background Moon Kyungjae was born on the 18th of February, 1999 in the city of Guri of Gyeonggi Province, South Korea to two Police Officers, Senior Inspector Moon Jihwan and Inspector Go Minkyung. Moon Kyungdae is her older twin brother by 6 minutes and Moon Kyunghwan is her little brother. Their parents wanted them to learn how to defend themselves so they learned Taekwondo when they were 5. Aside from that, they also joined a music class. They moved to Ilsan when their father died on duty when the three of them were still at the young ages of 11 and 7, respectively. There they met Kim Namjoon who was an underground rapper. Namjoon became their rap teacher in Ilsan. The twins would also watch Namjoon whenever he raps underground.

Although they are twins, they learned how to be independent since their father taught them how when they were 7. Both of them had their differences yet they have their similarities. Since their father died, the twins take turns in teaching Kyunghwan in place of their father and would help out their mother.

When the twins reached the age of 14, both of them auditioned in BigHit Entertainment but only Kyungdae was accepted as a trainee, so Kyungjae auditioned in other companies.  Although Kyungdae felt bad, Kyungjae still congratulated her twin and cheered him on. She auditioned in Pledis Entertainment and got in as a trainee in 2012.

trainee life Since Kyungjae got accepted as a trainee, she made a bet on who would debut first between her and Kyungdae. Since she would be debuting first, Kyungdae's consequence of the bet between them is to stay later than the others to continue to practice.

One night when she was practicing, she met another new trainee, Hansol Vernon Chwe. Vernon and Kyungjae became best friends since both of them have the same birthday and they are of the same age. Vernon would always go over to the practice room every time he's done and hang out with Kyungjae. Sometimes, Vernon would suggest that they do a song cover.

4 years after becoming a trainee, it was announced that she will be part of 16TV, and that was when she first met the other members of Seventeen officially. She was really quiet when they first met but she slowly opened up when she got closer to them.

When Sixteen's debut was decided, most of the staff and trainees wanted to put her on the dance unit, she persuaded them to put her on the rap unit. Seungcheol was surprised that Kyungjae had brothers, especially a twin brother who is also a trainee. Although he was surprised, he also said that he expected it since she will not act the way she does if she doesn't.

 

interactions Seunghceol treats Kyungjae like a little sister since he also has one. He would be so gentle and protective towards her. They would get ideas for their lyrics from things they mostly talk about.

He is determined to do everything he can to finish a project of his, no matter the number of obstacles that face him. He can also be considered an independent person. He enjoys the time he can spend alone working on another song or creating a new melody. Jihoon is an honest person who really loves intellectual stimulation and his own space. Jihoon inspires the other members to work hard and aim to what some people may say is impossible.

Jihoon is very straightforward. He is never afraid to vocally express his opinions. He is very passionate about anything he sets his heart and mind, too. When a  situation arises where he feels it's important, he is not quick to sit passively, instead, he will quickly shout out his opinion with no fear of the reaction it may receive. 

However, there are times that Jihoon could be so similar to Kyungjae. He is a perfectionist. He wants everything to be perfect from the tiny details of the emotions of the vocals to the delivery of verses from the rapper. Jihoon also has a little bit of temper. If someone does annoy him, he will burst out. Jihoon can be strict and serious. He is really strict when it comes to music since he is too serious about his work.
