unseasonal rain.
